Youre the best dude. I was a little intimidated tackling this wiring harness for when i do my swap but it looks like a piece of cake! a lot better than spending $500+ on a standalone.
This looks like a must watch......2x per week .....Over a month....Before I get an ls. Extremely informative. Just wondering who was the mad scientist who created this plug and play. Thank you so much. This is my second time watching it. First time I had to put it down. Blew my head and almost said forget it.
good video man. i recently also made my own LS swap harness for the firebird, it was super easy and cheap as i used a junkyard truck harness and fuse block. thumbs up.
A21Brovo, I am about to start my own 2002 5.3 for a turbo setup. I have a printed copy of the wires from lt1 I think it is. On the website it says that things highlighted in yellow can be removed. Along with the the ones it says are not needed? It also says that if you have a need for 4 o2 sensors or Evap system don't take them out. Please let me know which ones stay and which ones got to go! Your help is not only truly appreciated, but very much needed. I have no help from local people or friends. Thank you, Brad
What would a good donor for a 4.8 swap for 97s10 ? I want to swap the engine and transmission, keep the 4L60 until something happens to it, a 6 or 8 speed sounds nice anyway, but likely more than I want to spend on it! Maybe a future project, I want it to be like factory, if they made a 4.8 97 s10 in the 00's I'd like to do a cam swap and turbo, eventually, with about 10psi. Great video!
Thanks you make it look very easy, I have a 1994 LT-1 Engine Transmission and Differential, and I'm planning in put this assembly on my 56 BelAir Sport Sedan, I need to eliminate the Air Bag wiring, and the Break speed sensor the Power ABS sensor wiring, I will look at your other videos, to see if will help me on this swap.
did you save the low oil level sensor? if you does could you tell me what id the wire come from pcm to dashboard that turn the warning light on to know when oil pan is low?
This video has already helped me. I have a Dodge 2500 Cummins 4x4 6 speed, got all sorts of trouble from the harness. Almost 400k on it but I'm into it too deep back out now. The engine harness is discontinued so my options are buy used ($1500 if you can find one) or patch and repair (driving me nuts) or a stand alone but I'm told that won't work and I'm not sure why. Don't know if you'll ever see this post but I gotta give it a shot. What would you suggest? This is also my daily drive. I'm about to pull the whole harness out and bring it inside, but I really don't want to..
Great stuff, I have watched several of these and slowly warming up LOL, appreciate the no nonsense approach to your vids. One thing dawned on me, the "signal" wires you denoted would go to a relay to send main 12 power to end use? So you COULD us the power supply from the swapped vehicles fuze box, and simply add one relay box and done? Thanks
DUDE! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!....The Jedi Master that took time at the beginning of this video to walk us babies at this stuff through this wiring harness (as it refers to how it's set up or positioned on the vehicle)....This now makes so much sense. "I'm ready to disperse that big wad all over and across her intake"...woohoo!! Great videos man! You and your videos are consistently "Billy"* and we appreciate you for teaching us!! *={Billy as in Badass and/or G.O.A.T.}!
I have a similar engine ls3, I did the electrics as you have in the video. We programmed the computer and turned off the "vats system". Unfortunately, the engine did not start. High voltage comes to the spark plugs, but no impulse comes to the injectors. Maybe you can advise me what could be the reason. Diagnostics shows me the error P0315. The sensor is working. Thank you very much in advance
Maybe a dumb question as Ive never done an LS swap. For simplicity couldn’t I buy engine with harness and pcm then install it all while hooking up power, ground, turn off unused mil alerts, stuff the extra wire/plugs off to the side and go....? Function over form.
Awesome video! I need your help, what is the sensor connector just in front of injector #2? (Just past all the injector/coil strand on passenger side? It’s the only one I forgot to label and now that I’m hooking everything back up.....I can’t figure out what it goes too,......thanks!
So I have been doing research for an LS swap in my recently acquired 76 Cheyenne truck. I wanted to ask about to things that you didn't mention yet in your video (I'm 14 minutes in as I write this.) So I was watching this one guy's video, and he said that you need to get around the VATS by flashing the CPU or buying a bypass. Is that true? How did you personally get around that? Secondly, I wanted to save money for now, and just hook up my engine to the stock th350 in the truck. Adapter kits are cheap, and I've already researched connecting them, but do I need to tune the engine to match the transmission? Can I just plug in some vacuum lines to the th350 and call it a day? If you couldn't tell, LS swaps are not my realm of expertise, and I'd really appreciate some help. As far as the wiring goes, you really made it seem easy. I'm usually not intimidated with electronics, as I love working on computers, so I figured I'd give a custom factory harness a try instead of doing an aftermarket one.
Hello, I have a 2000 silverqdo that was a 4.3 I put in a 2004 ls 6.0 with 4l80 it has the stock pcm. I'm trying to mate it to the truck but don't know what wires and connectors need to make it run and drive. Thanks
Going to start working on my 99 truck harness - which fuse block do you use ? I've watched a lot of videos and this one is the best by miles. THANK YOU.
Man I'm so damn on the fence. I just love the sound of the vq.. yeah I'm weird. But honestly I can't argue with the benefits of ls swapping vs replacing my vq (don't ask) Your videos really help me solve so many questions that come up when I start to wonder what I can get away with. The gear ratios of the cd0009 are keeping me from doing that tho. I don't really want to modify the subframe and have axles made.. ect. 2800-3200k highway ain't gonna cut it on a 5.3.... ugh sorry it's just such a long list of pros and cons that I've been dancing around for over a year now.
This may seem strange but I am interested in the Ford Ranger LS swap since most people usually do S-10's and overlook the Ranger. I am wondering if you did the fab yourself or used a swap kit and how difficult it is with the crossmember for the trans, motor mounts, oil pan,headers/manifolds,radiator,etc.(oh yeah I also use a "juice box" fairly regularly myself lol)
Hey man, thanks so much for posting this video. I noticed you kept the VSS wire. I'm in the process of swapping an ls1 into my 350z and am currently working on wiring. I originally thought that the 350z just uses wheel sensors for speed calculation, is there a specific reason to keep the ls1 vehicle speed sensor? I'm mating it with a 6 speed T56. Thanks!
Maybe if someone is having trouble, they could hang a sheet of plywood, with nails to hang the harness on then label the ply wood for the sensors, to help keep it straight in your head! I have sort of done this in car, basically if you have changed a engine, you can do this!
This is all great. But as lt1swap said on a FB post said. The big black plug for fuse block. He said cut all of the NON pink wires. And trace to source. Either to pcm connector or to the sensor. And the other connectors by the fuse block plug cut those off and trace as well. If they go to PCM use the diagram as to what to do with it. Blue or yellow highlight meaning.
Are you using stock computer wires cut out and missing will it trigger a check engine light I’m trying to do a LS swap in my boat but there’s a bunch of crap I don’t need
Another excellent how to video, sir! I may give this a shot, for shits and gigs. Planning to use the gold box for my junk, but may want to try the factory stuff in the future, and winter is a comin. I do need to figure out how to pin a ff sensor to an e38 for my 11 camaro though. Shouldn’t be too difficult, and I know you did a video for the truck not that long ago too eh? Anyway, learned a lot here, definitely make this look a lot less intimidating, and almost a little relaxing, what with the beer and all. Almost a nice rainy day project.
Sup man I've been watching your videos for a while. I've also got my hands on a lq4 with complete harness for $200. Already started the rebuild with the harness rework. I am planning on putting it into a g35 or z manual, but for my harness I had to add tps wiring with oil plug and AIC wires. Just missing the aic plug and TB which I'm picking up from the junk yard
Dude, love your video!! very simple and clear. Im about to swap a 5.3 lm7 from a silverado ¿do i need to worry about VATS sistems? or any other anti teft sistem that may block de pcm?
Hey man, you saved me during my ls1 swap into my 69 442. Now I am doing a 5.3 that will be going into a 67 Nova, was wondering if I want to put a manual transmission behind the 5.3, what wires are need from harness for the manual transmission, the VSS wires? Any specific one?? Thanks you so much!!!
Great video I'm going to take a crack it. Question about vss wire. Is that an output for a cluster? Or is it vss signal from trans? I will be running a 5.3 with a T5. Once again great video.
I've got a swap in planning stages with a 90's Mercedes 5.0 v8. Since no system that's usable standalone exists I'm thinking it makes sense to run it off a ls based system, basically make the computer still think it's running a 5.3. If it all goes to shit I'm that much closer to just biting the bullet and putting an LS in the car. The only thing that will be tricky I can think of is making sure the cam signal is the same and maybe knock sensor? I know I'll need an external reluctor and sensor. The rest of the sensors shouldn't be a problem to adapt. Does this sound nuts?
Hey man looking for some help. I got a early 2000’s truck harness and could get to the transmission connectors to unplug them so I cut the harness right behind the intake. I have already traced and reworked the camshaft sensors and grounds. Am I okay to just tape off all the pink wires or do I need to connect them to somewhere. Much appreciated
Hey man do you notice a huge power difference between the Gen IV 6.0 and the 5.3? The stats I find people vouching for the 6.0 being a massive power increase are always the same people who’s LS isn’t even driving or fully installed yet. So it’s just blind guessing based off displacement. But you own them so what’s your take on the two?
No big differences. Especially when referencing cost. 4.8/5.8 will make great power boosted for much lower cost... I started with that mindset and now I'm not even interested in the 6.0 anymore, lol.
a21bravo awesome good to know brotha! Just bought a C10 last month and the serp belt blew the water pump pully. Using this as an excuse to LS swap. But couldn’t figure out if the 6.0 at the yard or the 5.3 right next to it was better. 5.3 it is!
Did you delete the tcc brake switch? Wondering if you need it to run a manual trans and if you can just delete it or have to flash the pcm as well. Thanks
I have a question I have an 05 5.3 and I'm going to use the 4l60e that came with it and I have the stand alone almost done I only need 2 wires a grey and a light green the were on the c2 can I remove them or does the ecm need them for anything? Light green is "park nuetral position switch signal" and the grey is "Trailer Backup Lamp Supply Voltage" Thanks
Nice video,i have a 89 iroc z tuned port..i boight a 2017 silverado 5.3 with dod and 6 speed auto 2wd trans..is this 5.3 do able in my iroc z..i think i can swap the oil.pan for a camaro and intake from a camaro?? Thanx
Hey so I see your videos I made everything you said but my truddle body is electric and there is cables that don't say where they go idk if you have any idea or ah diagram
Depends on the harness and vehicle it came from. One harness is drive by wire, one is drive by cable. Wire throttle has 1 plug, cable throttle has two(TPS and IAC).
I have my 00 k1500 harness pretty much finished with the 4l80e conversion my question is do I need to use the range selector in my application the 5.3 & 4l80e is in a 04 mustang its going to be a street car with all accessories ac cruise etc I'm using the ecm and body computer's to run the ford side of the car for the cruise cooling fans etc I was wondering do I need the factory GM range selector or can I do away with it the ford side of the is wired to start the engine thank you
@@BlaserBuilds thank you very much for the info on the range selector I'm using a b&m hammer 4spd shifter and I installed a micro switch on the shifter for the park enable for the starter And thank you again for the info I be waiting on the next video on the caddy
I like to say.spit two times in a bucket fuck it.i love your attitude bro..I am just installed a 360 in my 05 ram 1500. It had a 4.7.so I am changing the wires in the harness..ty
Where are you getting your pink wire/s for the fromt o2 sensors to be wired in your new fuse block? Only the rears has pinks and its required to remove the rears! I only have lt/grn and grn all spliced into the harness and the tan and purple goe to the pcm plugs. Where do they get the power. Where is the pink?? Hahaha
I love your videos bro .my saying is fuck it at least I tried..I have a 03 dodge Dakota,I took out the 4.7 an I put a 5.9l rewire the whole truck.ran it for a week, wasn't too happy so I took it out an I just got done installing a 5.3 in my datako..ty
Love your vids! I'm doing the exact swap and in the same way I'm not about spending my hard earned money on parts I know I can make , I'm gonna attempt the wiring but I'm dropping in a 4l60e along with the 5.3. I'm watching for the ac hook up if you are gonna do it so i can follow what you do. Also would you remove vats and other un needed things for others ecu's ? People here charge like they looking for me to put their kids through collage. Keep it ☝
Hey @ 28:50 do those grounds just go to ground wires that are soldered all together in the harness? I domt seem to have them unless I cut them off can I just solder new grounds where they all meet ?
@@guzlndzl Maybe just do a double check and make sure PCM has all wiring needed. And keep that in mind if you have any odd issues at startup, grounds are something that get easily missed in a good situation.
Dude, I did my harness recently for my fairmont, and this vid saved my ass! Thanks bro!
Glad to hear that!
I'm about to swap my turdmont
@@BlaserBuilds I have a Mazda B2200, and I would like to ask you which motor is better fit for that pick up. A LS1 or a 6 cylinder 4.3?

The pink wires that were going down to trans?
I just need to know what to depin that went to the transmission if you remember what those were or know where I can go to find out
Hey man do you notice a huge power difference between the Gen IV 6.0 and the 5.3?
5.3 it is!
Where is the plug at 12:23 located on a donor car? And is it tied to the wiring harness that all the loom was cut off of?
Under fuse box on drivers side.
So the external power wires are the same no matter the application?
And with a th400 it would be the same as running a manual trans?
Did you delete the tcc brake switch? Wondering if you need it to run a manual trans and if you can just delete it or have to flash the pcm as well. Thanks
I didn't do anything for it. Left it out, nothing with PCM.
Man I'm doing my first l86 lt swap thanks for the video
Question. Working on blue, going through pin outs. What do I do with the two highlighted in purple? Not sure, pin 41&71
I have a question I have an 05 5.3 and I'm going to use the 4l60e that came with it and I have the stand alone almost done I only need 2 wires a grey and a light green the were on the c2 can I remove them or does the ecm need them for anything? Light green is "park nuetral position switch signal" and the grey is "Trailer Backup Lamp Supply Voltage"
Thanks
Great video, thanks for putting this out here!
How would I do that if I have a tbi system in my truck
Thanks brother great video lots of knowledge and great info keep the videos coming brother
Have you ever done a gen v engine harness?
Nice video,i have a 89 iroc z tuned port..i boight a 2017 silverado 5.3 with dod and 6 speed auto 2wd trans..is this 5.3 do able in my iroc z..i think i can swap the oil.pan for a camaro and intake from a camaro?? Thanx
Yeah car intake and pan will fit. Need the oil pickup tube also.
How did you integrated oem Canbus with the standalone?
I have my 00 k1500 harness pretty much finished with the 4l80e conversion my question is do I need to use the range selector in my application the 5.3 & 4l80e is in a 04 mustang its going to be a street car with all accessories ac cruise etc I'm using the ecm and body computer's to run the ford side of the car for the cruise cooling fans etc I was wondering do I need the factory GM range selector or can I do away with it the ford side of the is wired to start the engine thank you
Don't need it, unless you want to use it for neutral safety switch or reverse lights.
@@BlaserBuilds thank you very much for the info on the range selector I'm using a b&m hammer 4spd shifter and I installed a micro switch on the shifter for the park enable for the starter
And thank you again for the info I be waiting on the next video on the caddy
Running factory ECU with this?
Keep all your de-pinned wires. Also if you remove a wire by accident it's easy to add it back in.
Did you keep the ac?
I like to say.spit two times in a bucket fuck it.i love your attitude bro..I am just installed a 360 in my 05 ram 1500. It had a 4.7.so I am changing the wires in the harness..ty
Pretty cool. Thanks for teaching us!
Hahaha
Tin snips, you mean large wire cutters?
I love your videos bro .my saying is fuck it at least I tried..I have a 03 dodge Dakota,I took out the 4.7 an I put a 5.9l rewire the whole truck.ran it for a week, wasn't too happy so I took it out an I just got done installing a 5.3 in my datako..ty
Im swapping from 4L60E to a manual NV3500 on my 00 tahoe. Would you be able to help me out with the reverse light wire's colors?
Love your vids! I'm doing the exact swap and in the same way I'm not about spending my hard earned money on parts I know I can make , I'm gonna attempt the wiring but I'm dropping in a 4l60e along with the 5.3. I'm watching for the ac hook up if you are gonna do it so i can follow what you do.
Also would you remove vats and other un needed things for others ecu's ? People here charge like they looking for me to put their kids through collage. Keep it ☝
It costs 2 credits to unlock PCM to remove VATS ($100) unless you have umited license which can be thousands of dollars...
Hey @ 28:50 do those grounds just go to ground wires that are soldered all together in the harness? I domt seem to have them unless I cut them off can I just solder new grounds where they all meet ?
@@guzlndzl yeah they all go to the same place... PCM will have grounds also.
@@BlaserBuilds thanks, life saver
I guess I cut them off with out thinking
@@guzlndzl Maybe just do a double check and make sure PCM has all wiring needed. And keep that in mind if you have any odd issues at startup, grounds are something that get easily missed in a good situation.
