Make a nice seafood red miso broth with that lobster head, add some seaweed and lightly chopped herbs, ah ~~ then relax for the evening, its delicious. Same with Salmon head, I usually make a huge pot of broth, freeze them and then use them for weeks later.

Night diving is some of the best diving I have ever done. My best experience was in the Great Barrier Reef off of the coast of Australia. Warm water and insane clarity. - Its crazy what lurks in the sea in the night. One moment, you are shining a flashlight on a little fish hiding in the reef, the next moment a huge shadow appears and that fish is gone. - All right in front of you.
I'm sure someone else will tell you this, but that guy could have gotten in trouble w F&G for having that many lobsters in a bag, even if they were all legal. You need to make sure your lobsters are legal before they go in the bag. It's better for the lobsters and will keep you out of trouble.
Glad to see I wasn't the only one to notice that. That would/should have been a hefty fine. Most likely would have been fined for two things: undersize and over limit.

@@thomaskim7158 The law states you do that in the water prior to putting them in the bag, that's what made me cringe. Besides, when they were sorting the small ones they didn't immediately return them to the water. Any game warden would have cited them for that. Edit: autocorrect error

Thanks Taku. After many years of spear fishing I am inspired to go lobster diving. Took vacation on August 31 to be out there at midnight on first day of the season. The lobster ramen did it. Excited to make that. Probably not as tasty in warm Maui. Ha ha. Your videos are inspiring, educational, and entertaining. Keep up the good work.

Just to be clear for those attempting to catch lobster for themselves it is illegal to catch and bag under size lobster and measure them on shore or aboard a boat. You must measure and release short lobster without taking them into possession which means you cannot bag them or keep them in any device to be measured at a later time. Also you cannot possess more that 7 legal lobster so a bag of 20 mixed legal and short sized lobster to be sorted later is illegal. Dive safe everyone happy hunting!!

Spent one thanksgiving in 2016 on the island and set the lobster trap, every 30 minutes we had 5 or so legal sized ones that we threw on the grill. Ate lobsters all night with the crew. Miss that island
Two people as a team can catch lobsters in the daytime. One person has a "hypnotizing stick". Basically something straight and three feet long. You put the stick in front of the lobster and it will crawl towards it. This lures them out of holes. Then the second person just grabs it from behind. Works great...
