The video section starting at 20:54 was the best, but camera work too shaky and quick. I replayed it and got the information I was looking for. Like color of wires and quantity of wires. I am new to this. Bought an unfinished LS swap with the engine running, but I want to double check the wire work and make sure all the gauges work. The old gauges are non-op and I am installing a new digital-electronic set up. Feeling overwhelmed but very motivated! Good work on the video and thank you!
Best thing I have found to removing the plastic loom and tape is a sewing stitch cutter. I’m tackling wiring on my first swap in the next few upcoming weeks hopefully it goes smoothly. It’s not a ls but thankfully I am doubling the power over stock and gaining fuel injection
It all sounded fantastic right up to the point where you have the haul out the multi meter and trace all the power wires that all look the same... it was then I realized I was trapped in a nightmare :-)
This was actually very helpful, thank you. Here I am under the dash trying to take apart the harness wondering if I actually need anything that goes past the firewall. It's my first time doing an engine swap, and I'm actually really surprised at how smoothly everything's going. Bolts aren't seized, clips aren't breaking, I haven't bashed my hands or fingers, seals aren't tearing, I keep expecting something to happen and it doesn't.
bro you answered just about ALL my (newb) LS harness questions in less than 1 minute AND you mobo jumboed! Excellent! My 1st move to fi and last thing i wanna do it leave junkyard and be like, oh dang - i should have grabbed this/that - THANKS!! i wanna do a dirt cheap stock ecu (re programmed) 5.3 with 706 heads and a cam spring upgrade - which I WILL vlog cos i wanna do 350, 383 then LS comparison! my 350 is already FAST (it really is) but of course that wears off quick- my buddy got a 550 crate and i wanna whip him with a junkyard build haha

I honestly find it easier to de pin entire harness and separate everything. Then plug each sensor in one at a time and adjust length. To wherever your ecu will be mounted. This way you can hide or tuck the harness super easily and it looks great when you are done, also prevents rats nest
Great video, lots of information. Had a question though. What did you do to change from using a MAF to speed density and why? Was this done via the PCM programing and is a stock pcm capable of being reflashed for this? Once again great video.
I have an 05 LQ9 using Lt1 Swap info and have several wires that color does not match ? on Blue C1 connector pin #7/ circuit # 2705 it shows grey GRY color and my wire is Yellow ? still on Blue C1 pin #45 it shows GRY and my wire is Tan ? All other info so far applies but I am confused on what to do with those two wires. Thank you in advance for any help and you vid is the BEST !
Hey Mike, did you ever do a follow up video where you wired up the ends that you cut off from the harness, like the tach signal and wiring the fuse block?
Great video, I too use that same site for the harness that I do. Great source for doing a harness like this. So you boys enjoy Alberta Premium Whiskey with Mountain Dew eh? That's great guys
I need to know if I can remove oil and coolant level without issue on a regular old Silverado not stand alone. Also which cruise control wires can I get rid of

I believe it depends on the individual ecm if they have the option. Closer to 2003 the better as it's more likely to be capable of both. If you found an ECM at a Junkyard you may be able to google the part number and find out forsure.
I followed your video on rewiring my oem ls harness to integrate with the new holley terminator ecm that controls my high performance engine. My question is, will I have fault codes and reduced engine mode, and if so, what is the fix? Thanks man!
It's basically just setting the ECM to ignore the code by changing the "Check Engine Light". You can tell the ECM to not watch for that error or report it.
Good videos just subscribed to your videos have. Question can a 05 silverado harness work with a cable tb i found a harness in good condition for almost free thank you for any info
I am about to pull a 5.3 out of a '02 silverado for a swap. Should I leave the harness attached to the motor where I can or is it easier to just pull it separately?
Another great video. Do you need coolant temp to run speed density? Does the wideband have to be fed into the ecu? I sent my harness out, and don't have coolant temp in the harness anymore, and my wideband isn't wired into the harness.
@@SPPTVarmy Thanks. The plug that was the coolant temp plug is labeled IAT, and I don't have a coolant temp. Now I have to tear into the harness I already paid for smh. Guess I'm back to checking pinouts.

Do you know what color wire is connected to both the injectors and coil packs My swap cranks but no start seen on a forum some guy spliced into that wire with a 12v relay
So, I still have this giant wiring harness laying over the top of my motor. Does each injector really need its own pink wire running all the way from the fuseblock? Any reason we can't splice them all together at the back of the manifold and run one slightly larger wire over to the fuse block?
