Actually, most of the world drives on the right side of the road just like America. Of 195 countries in the world, 165 of them drive on the right-hand side
And the imperial system thing wasn't the US' fault, Britain imperialized it into North America, and when the US wanted to try this fancy new "Metric" system British Privateers pirated the bpat carrying the metric weights. And now the UK pretends they don't use feet and inches.
The 195 countries are only the ones recognized by the United Nations… if you count all countries… it’s 165 Right handed traffic and 75 Left handed traffic. (141/54 if only UN Countries). And between 1909 and 1986, 34 LHT countries switched to RHT. Most notably Sweden, that switched overnight in 1967.
Apparently the main reason why a lot of countries drive on the left is because of self defence reasons. Because most people were right handed so it was easier to defend yourself. Nowadays it’s mainly because of the way cars are designed. So if the majority of the vehicles in a country have the driver on the left side of the car. It makes sense to make people drive on the right side of the road.
It's not just any Ferrari who said that, it was the real Michael Schumacher Ferrari. And why did I mention that? Because of a little fun fact: Michael Schumacher ist actually the voice actor for that Ferrari in the german and italian audio of the movie.
The funny thing for me is how a lot of people nowadays don’t seem to realise that just because something is old it doesn’t mean it’s automatically going to be ugly or low quality. Even sonic games in the mid to late 2000s had amazing looking movie quality cgi cutscenes. So honestly when I hear/see people complain about graphics and stuff like that nowadays It annoys me a little bit. Because most of the time it’s people complaining that a game or animation doesn’t look exactly like real life.

I love this movie. All the clever ways the world is built around the cars, the classic Americana imagry, and the message about slowing down to find what's really important in life. It's just so good.
39:45 he actually did, in a book where they talk about their pasts before radiator springs, mcqueen brings up that he went to a racing academy with his best friend, however on final test day his friend sabotaged him, causing him to repeat the year in the academy all over while his friend moved on to racing. this is also why he doesnt trust anyone to change his tires in the first bit of the movie.

Cuz they apparently loved his voice for Mater so they just ended up giving him more scenes. I think he's just living off the residuals of these movies now lmao
My favorite part of this movie is after King crashes & McQueen goes back to help King say “you know you just gave up the piston cup? & McQueens says “A grumpy old race car once told me, its just an empty cup.” Thats one of the best lines of character development I’ve seen in a movie.
He goes from this massive asshole with an ego and superiority complex to this actually decent car who literally gives up his dream to help an older car to the finish after being totalled like that. He could've won and then did it but the principle was more important than the victory. EVERYONE there immediately respects Lightning more just for that alone.
Oh definitely does surface level it’s seems silly but that’s why it’s works so well. I want more people to realize animation can convey and tell such deep emotions and story telling just as well as things that live-action too.

My childhood Pixar film that I watched all the time so much so that till this very day that my father will still joke about the lighting McQueen faster than fast bit anytime a quick motion happens in any sporting event to make me and himself laugh.
Cars 2 does it's own thing, while cars 3 feels more like a follow up to the first one. Each movie there's a time skip with cars 3 having a specific amount of time between the it and the first movie making more of a sequel to the first cars.
Something I never noticed before. Doc's front right tire is slightly flat. What a brilliant way to convey an old injury from what is essentially a sports accident.
10:50 no the only country's who drive on the left instead of the right are Japan, India, Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan, Mozambique, Suriname, East Timor, Indonesia, uk, ireland, malta and cyprus
Actually, that "the worthless world building of Cars" video is pretty good. I goes through all the lore and also points out that these movies really....don't go into the world building of how a world inhabited by vehicles would work, like at all. It's really just the real world with a cars theme over it.
14:18 those cars should have been arrested a while ago. That's basically attempted murder, I don't even believe that that hasn't been used by assassins yet.
I think their tires are like shoes not their feet. I think their feet could be considered their rims and the tires are shoes and as they "run" (race) they ware down like they would for us and that's why they have to change them or they fall apart (just like ours do when we wear them forever and put them through everything)
I got this movie on DVD as a Christmas gift from one of my dad's coworkers when I was nine years old. I played the Cars game on PS2 all the time. Cars was as integral to my childhood as...just about anything else. People might dump on the 2nd movie, but 1 and 3 are great films.
There's a deleted scene that kinda explains how the cars live. In the deleted scene the townfolk wanted Lightning to compete in their first ever Radiator Springs Grand Prix to lure travellers back to their town again. Lightning refuses, choosing instead to do community service. Only to wake up and see a reflection of him as a steam roller because Doc removed his engine from his race car body and put it in the steam roller, then he tormented him further by putting Mater's engine inside his original body. Then Mack shows up and picks Mater up, mistaking him for McQueen and drives off. Lightning begs Sherif to stop him but is forced to continue working on a road that is ten times longer than in the actual movie. The whole thing was then revealed to be a nightmare but there was an empty steam roller husk sitting in the corner. Panicked that what happened in the dream would play out in real life, Lightning changes his mind and agrees to do the race. So I think if a car wanted to change models they could by having their engines removed and placed into another body. That means the cars aren't them essentially but their engines.
It's funny how from the start of the film you guys were questioning the logic behind the car's anatomy and how they apply in their universe along with daily obstacles. Everyone questions the logic because you can tell that not much thought was given to the film's lore 😂. It looks like a world made for humans but it has sentient cars instead of the world being crafted for the sentient cars. A movie that did this correct with its world's aesthetic is Robots from 2005
Man, the lesson of this movie really home... i dont really like when my dad take the highway every time our family going on roadtrip. That becuase there a different between highway and the long road. Highway were boring and scary at the same time. Boring becuase there nothing to look at. Scary because of how fast all the car are around you and stop are so far apart that you never know when to stop driving. The long road however have a lot of "pit stop", the road is fun to look at becuase it change as the time go on. It the journey not the destination....
The fact that with this and transformers are the films that made me facinated with car culture and racing not cars and racing themself lets make that distingtion im just glad i like these franchises including the recent transformers one when it comes please watch it
What wild is that of the earlier Pixar movies this was like the only one fans/critics shit on. I to this day can not understand why. I can understand the second and third movie catching shit but the first one was genuinely a good movie.
10:42 "we're one of the only ones that drive on this side of the road" dude, most countries drive on the right, the ones that drive on the left are mainly just the other former British colonies like Australia and India (which is probably why you thought driving on the left was the "standard")
Fun fact, there was actually a "Trains" movie that showed some of it's concept art recently. It was like subway New York with the Spiderverse aesthetic but it only got as a far as showing the art and never got worked on. It would've probably would've been the best spin off since we all know how Planes is really garbo...
The "Cozy Cone" is a riff on the Wigwam motels that used to be out there ("Sleep in a Wigwam!"), basically giant cement wigwams as rooms. There's still two left, one in California, one in Arizona.
I watched this movie A LOT when I was a kid😂and now it’s my younger cousins’ favorite movie. Not the best Pixar movie but it’s still a good story, McQueen maybe having the best evolution of all Pixar characters
38:19 fun fact: there was a scrapped concept where Radiator Springs would have held a race to put themselves back on the map. Doc would have given McQueen the option to do the race or fix the road. There's a deleted nightmare sequence where McQueen dreams that they put his engine/mind into a paving machine and put him to work on the road. Mater then shows up in McQueen's body, and Mack picks up Lightning McMater and drives off, leaving McQueen trapped in the paving machine. It spooked me when I was a kid.
As someone who not only has been a NASCAR fan for years, but also have lived around cars my whole life. This movie is my most favorite Pixar movie of all time, like this movie couldn't remind me more of my home and my younger years. Also, on top of it too. This movie, is, I think the most beautiful, creative, and well put together Pixar movie, in terms of the art, background, the deep detail they put into this movie. For example, if you look at the mountains or the background of Radiator Springs, you'd see various, upon various references and designs of older cars all across the screen. Not to mention the VW "Bug" being a literal bug in the movie, and of course the various NASCAR and Indy car legends that were in this movie like The King- Richard Petty , Darrel Cartrip- Darrel Waltrip, Jr- Dale Earnhardt Jr. , Mario Andretti - Mario Andretti (the number 11 car talking to Fred, which was the same car he raced in the Daytona 500), and of course last but not least, Michael Schumacher - the red Ferrari at the end.
Imagine how many sports sentient cars can actually do, racing is like every sport combined to them, with the exception of like demolition derbies being like ultimate fighting or something
57:57 fun fact: this is my uncle. This was actually his last movie before he passed away in a car crash shortly after this movie finished filming. After this movie, my other uncle Jerome took up all the voices Joe did. Joe did storyboarding and Jerome did Sculpting
The British version of this movie had Jeremy Clarkson ( one host of Top Gear of the BBC and one host of the Grand Tour of Amazon prime) as McQueen’s manager. Also, which one are you 4 most like in the group @ 13:54 ? Edit: the Ferrari at the end is Michael Schumacher, 7 time Fomula 1 champion.
Honestly i know i‘ll probably make myself A LOT of enemies, especially being into cars and racing myself but i never actually liked this movie. Idk it always felt like … the story is missing out things which would’ve turned this into something better. Like for example i never felt like McQueen ever changed from being a dickhead until the very end where he suddenly was up to accepting the help from his friends. When he saw Doc‘s piston cups McQueen suddenly seemed to be nice towards him cuz Doc‘s better than him, never felt like he respected him or something. When he was with Sally he seemed to actually care for the others for once but idk it always gave of this kind of weird vibe to me as a kid and even till now. It just felt like as if McQueen never had this moment of self-reflect and the movie constantly kept him in this state in between. Also at the end as they suddenly showed up to his race like they all were strapped up and ready although McQueen arrive before them to the race.
I mean, that was the point of going to the tractor field with Mater. To learn that it’s fine to have fun and enjoy life. After talking with Sally, McQueen learns that Mater trusts him and he starts to change. He tried to respect Doc, but since Doc was being stubborn, McQueen criticizes him for not letting go of his past. McQueen didn’t become a perfect character. Even in later movies, he’s shown to get upset when things don’t go according to plan, sometimes portraying his anger on others. I think that makes him more realistic compared to other characters.
The King is voiced by racing legend Richard Petty (also nicknamed The King). He set a record breaking 7 NASCAR cup champions. That record hasn't been broken, but has been tied by Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Sr. His wife Lynda voices the wife in this movie as well.
I just gotta say, this was my absolute favorite movie as a child. It had been years since I had seen until a few months ago. I'm glad this 1st movie is getting more recognition nowadays.
Ok, not related to the video itself, but I recently read from a comment that you were only going to be covering the FOP specials and all that from now on. If this is true, then I honestly wish that you'd react to the Musical Special "School's Out". I honestly have so many fond memories watching it and I can't wait to see what y'all think of it... as well as what I consider to be some of the best villains in the whole franchise - The Pixies! Basically, they're pointy headed fairies who treat the whole thing like a bureaucratic business, complete with tons and TONS of paperwork just to get anything done and without any of the fun that comes with the whole magic and wish granting game. They're also ironically some of the funniest characters in the whole franchise due to how cartoonishly dull and emotionless they are, to the point where all of their dialogue (including screams) is spoken as monotone and soulless as possible.
The guy who calls him in his trailer (Harv) in this version was played by the same guy who voiced the agent in the EA Sports nascar games at the time and in the UK it was Jeremy Clarkson

My childhood Pixar film that I watched all the time so much so that till this very day that my father will still joke about the lighting McQueen faster than fast bit anytime a quick motion happens in any sporting event to make me and himself laugh.
That is amazingly wholesome :)
Cars 2 does it's own thing, while cars 3 feels more like a follow up to the first one. Each movie there's a time skip with cars 3 having a specific amount of time between the it and the first movie making more of a sequel to the first cars.
So basically it's Duology with a spinoff sandwich between it
54:23
Trust me, you are NOT gonna guess where the sequel goes from here
Something I never noticed before.
Australia and New Zealand
Actually, that "the worthless world building of Cars" video is pretty good. I goes through all the lore and also points out that these movies really....don't go into the world building of how a world inhabited by vehicles would work, like at all. It's really just the real world with a cars theme over it.
Best Pixar opening; and a classic film for us Boys growing up!
14:18 those cars should have been arrested a while ago. That's basically attempted murder, I don't even believe that that hasn't been used by assassins yet.
I assume that these guys are some sort of bikers
4:50 literally chick should be in prison he did attempted murder in this movie
I think their tires are like shoes not their feet. I think their feet could be considered their rims and the tires are shoes and as they "run" (race) they ware down like they would for us and that's why they have to change them or they fall apart (just like ours do when we wear them forever and put them through everything)
I got this movie on DVD as a Christmas gift from one of my dad's coworkers when I was nine years old. I played the Cars game on PS2 all the time. Cars was as integral to my childhood as...just about anything else. People might dump on the 2nd movie, but 1 and 3 are great films.
Lightning McQueen catchphrase KA-CHOW! is always his thing. He loves the spotlight
🚘🚘🚘😜😜😜
The fact that with this and transformers are the films that made me facinated with car culture and racing not cars and racing themself lets make that distingtion im just glad i like these franchises including the recent transformers one when it comes please watch it
I remember I used to playing that open world Cars game in the PS2 all the time.
One of best Pixar films ever made.
It has happy times, bad times and memorable times.
What a wonderful & incredible film.
Since yall like Owen Wilson in this you should totally check out The Night at the Museum. He’s great in it!
Still one of the hardest lines in any animated movie:
"You see trophies, all I see is a bunch of empty cups"
Rest in peace Paul Newman
@3:24 i've watched this movie for YEARS. I've never noticed how many sponsors he had on his body.
(At 50:40) look at all that recognition. Rest in peace Paul Newman.
31:08 OMG it does, how did I never notice that!!?? XD
I adore the end of this movie. Lightning's character development is so wholesome.
What wild is that of the earlier Pixar movies this was like the only one fans/critics shit on. I to this day can not understand why. I can understand the second and third movie catching shit but the first one was genuinely a good movie.
My favorite Pixar movie. After I got it on DVD for my 10th birthday I would watch it over and over.
When Ruffs camera freezes, he's mogging the entire time lmao 🗿📸
Please watch the rest of the trilogy. It's totally worth it 👌.
Except the second
@@davidflores7181 the second one is better
@@davidflores7181the 2nd is still good. It’s just a completely different tone and style to the other two. But I quite enjoyed it.
I watched that Worthless World Building of Cars like last night, they released this video at a good time
No matter what people think of this movie, it was part of my childhood and I appreciate it much more today.
I love Cars so much. Especially the beginning
Finally cars❤
The "Cozy Cone" is a riff on the Wigwam motels that used to be out there ("Sleep in a Wigwam!"), basically giant cement wigwams as rooms. There's still two left, one in California, one in Arizona.
the froze cam was unexpected but funny loved the reaction can't wait to see the next ones
I watched this movie A LOT when I was a kid😂and now it’s my younger cousins’ favorite movie. Not the best Pixar movie but it’s still a good story, McQueen maybe having the best evolution of all Pixar characters
(At 51:21) At least they got Larry the Cable Guy to say it.
My guess is that tires are like shoes for them, so Lightning's tires are like a pro-basketball player getting a sneaker sponsorship
I mean maybe not car beds but like car couch or car chairs idk how’d that work tho like parts on the side of chairs to make them look like cars
The rustees' brothers are a real set of brothers that do a radio show about car repair called Car Talk
Ok...Here we go...Focus...Speed...I am Speed...
"I am triple speed"
"Cars" was peak Pixar!
24:36 Well it matches the rest of Sorta Stupid 😂😂😂
Owen Wilson is so fun as McQueen😂❤
31:41 Frank was everyone’s childhood fear back in the day
I just gotta say, this was my absolute favorite movie as a child. It had been years since I had seen until a few months ago. I'm glad this 1st movie is getting more recognition nowadays.
Fun fact: Dinoco is the gas station you see Andy's mom stop at in Toy story, when woody and Buzz get left behind. XD
Never knew that. Pixar always leaving nuggets
Random matpat mention let's go
The guy who calls him in his trailer (Harv) in this version was played by the same guy who voiced the agent in the EA Sports nascar games at the time and in the UK it was Jeremy Clarkson
