I have a prebuilt (i know, scandalous) and it only came with single channel memory. So i bought a second stick to match the first one, so now i have 2x16GB of ram to play Minecraft with and not much else.

I don't know what this chrome meme is about, i have 16 gigs, when i run gta online, or cyberpunk with 8-10 tabs open with youtube playing in the background i have absolutely no problems whatsoever. I mean i get that it might be a problem on 4 maybe even 8 gig systems but why would you even want to AAA game and use multiple browser tabs at the same time on a low end device?
You should do one of these every 6-12 months with the latest gear identifying where some of the older stuff you covered before has come down in price so they can now fit into the lower priced rigs.

that's what I was thinking... but in reality, I built my PC last month for 1200 (peripherals included) but with a rx570 GPU(lower than the lowest GPU they used), but I get >140FPS on BFV on ultra settings..... soooooo....

Maxim Gem from what I’ve heard (I haven’t checked since I’m not in the market) recently part prices have been seriously fluctuating and were quite expensive for a bit there.
Unruly Rotors I used to play on almost exactly their rx580 build and I’m honestly confused as to why they were having such low FPS. They were gaming on a VR ready station? I used to use the r3 2200/ rx580 8gb with 16gb of ram, and I got 60fps on every game except modern warfare 2019. (Nobody shy of 2000$ PCs got that though lol)

First build for me, went for the glow-up budget. Same case, but was lucky enough to go for a Ryzen 7 5800X and a Gigabyte RTX 3070 Vision OC. Not going for a purely gaming rig, also planning on using it for Blender, Zbrush and other modeling software. Jumping from a 5 year old PS4 to an insane PC is the best choice I’ve made in a while.

depends on who you ask, for me I build a pc for myself every 5 years or so and spend about $2500-3000. Spending more than 3k is out of question for me but I will spend up to that.

I actually use that same monitor from the mid-ranger for my 2nd monitor! It's nice and the 1080p 22" frame is the perfect step down from my main 1440p 27" main monitor so having 2 monitors at different resolutions doesn't feel clunky.

I run a shitty Corsair VS650 (the old model), it's not the worst but it's a meh PSU, it still runs well after 5 years on a 490w overclocked system.

So nice that the prices have gone down for most compenents now. for the price of the athlete i ended up getting:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 (Using the stock wraith cooler) 109$ CAD
GPU: GTX 1660 Super 150$ CAD
RAM: 4x4gb DDR4 3200 40$ CAD
MOBO: ASrock b550m Pro 4 130$ CAD
and the PSU and HDD i got came with a case i bought used which totaled around 200$ (600w Psu, 1Tb Hdd and a Basic Corsair prebuilt case that had 3 fans)
See you in 20 years when youtube recommends this video and overkill becomes el cheapo 😂

Worked out a dream build on Overclockers, including peripherals it came to about £20k with no watercooling. Could've gone higher probably but some stock was limited. Will never get to build it but it's fun to do.

I really liked the introductions of the PCs
just upgraded my rx 580 and r3 3200g to my rtx 2060 and r5 3600 and its the biggest recommendation. if you can look properly you will only be paying a few more for almost double performance. (also upgraded from 8gb to 8x2gb and its a lot faster as well with dual channeling)
When they call an over $1000 gaming pc "mid-range" and anything above $500 is high end for me
I mean if you buy the first monitor that they used and also maybe a like 1650 you could make around $700-800 also maybe go for earlier peripherals you could maybe do like a close 600 ish kinda budget especially with a newer cpu.
Yeah some of their part choices are terrible. You can get the performance of the "Gentleman" for $500-ish if you know where to get what.
If your going to spend less than $1000 your better off buying used parts.

Oh dear that poor Athlon tough! It hurts my heart to see it paired with that ram! With just a tiny upgrade (dual channel 8 GB) this would have been able to do actually decently on modern games... with some ¨creative¨ low spec tweaks. I also loved seeing how things scale on other price points.

I was doing fine with 8GB, but I have recently upgraded now that the prices have fallen a lot.
No not enough at least 2tb its the max on windows pro some reason
I decided to max out my rig at 32 GB. I can never go back to less. I have 1431 tabs open in Firefox and my computer still runs like a charm.

Love this video, please make another. My pc was over $10k with the rog z690, gtx 4090, i9 13900, 128gb fury beast ddr5, evga 1000w supernova, 2tb 990 pro ssd, custom hardline cooling, and the rog pg48uq oled. Did I spend too much, probably, but is it awesome? Yes.
For anyone looking at this 3 years into the future with a shoestring budget, the "El Cheapo" is far better these days, and if you saw this and invested into that build all those years ago, you can upgrade fairly easily. If you don't need the monitor you could pick up a Ryzen 5 5600G for around $100 USD, you can also now get an 8 GB stick of DDR4 ram for only $2 more than they spent for the 4GB stick here. Or you could go $4 more and get 2 sticks of the same 4 GB sticks they used and gain access to dual channel for around $22. Also for the same cost as the SSD they used, you can get one with around double the storage. Motherboard is a tad more expensive now new at $69(nice) with the MSI A520M PRO-VH as the cheapest.
I'm actually going to make my own personal suggestion for a case and power supply, and it's something LTT has suggested before, get grandma's old hand me down PC, strip it out and keep the PSU and Case, you should end up with more than enough power budget for the system because the 5600G doesn't really use much power, and while the case won't be the best, it will come with very likely the best price, free.
Everything I just listed will run around $211 with best options. So you have some wiggle room to play around with upgrading things once again assuming you don't need a monitor, that would complicate things a lot unless you plan on buying one used. Though if you could find one for around the same price as the video it would only push your budget to $300.99 so you would still have a few dollars left over, and you'd already be well on your way to the next step up, as you already have a very good CPU, and you are already running an A520 motherboard for the added benefits of that.
If you do upgrade unto the second stage, basically just adding a RX 6500 XT would likely work and is only $160, it's a low max power GPU that is actually a bit better and cheaper than the RX 580 they used, and would likely still work on Grandma's old PSU, as the CPU and GPU together would only be using around 172 watts, so the 240-250 watt power supply would still be hanging on, and because of how pricing has changed the "El Cheapo" already has 8 GB in 2 4GB sticks, but if you wanted to upgrade 2 8GB sticks of 3000mhz DDR4 is only around $40. Now yes you would be pushing an old hand me down Power Supply to put this much load on it, but if you are on a really tight budget, this would work, and would only push the overall total up to, $411 without a monitor and $500.99 with one the same price as the video. It should also be noted you'd likely end up with performance close to the Mid-Ranger with this set up as well, with this set up winning in CPU intensive loads, and lagging around 10% behind on GPU heavy loads compared to the 1660 ti in the Mid-Ranger, but also that 1660 ti is now over $600, and the RX 6500 XT is only $160.
Now to address why no 12th or 13th gen Intel CPUs, the simple answer is the price comparable Intel CPUs to the Ryzen 5 5600G are just flat out worse. The most price comparable i3-12100F runs at the same boost speed, with a smaller L3 and L1 cache and doesn't have integrated graphics. The most price comparable Intel CPU I can find that actually seems to be available is, the i5-12400T that will cost you $170, but AMD can play that price game to, as the Ryzen 7 5700G is only $9 more, and gives you FAR better performance while funnily enough using less power.
So in conclusion, you can get "El Cheapo" prices for nearly "The Athlete" levels of performance these days, and you can get under "The Athlete" pricing for "Mid-Ranger" levels of performance. Also I will note in general adding a budget PSU and Case will only run you around $80-$120 more so if you don't have a hand me down PC or just an old PC laying around, it still keeps the prices competitive with the video. Also all prices I listed were in USD as I'm fairly sure that's also what LTT did. Obviously prices are going to vary based on your region.

i am planning my next pc at the moment. I am wondering what GPU specs i should shoot for? The games i play tend to be conan exiles, skyrim, the witcher 3, league of legends, conquerors blade, ark, and alot of older games. I like to watch movies and youtube. I also like to make videos for youtube and use programs such as OBS. I normally do not change graphics settings on games unless the screen is too blurry or has odd colors. I do not really notice a difference between pixel rates. Usually my screen size is between 10 and 18 inches. I am guessing that ideally, i would want 8GB ram seeing that I would plan to build a new pc 2 years later I have a system of buying a laptop one year a pc the next and alternating my purchases so that I can recoup costs before the pc becomes worthless. I am guessing i should look at what I am doing and time the VRAM by 2 so that I have enough power to do what I want.

I have one 128gb SSD and have competitive/most played games. There's about 5 games on there. I think it's good enough for the average user. I don't think many people play more than 5 different games on a regular basis
@@marvinjohn It's cheaper in the sense that it's now the cheapest, new boot drive you can get.
A more reasonable 240 GB SSD is around $30 which is still cheaper than a 1TB Blue at $45 or a Barracuda 2TB for $50.
Also Windows just works SO MUCH better on an SSD where, IMO, is stupid to have a HDD boot drive on a new desktop or laptop today.

Crazy how fast technology changes in 2 years. Minus the dual graphics card absurdity, I’m gaming on high settings at 1440p for about $1800 all in. Somewhat comparable experience to this $7k build. Found some good deals on pc parts and a monitor. Landed a 3060ti from MSI at msrp for $659. More than I wanted to spend but the gpu apocalypse squeezed me for an extra $250 or so. I wonder what the price to performance build will look like two years from now
At a similar roughly $1000 USD mark, It at least briefly included the likes of a Ryzen 5 5600, B550 mobo, 2x16GB DDR4 3600 CL18, an RX 6800XT, a 1TB NVMe SSD, a 650W 80PLUS Bronze(or better)PSU, and a decent case with some fans and a tempered glass side panel. However, memory prices have crept back up some(affecting SSDs and Ram mostly) making a similar build more difficult(if not impossible) to do without increasing the budget to some extent.

Even though this is a couple years old now I feel better about my current rig. I built it as an upgrade from my I5 about a year ago and it outclasses the "Gentleman" on pretty much everything and just behind the "Glow-Up" mostly... Rizen 5 3600, 1tb nvme m.2 (PCIEx4) for everything that runs, 1tb HDD for storage, 32gb ram (2x16gb), rtx 1650 super (4gb) all attached to a b550 tomahawk. Cost me about $1500 Canadian. Still can't crank everything in some games but I'm willing to sacrifice on shadows.
At this point though I think it would be classed at about the "Midrange"... probably.

Not poor. I have never gamed on a PC until a few years ago so i have never needed to buy high end gear. Also all my PC's before that were only used for watching video's, email and internet browsing so i have only replaced my PC's maybe 5 times since 1998 and only 2 of them were brand new.

I think in the end that anybody who wants a great setup needs to look out for luck in prices, bought a 3080 Vision OC, bought it for 650CAD (Brand New). You need to seek out these lucks in order to have a great kit for a very decent price
