Dope that you thought the movie was funny without understanding all of the references. You definitely caught some of the Boyz in the Hood references but now you gotta watch Menace to Society, Poetic Justice, Juice, Dead Presidents, and South Central.
Yes I was like there are so many movies they referenced lol.
I came to the comments after 18:28 and was like... _"yeaaahhhh uhhh, not really."_
I thought it was funny without seeing the source material too. Imo you don't really have to know what's being parodied with their films.
Never peeped the poetic justice joke about taking a road trip in a mail truck until today 😂😂😂 every time I watch their movies I catch something new 😂
@@disneytoysr4fun975it hits different when you know where it came from
This movie is basically a parody of all the serious 90's hood movies. It's a miracle this thing was even made. The Wayans are wild as hell
You acting like you about it
@@alexanderdiaz6396you a nerd
Pissed New Jack City never got a mention
They're making Scary Movie 6 next year.
11:19 "She got more kids than Mrs. Wayans". 🤣 A dig at their own mother.
Mrs Wayans got 10 kids, pretty sure there’s about 6 of em in this movie😂
Man I would've loved to have heard her response to that scene.

Black classic….a Blassic?
The spoof of his dad being younger was because Cuba Gooding Jr. was only six years younger than his onscreen father, Laurence Fishburne, in Boyz n the Hood.
Ricky and the lady that played his mom were 6 yrs apart too 😂 tbh I think the entire cast was in their 20s except Fishburne 🤣🤣
@@misstexas651whattt😂😂 that’s crazy
I always thought it was a dig at how young kids are having kids and they went so over the top that his dad was born already having a kid so he's actually younger than his own kid
@@rob-8742both
@2:00 He said that his dad was a couple of years older, not younger.
The Wayans family is LEGENDARY. They really don’t get the credit they deserve for putting so many stars on the map!
Facts
And Poppa's House just started and Damon Sr and Jr are back on the screen together and that show is already great after just one episode.
i truly appreciate y’all doing Black movies. usually with the other reaction channels they never touch on these types of movies for whatever reason, even if you don’t understand everything it’s nice watching along with y’all. love your content ❤️
Black movies in the 90s and early 2000s were fucking dynamite, the wayans dominated comedy and life was good
💯 agree
Probably because no one requests it.
@@tiffanykim2773 sure but the channels themselves could pick different genres of movies if they really wanted to just to change it up sometimes
💯 💯
“Janet wuz here” in the postal truck was in reference to Janet Jackson in the mail truck from poetic justice 😂
I ran here to say this because they're not getting all the references they didn't pick up on the Poetic Justice references they didn't pick up on the Menace to Society references we got to get them to watch more movies
@@alieat2I was gonna watch it over again and time stamp the references for others. But I gave that idea up 😂
Yeah and the line towards the end where Ashtray invites loc dog to leave the hood and he said "take a road trip in a mail truck? That's a dumb idea" I'm so sad they ain't pick up on that Poetic Justice reference lol
No that reference at 34:58 wasnt from Jungle Fever, it was from Menace II Society
Right! The liquor store reference "What you say about my momma" is from Menace II Society as well. Also, the concept of leaving "the hood" In which Dashiki plays Jada Pinkett's character.
Yup
lol He said it with such confidence
He probably got it mixed up because at the end of jungle fever a Crack fiend young woman walked up to Wesley snipe character and said something similar to him lol
The mail truck represents the movie Poetic Justice. With Tupac and Janet Jackson
“ what ! take a road trip in a mail truck , that’s the stupidest idea I ever heard “ 🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭
They need to watch that😂
"Janet wuz here" 😅😂
I always lose it at bernie mac saying "I hate the back of forest whitakers neck!" and then goes "AH!" bc it scares him 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Vivica Fox playing Tre's mom was a bite on Boyz in the Hood because Lawrence Fishburne and Angela Bassett are only like five years older than Cuba Gooding, Jr.
"We do not condone child violence. We do, however, find it extremely hilarious". I love the team 4 star reference LOL!
I swear Jaby and his laugh makes everything funnier‼️😭😭😭
Literally! I look forward to it every time!
This movie is a perfect parody. To understand all the jokes, you have to have seen a majority of the black hood movies that came out in the early 90s. It references, Boyz N the Hood, Menace 2 society, Juice, Higher Learning etc.
Also poetic justice and Dead presidents
And pop culture references all around the movie, ain’t nobody saw the White Bronco with a bloody hand print on the back of the window, when Loc and Ashtrey gets Arrested by Bernie Mac
I never knew it was a parody and still thought it was the funniest movie in the world as a kid lol.
South central is another one
Where are the “Juice” references ?
Aw shit a certified black classic😂I’m glad y’all enjoyed it
People GOTTA start telling people this is a parody of several movies beforehand. And they should have watched them first. They miss so many jokes and references without that context. Like why there were so many leaves falling 🍁🍁🍁
The way y’all wanted to laugh so bad when the store bell said “niiii***aaaas” 😂😂😂😂
The store entrance sound when someone black walks in gets me every time 🤣I say it randomly to this day
I swear i did this 2 days ago at the home depot.😂😂
"Message!"
The Wayans also starred in some serious-like movies like: "A Low Down Dirty Shame" and "The Last Boyscout!"
The woman screaming going crazy in the beginning when the dude gets shot is Kim Wayans
She did that Crystal waters music video parody right?? lol 😂
@@nunyabizz2642Yup Lol
Jaby watching any movie ever: “hey, I’m friends with that guy.”
nope..not a Jungle Fever reference but, a Menace II Society one..hence the name of the movie..Menace II Society, South Central, Juice and Boys N the Hood..
This man must have watched a whole different version of Jungle Fever
The lady who played the grandmother is actress Helen Martin who is a legend and I remember seeing her on television shows when I was a kid like The Jeffersons, What's Happening and Good Times to name a few.
This Movie Is A Parody Of The Black Films ‘ Boyz N The Hood , Menace To Society , Juice , South Central & Poetic Justice
Higher Learning and Dead Presidents too
Friday?

This was WAY before Friday.@@meswil
I only just now realized that's why the title of the film is so ridiculous: they tried to incorporate most of the titles of the movies they making fun of into it lmao
The pink rabbit slippers are a Damon Wayans reference from the movie Colors.
It makes me so overjoyed to see people besides just US cackling at these movies, it’s really like music to my ears! Thank you for including and appreciating black cinema!
Yeah but I wish they can lean into some other genres I told them to watch Love Jones

Super excited to see this. I’m glad yall get an emotional break with this one. It’s one of the light hearted black classics!
I really enjoyed the commentary at the end. Your cohost has a a great understanding of why the movie was produced, written and acted the way it was. I’m very impressed with the understanding and insights displayed. Bravo! ❤
I have watched this movie many times over the decades and only just now did I notice the plastic on the stove and posters, lol. Thanks!

Wow, I thought I was the only one, there alot of scenes in this reaction I never saw before even tho I saw this movie 100 times already

I get a certain joy out of watching aby trying to hold back his laughter at the n*g*a jokes! Whew! What a joy! 😂
you all watching black classics is going me so much life.
The woman running up to men getting shot thinking it's her son is there sister Kim Wayans who was also on In Living Color.
And In the House.
DEFINITELY watch "Requiem For A Dream" if you guys haven't already..such great performances for all of them, but especially Marlon IMO BECAUSE we know him as being the goofy one lol
Yes,he definitely showed a different side of his acting

@@darthken815 And Hollywood Shuffle was co-written by Kenan Ivory Wayans as well; a wonderful satire with a bit of parody thrown in.

Didn't know about that one. Thanks. I'm putting it on my "to watch" list. 👍🏿
i agree wholeheartedly with what was said at the end as far of having to consume media only based in black trauma. thank you for bringing awareness to this in your own way.
"I hate whoopi goldberg's lips. The back of forest whitaker's neck"...😂😂I haven't seen this in so long and I'm SICK at that line 🤣🤣🤣 I miss Bernie❤
Y'all have to watch Almost Christmas in December. That movie is iconic lmao
There's references from "Boys In The Hood" Poetic Justice(Janet Jackson and Tupac), "Juice", "Menance To Society" and Dead Presidents".😊
And South Central
The pink rabbit slippers are a Damon Wayans reference from the movie Colors.
another gem is that Lahmard Tate (Ashtray’s dad) is in this movie and his real life brother Larenz Tate is in the movie Menace To Society which is one of the movies they reference in don’t be a menace 😂
The mail truck is a reference to the movie “poetic justice” starring Tupac and Janet Jackson. Tupac played a mailman and they took a road trip in his truck

The Soul Train Awards was a huge engagement, every year Don Cornelius ran it. It highlighted the best in R&B and Soul in the '70s and then included Rap and Hip Hop talent. It was based on the weekly Soul Train show.
I'm obsessed with Jaby in a truly outstanding way. I could listen to him talk for days. He always has interesting takes and anecdotes to add.
Ahhhh man you are taking me back. I have a cousin who passed away years ago now, but we grew up watching and quoting this movie all the time. Thank you for bringing up some good memories.
i love that they put Kim in just about every Wayans film. I haven't seen this one in so long.
Oh y’all taking it BACK 😂 I swear I was wayyyy to young watching this but I think most of us were anyways.
Meanwhile, I'm 24 watching it for the first time😭

9:58 This is a reference to the movie "Poetic Justice"
11:18 "She got mo kids than Ms Wayans..."
13:58 references to the movie "Menace II Society"
17:13 This also references "Menace II Society"
23:06 "Poetic Justice"

34:11 "Def Comedy Jam"
34:48 You are mistaken, "Menance II Society" again
45:07 "Dead Presidents"
45:28 "Juice"
Also check out "Love Jones" and another spoof movie from the Wayans would be "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka"
U missed south central and and couple more scenes
This is a good reference list!
A Halle Berry movie a rarely see people react to Losing Isaiah
I still say “hurry up and buy” to this day 😂😂
Lol 'Gimme Money' is what I named my organization in GTA
They missed a lot of these spoof references. Menace to Society was the big one they kept missing
Yeah how do you mistake menace to society with Jungle fever.😂😂😮
@demetrisjohnson6046 🤣🤣🤣 yea that one was bad.
Grandma in the trash was a parody to Dead Presidents
N’Bushe Wright.
Man i clicked so fast, like who recommended this 😂😂😂 and the fact that they are watching it is hilarious lol .i hope they know its a parody of every black classic 😂😂 top teir
I wish y'all would've watched Boyz N the Hood, Menace II Society, Juice, South Central and more 90s hood movies before watching this parody to get all the jokes! But this is a great reaction guys 👍🏿🤣🤣
As someone who is biracial black and Hispanic I can confirm that it’s in every single race bc they believe the whiter your skin is the better you are as a person to elevate your family. Especially black guy and white women and Hispanic guys and white women
It’s true tho
The mail truck is a reference to the 1993 movie Poetic Justice starring Janet Jackson and Tupac. If you notice towards the beginning of the movie they have “Janet wuz here” on the back of the mail truck. And towards the end Marlon’s character pokes fun at the idea of making a movie surrounding driving a mailtruck. I’d definitely recommend watching that movie as it’s another black staple and so many tropes from this movie are presented in Poetic Justice as well.
🎉One of my favorite comedies growing up!! Use to watch with my dad all the time 😂 he was an LA punk that hung out at gangsta parties so he loved that movie. ❤
Halloween CLASSICS! :

2. Vampire In Brooklyn (angela basset & eddie murphy)
3. Bones (snoop dogg, pam greir)
4. Scream Blacula Scream
5. Candyman (1992)

'A HAUNTED HOUSE' is a good Wayans Halloween MOVIE
I didn't get it till I was older, but the reason why the Dad is so close in age, is because people said in "Boyz In The Hood," Cuba Gooding Jr looked too old to be playing a 17 year old. 😂 He was only 7 yrs younger than Lawrence Fishburne and they were playing father and son.
This is Dope!! Glad yall are watching this!!!
This is a cult favorite! The laughs per minute I get from this is a record that can only be matched with dumb and dumber x'D
this is so unespected and im ready for this

The sex scene at the fridge was a reference to 9 1/2 Weeks with Kim Bassinger and the convenience store scene with the shooting is straight up out of Menace 2 Society 😜
This must be a directors cut, cause I've seen this movie a million times and some of these things I've never seen before
“That’s a nice walker lady” 😂 I tell my grandma this daily, she has no walker btw
This is a comedy classic. Laughing all the way through
90s was such a great time for black movies.... loved watching them all when i was young.
Soul Food, Love Jones, love and basketball, Above the rim, How to be a player etc.
Hey Jaby, your friend Casey Lee was Dj Twist and took over after SW1 (Shawn Wayans) became a regular cast member on In Living Color!
Actually it wasn't Jungle Feaver. It was a movie Called 35:25 menace II society. The movie you're watching is a spoof of Boyz in the Hood , menace to society, South Central , Juice, Higher Learning other Hood. It's the Scary Movie of Hood movies
This was basically "Scary Movie" before "Scary Movie", but for black movies lolol it’s definitely a cultural type movie. A lot of us have been through these things or witnessed them so to have them at the time make light of or fun of was like a “breather” in some way. Even during the part where they’re profile in the Asian store that’s centered in their neighborhood. In Cali a 12 year old black girl was shot in the head by a store owner claiming she was stealing. She never ran or did anything but reach to get her money. So although they were over the top in that scene, we understood WHY and was okay with it. lol
Yes and no. It is. But, Shawn and Marlon were really following in their brothers footsteps from I'm Gonna Git You Sucka
@@popculturewatch8689meaning this was their spoof of monies before they created scary movie that was more mainstream and watched
