i'd love to find the cute little metal head who showed me this band at our local Indi shop in Salt Lake City. She gave me her reserved copy of Undoing Ruin. to you, from me, "Thanks for the meeting in space and time, for you will be on my mind. forever in a day always raining on my parade."
That pre-chorus section has a gnarly In Flames vibe to it. "When thy art is hate" segment. So fucking awesome. Combined with how Lonestar rips, makes this song something I'll keep coming back to despite it not having that old DH thrash to it.
Darkest Hour never disappoints. They keep the sound fresh by slightly following what's popular in the metal scene, but not taking it so far so that it sounds generic or boring. It's always unique, and that's why they're one of my favorite bands. Not sure how I feel about Travis yet, I think Ryan would have added more double bass which I have to say was a major part of older DH.
The drumming style of the last few albums was so stale and predicatable though, I for one am so glad they got a new drummer. More groove, less straight double kick and double timed snare style beats. So rad.
AjEgerman Thank you good sir for having a great opinion that actually matters. +1 internet respect to you. Darkest Hour is one of those bands that try to evolve their sound while still keeping roots. Love em too much.
I can already see the fist pumping in the crowd for when they play this live, great groove! These guys freaking rip on solos it's awesome. Looking forward to this album, their one before this was REALLY good. It's called The Human Romance, check it out if you haven't heard it
I love the vocal tones. Much more balls than in previous albums. Undoin Ruin and Sadist nation are still my favs but i'm stoked to hear the rest of the tracks. I love Darkest hour.
dear god people... in music... some one is always going to copy/steal/barrow... its how the music industry is... its still good music... you can point to any song and then point right to another that sounds just like it. darkest hour still kicks major ASS
i agree with you a wiseman once said it like this . there is no such thing as true 100% originality, all ideas have to come from some kind of influence and be developed from there into something new. There's only whether you know where the influence has come from or not which effects how 'original' you perceive something as. Quote Liamengl
Guitarist Mike Schleibaum gave it some context: "Along with a new rhythm section, we also chose a very different route for the album's production this time around. While we have worked with well known producers in the past (Brian McTernan, Devin Townsend, Fredrick Nordstrom), we chose a much younger and more local producer in Taylor Larson. He recently gained a lot of attention after his work with Periphery and after spending some time working with him, we knew he was the man for the job. Tasked with making the most sonically modern, melodic and diverse Darkest Hour album yet, Taylor looked the challenge right in the eyes. He uncompromising approach to pushing us as songwriters and musicians was unrivaled. It took a young heart with a fresh perspective to get this album moving in the right direction and Taylor was the man in the driver's seat."
i have been a massive fan of darkest since the hidden hands of a sadist nation album and in my opinion this song kicks fucking ass its powerful riffs and groove make you fucking head bang..... they are going to have awesome solos on this album as we just heard but you don't need to show of with melodic, fast drums or bass or whatever.... these guys have really stepped up and improved so fucking much also musically hearing a change from the band is awesome and i cant wait to hear this new album so just enjoy and listen :)
really like this. good metal. straight forward, well produced and brutal without getting too chuggy. this is different and very refreshing. oh yeah and... Travis Orbin and stuff. K
dayum this is a kick ass track ,i have only heard a few songs by this band but i'am gonna have to invest some time in listening to all their music ,10/10 imo \m/
This is definitely the most "un-Darkest Hour" (if that makes sense) song but I'm sure the album itself will be just as great, if not better, than what they did on The Human Romance And!! Think about this.. this was not the song that they've been teasing on TH-cam or live. I trust these guys to give us a solid album :-)
The way he sings the chorus reminds me of Threat Signal. Anyone else think that when they heard this? Sounds sick dudes, fuckin' diggin' this for sure.
Its a good track but I expect a lot more on the other tracks on this album since dh has been a pretty technical band. Now that they are on Sumerian records im expecting them to utilize their technical playing and produce music truly unique to be on par with Sumerian bands like the faceless and veil of maya but overall this track is pretty good but I expect more from the remainder of the album since dh is capable of such lengths.
I agree with you, the technical tone in this song has been lowered by a lot, but nonetheless I keep hitting replay to listen to the song. I find it weird though, but it's because I'm not accustomed to this. I hope the rest of the songs goes tech overdrive.
Darkest Hour has never been technical. The faceless? Veil of Maya? They're melodic death metal or metalcore, I've never heard more than an inch of technicality
Brian Portillo Because you could rip any solo from The Faceless no sweat, right? Both of those bands are extremely technical and their songs are very difficult to execute.
Brian Portillo you sir must not have listened to the solos in songs like sound the surrender or the tides from previous darkest hour records. While the song structure itself isn't tech deathish the solos are pretty complex. And from what I remember the faceless are prog/technical death metal technicality exists in pretty much all of planetary duality. Veil of maya is technical deathcore/djent with prog as well. You get the technical playing in songs such as its not safe to swim today and the muscle memory timed breakdowns. Idk what your definition of technicality is but it exists greatly with the faceless and vom.
Djent IS a subgenre! Where have some of you been? It's not just a guitar tone - the song structures incorporate syncopated riffs, polyrhythms and polymeters. Listen to djent bands and you can hear that the songwriting and approach to rhythm is what makes it djent. Educate yourselves. A low-tuned guitar just chugging is not djent.
This is pretty dam good but I hope the rest of the album is more riffy like their previous material. Their guitar work has always been my favorite thing about them!!
I like this band. I really do, but I can’t get used to the way John pronounces certain words.. like at 0:36 the words “soul” and “all”. The way he lands the L sound sounds like Cartman.
So much people have no idea what they're missing by not knowing Darkest Hour. One of the greatest band!
This is good but I always find myself going back to Undoing Ruin, that whole album is sick.
Yeah that was a classic
Tranquil!
/agreed.
Darkest hour is fucking good .... Any album ... But undoing ruin its the best
Have to agree with you. That's my favorite DH album ever!
Quite easily one of their best songs ever released.
Idk why everyone says no cleans Deliver us was full of cleans "Demons", "Tunguska", " A Paradox of Flies"
The first few seconds sounded like an Ulcerate track. This is the most impressive and grown up this band has ever sounded!
Love the voice at "When thy art is hate..." ♪♫
I love the vocal style at 1:02
I can't think of any other metal singers that come through so clear while still kicking so much ass.
taylor eke i believe ''Artas'' has those samiliar vocals though i think theyre music is diffrent its still a very good band imo
jaymiedw5 checking them out thanks for the mention.
The Zerk Anders Friden?
The Zerk Singer of In Flames sings the same way
great track, encompasses all previous works and adds a new dimension keeping it fresh but still undeniably DH!!
Sound so much Pantera in the second solo wow. im falling on my knee I LOVE IT
I haven't been impressed with production quality on anything like this in a while. Sick tune!
i'd love to find the cute little metal head who showed me this band at our local Indi shop in Salt Lake City. She gave me her reserved copy of Undoing Ruin. to you, from me, "Thanks for the meeting in space and time, for you will be on my mind. forever in a day always raining on my parade."
that solo has a lot of influence of Mr Dime
Walk sound lml
wish there was an instrumental of the song somewhere, I would listen to it all day...
the beginning of the song is fkn amazing. chorus is okay . overall i like it
So stoked for this album, this song is awesome.
That album kickass!
Love it.keep.it.up.darkest.hour fan since the 90s true.fan.here
That pre-chorus section has a gnarly In Flames vibe to it. "When thy art is hate" segment. So fucking awesome. Combined with how Lonestar rips, makes this song something I'll keep coming back to despite it not having that old DH thrash to it.
Behind the lines somewhere in some other time behind the veil obscured by my vision of hell-love how conceptual this song is
Darkest Hour never disappoints.
I don't know about you, but I think the drumming towards the end really stood out. That said, I think Travis is doing a great job.
The drumming style of the last few albums was so stale and predicatable though, I for one am so glad they got a new drummer. More groove, less straight double kick and double timed snare style beats. So rad.
I just need to get used to the new drummer, I was so used to the style of their old drummer. Need time to adjust, ya know?
AjEgerman Thank you good sir for having a great opinion that actually matters. +1 internet respect to you. Darkest Hour is one of those bands that try to evolve their sound while still keeping roots. Love em too much.

I love the vocal tones. Much more balls than in previous albums. Undoin Ruin and Sadist nation are still my favs but i'm stoked to hear the rest of the tracks. I love Darkest hour.
I like the rhyming scheme.
I love this song, this album is just fucking amazing! Wasteland and Futurist are my favs :D
Mark of the Judas is one of my favorites!
dear god people... in music... some one is always going to copy/steal/barrow... its how the music industry is... its still good music... you can point to any song and then point right to another that sounds just like it. darkest hour still kicks major ASS
ps... rock on darkest hour.
i agree with you a wiseman once said it like this . there is no such thing as true 100% originality, all ideas have to come from some kind of influence and be developed from there into something new.

This is the darkest hour I used to jam to. about time they got their mojo back.
Travis Orbin killing it as usual, never really listened to DH but this song is damn amazing.
I love this already.
great mix. thick as hell!
whole new band for me.. i like it. :)
I love the way he pronounces "all" and "fall" when he is screaming
i really like the groove in this one.
His screams have always been so fucking badass!! Love darkest hour!
absolutely love this song, has some mega riffs and a proper infectious groove ;)
This guy has been re-incarnated to have a voice that sounds like that.
This is amazing.
Pretty awesome ! , still waiting for this álbum !
Definitely wasnt expecting this from darkest hour
It's cool, little different but has the trademark DH sound as always!
A new side of Darkest Hour and it's fucking sick! Cannot wait to see what the rest of the album brings holy shit!
This sounds like a heavenly combo of In Flames, Bullet For My Valentine, Children Of Bodom, and All That Remains.
De lo mejor que he escuchado en mucho tiempo, perfecta fusión de estilos.
Clean vocals done right
Guitarist Mike Schleibaum gave it some context: "Along with a new rhythm section, we also chose a very different route for the album's production this time around. Didn't know what to expect since I have never heard them before. I enjoyed it
Also 'A Paradox With Flies', 'Doomsayer', 'With A Thousand Words To Say But One', etc!
In other words....Darkest Hour is fucking awesome!
Danny Geurten *In other words* Kris Norris is awesome.
BIlly Tabor
Haha true true, but even without Kris the band is awesome. John's vocals make it so good. The rest too ofcourse.
real metal here.
Their old stuff is absolutely terrific. I'm not a huge fan of this stuff.
I like every Darkest Hour album, and I will buy this one too, but yes, Undoing Ruin, and Deliver us are the master pieces of their career.
YES YES YES
Dimebag all over the place!
Fuck yes!
Damn this song is good
For those of you who don't know, the old periphery drummer Travis Orbin is in this band
i have been a massive fan of darkest since the hidden hands of a sadist nation album and in my opinion this song kicks fucking ass its powerful riffs and groove make you fucking head bang..... they are going to have awesome solos on this album as we just heard but you don't need to show of with melodic, fast drums or bass or whatever.... these guys have really stepped up and improved so fucking much also musically hearing a change from the band is awesome and i cant wait to hear this new album so just enjoy and listen :)
Yep. I fuckin love this album. Fantastic shit in my opinion
Been waiting, waiting and waiting! Finally this album is gonna drop. Sounds promising!
great
Love it! Finally a band who has gotten better on their 2014 album (unlike many I've heard so far)
really like this. good metal. straight forward, well produced and brutal without getting too chuggy. this is different and very refreshing. oh yeah and... Travis Orbin and stuff. K
dayum this is a kick ass track ,i have only heard a few songs by this band but i'am gonna have to invest some time in listening to all their music ,10/10 imo \m/
The more I listen to this song, the better it gets
forget the "its djent" or its "groove" or its yada yada yada
ITS METAL! LETS LEAVE IT AT THAT!!!!!!
I'm diggin this shiz right here.
Wow. I'm ready for this!
So good
The solo remember me to Dimmebag Darrel :')
So pumped for the album!
No vinyl? No pre-order. I llke this a lot though.
Such an underrated song... needs more love and HEADBANGIIIIING
really good stuff!
Best Metal Core Album of 2014 by Far. Darkest Hour fucking rips it in this song
This is definitely the most "un-Darkest Hour" (if that makes sense) song but I'm sure the album itself will be just as great, if not better, than what they did on The Human Romance And!! Think about this.. this was not the song that they've been teasing on TH-cam or live. I trust these guys to give us a solid album :-)

damn this is masterpiece
old IN FLAMES style)) very good!)
Oh fuck yeah! About time!
very nice.
Great video ...
Fucking Awesome! I like the vocals and travis sounds amazing...
Another fav haha
am I the only one that really likes this ;-;
I know it's way softer then before but still I really like it
OMFG is Amazing!!!!!

some of that solo sounds almost completely like it was taken from cowboys from hell. im sure its either an ode or probably just unintentional.
dat dimebag-esque solo
These men speak with open eyes....wow
I'm skeptical now but will probably love this album when it's out just cuz it's darkest.
This is really fucking good!
I expected something bit different from DH but i settle with this =)
pretty different for Darkest Hour, but as usual they deliver awesome music
I fucking love how similar this and Miss May I are it's amazing
well i like it, not brutal, but is good. Like the lyrics
i fucking like this!! good job DH
This is pretty dam good but I hope the rest of the album is more riffy like their previous material. Their guitar work has always been my favorite thing about them!!
Anyone else get a lamb of god groove feel from this?
its okay i hope the rest off the album is a little more riffy
Not djent just tuned low.. remember that song LOW on undoing ruin? same concept just with a diff sound and riffing
I ... Fucking love it
I like this band. I really do, but I can’t get used to the way John pronounces certain words.. like at 0:36 the words “soul” and “all”. The way he lands the L sound sounds like Cartman.
HERL YEUH
Holy fuck, they stepped it up
