I somehow didn't even know that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions had such good graphics in comparison to the Wii version until I saw this video (I grew up with the Wii version as well)
I love Cars 2 and I'm dying on the hill that it's the most overhated film of all time. The game is just as great. I had the Wii version, and it was one of the only video games I had for part of my childhood, and I loved getting to play it. I still think it holds up well and is probably the most comprehensive Cars game to date.
The whole Queen only being playable in race mode isn't really censorship. It's more like a countermeasure. The Queen is the only DLC in the game that's free, so to balance it out (sadly) it's only available in the one race mode.
Cars 2 is my favorite of the trilogy. Is it a particularly well written movie? Not really, but it is by far the most entertaining. I just love how absurd it is and it is so unintentionally hilarious. They gave Mater a machine gun, what more could you ask for in life? Wasabi ice cream has become a inside joke between me and my brother
@@assassin8636 they did because it was Pixar that’d be like saying that people shouldn’t have high expectations for any film directed by Hayao Miyazaki
Sally wasn't in the cars 2 game because up until a few years ago EA had an exclusive license on porsches. If you look at racing games of that time period you'll always see RUFs which are very similar but technically counts as completely different cars.
It's a weird coincidence that both Michael Caine and Martin Jarvis have both voiced Finn Since they both played Alfred Pennyworth in the Batman franchise Michael in the Nolan Batman trilogy and Martin in the Batman Arkham franchise
Is mater actually annoying though? I never found him annoying in the slightest. He's actually quite a funny character. People just like to complain about nothin
He is to me and most people, he was supposed to be a comedic relief that makes an appearance a few times but making him a main character in cars 2 was a no no because his shtick of being dumb wears out very fast
He's like your best friend. Yes, he's kinda dumb, but can you be mad at him? Tbh, I always have seen for myself Mater as a friend, a really good friend. I always loved to see him on screen. Now I have real friend (While can meet them in real life, because we talk on platforms), but I still feel the big feeling inside me for Mater.
The thing that jumps out at me 1st when it comes to cars as a racing game is how much personality is in each car. A lot of racing games don't pick up a lot of traction because every racer is hidden inside their car meaning you can't see their fun taunts when they do a trick. Meanwhile in Cars, the majority of characters are recognizable with fun personalities that are on full display because...they're literally the cars themselves lmao. Not only that but the backwards driving mechanic not only serves as a great reference to the movies and meshes well with the rest of the mechanics but also allows you to see your car's face way more often. How is a movie license tie-in game _this smart?!_
Oh now you got me. This is literally one of my favorite games of all time, I've been trying to reverse the PS3 and Arcade builds to run natively on PC.. AAAAGH
Cars 2 was like one of the best chilhood games but at the same time was very unpopular. I can also remember how much I have been enjoying playing Sonic Riders. It is still strange for me why the game never got popular even among Sonic fans
Alright, I’ve got to say it because you’re one of the only channels I’ve seen mention this game: this was my Budokai Tenkaichi. As in, 7 year old me spent *days* on my Nintendo Wii grinding the same levels on this game (because I didn’t know how story progression worked lol), playing Mr Mqueen on the airport and Italy track to find all the shortcuts , failing the damn tutorial because I couldn’t figure out how to jump. Baby me was a diehard Cars fan, and seeing this game makes me so happy so thank you!
This game is my childhood! I play/played this any time I'm at my grandparents on their Wii. Graphics aren't as good as Xbox, but boy is it fun to play with my siblings!
Hi, Cars 2 speedrunner here, I'd like to make a clarification on what versions were released first. The Wii version came first, then the developers wanted to transport the Wii version into the PC, which... didn't mesh well. After a while, Xbox 360 and PS3 released with updated graphics and made the game look more pleasing and a bit more light than how the PC and Wii versions looked dark, as well as gameplay features that made it replayable.
This game is my bread and butter. Seriously. The music. The Gameplay. everything. great job on this video as a nerd of everything of this game you nailed it.
The PC port was apparently made by an obscure Chinese company that Disney bought for porting purposes (also it's less optimized, meaning emulating the Wii version, or even playing on the Wii, is the better option). Also, there's a 3DS version which, from what I've heard, is basically the DS version but slightly better.
OMG, you've just unlocked a memory i didn't even know i had. I loved this game on my xbox360. Now I'm contractually obligated to spend the next 45 minutes trying to find the disk and play it on my almost dead 360
This is honestly the only racing game that competed with my Mario Kart Wii time as a kid. It wasn't a polished masterpiece, but the spy weapons and down to earth tracks in cars was definitely a treat.
I absolutely love this gem of a game so I’ll attempt to fill in the piece of experience you couldn’t speak about: the multiplayer. I played this so much back in high school with my friends and while we occasionally played the vanilla races as you’d expect, we mainly played arena mode where the first player to get 20 kills (I think) on the other would be victorious. It was always so fun and tense especially when one of us would be able to find our way to a harder-to-access area and obtain the deadly satellite laser to explode an entire area in an instant. There was also disrupter mode where you basically have to obtain the device and plant it into your opponent’s base to explode it before they do the same to you. Very fun stuff, I really miss those days since we’ve all moved on from it. Also dude, for a channel with only 3.5K, this is some top notch writing and editing, keep it up :D
For some reason, Disney Infinity always had a proper PC port based on the full versions and not the Wii version which varies mostly in collectable locations.
As someone who played the multiplayer split screen with my brother and cousins, this game is an absolute blast! We haven't played it in years as time has gone by and all, but it likely will always be our favorite game to play together. For now, we'll sadly sitck to Injustice 2.
I remember playing this game all the time on the PlayStation. I had lots of fun with the races and missions. Also just loved how the car you choose would show up in the cutscenes, so you could get some pretty funny ones
I got this on the Wii U. It was incredible. There was a 2 person hunter style mode where you were in an open world map and you had to kill the other player with various weapon drops you could find. It was very much entertaining

I’m pretty sure I main’d this game for the better half of a year back in the PS3 days. Must’ve been either 2011 or 2012. What an amazing racer this was. I can remember having a friend over who was a cars fan as well and competing with him on split screen. I haven’t seen him in a long time but I hope he’s doing well 🙏
9:16 I actually pogged irl. That's such an awesome idea, and makes perfect sense in the Cars universe. This, standing on two wheels, the ability to smack an adjacent opponent, and the crazy shortcuts you can take are more than enough to make this game stand out from other racers. Genuinely an underrated gem of a game imo.
I think the battle arena mode was the hidden gem of this game. We spent so much time on it with friends! The arenas were so dynamic and the strategies were very indepth. You would always DREAD it if you friends got the lazer. So many fond memories
I had a blast playing this game on the ps3 when I was younger. I remember always wanting to buy one of the dlc characters, cause they had cool looking names in the garage, and I accidentally bought one by just looking at it, and pressing a few buttons.
