Fun fact: David Hasselhoff was written to be in this movie before he was even asked, luckily he said yes. And in addition to whatever he was paid, he was also given the 12-ft model of himself they used to film all of the scenes with Spongebob and Patrick riding on his back. That statue went on auction a few years ago.
Fun Fact: This movie is partially inspired by Homer’s Odyssey. It’s about a crew that venture across the seven seas, encountering thieves & killers, sirens (the Frogfish), a cyclops, a detour into the underworld (the trench), and have the looming threat of Poseidon/Nepton upon them. They even use a bag of winds!
I’m still in disbelief that it was Scarlett Johansson voicing Mindy. Before she even became Black Widow, she was already doing a role I liked, and for over a decade, most of us had no idea it was her.

I also theorize that the Krusty Krab 2 was cancelled after Krabs realized how he's legally obligated to share the profits with the manager of the second Krusty Krab and that's why it's no longer a thing after the movie.

honestly when watching this in the theater when it came out, I was about 9 and it didn't haunt me. It wasn't until I was older that I went "jeez... that is a sad scene." I was like that with a lot of movies as a kid and I'm not really sure why. Might have been because I watched too many that had a predictable outcome, which at the time I didn't understand was not inherently bad. I was the same way with watching Monsters Inc in the theater at age 6, I just didn't have the emotional intelligence yet to understand how dire the situations in the latter half of the movie truly were, and why the final moment is a beautiful tearjerker.

The epic story, iconic characters, and banger songs, and especially the build up to "Goofy Goober Rock" are all just amazing. Nah. If aponegbob ended here we wouldn't have the joy and memes of season 4 to 9. Also we wouldnt be talking about it as shows that end eventually stop being aired. Look at other 3 season shows.
As many as you know, this movie was meant to be the conclusion to the series, but Nickelodeon just saw the popularity the show had. And, like most companies with runaway successes, they milked it dry (not to discredit the good found in the recent seasons as there’s fun to be had in Season 5 - 8 for example, but it’s hard to find that kind of good). But, yeah, since this is canonically the end of the show’s timeline, i’m kind of surprised that they didn’t make an epilogue (I know there’s rightful controversy on SpongeBob’s spin-offs and whether Stephen Hillenburg allowed it or not, but a series on SpongeBob running the Krusty Krab 2 would’ve done ASTRONOMICALLY better than Kamp Koral)

I haven’t watched this movie in years, but it’s crazy how I still remember everything from it! SpongeBob was truly ahead of its time
This is the first movie I ever watched in Theaters, so this is like Nostalgia overload.
Btw did you know they made like a gigantic statue of David Hasselhoff swimming for this lol.
I think I watched the first movie when I still in my school.
I forgot how the end of the Shell City bit was some freaking Evil Dead shit, all of the taxidermy'd creatures coming back, it's the best XD
31:05 This one flew over my head as a kid, as even though I knew who Alexander Graham Bell was, we pronounce the name Graham as "gray-am" here in Australia, so I didn't get how the "clam" pun was supposed to work.
37:30 Funny how we just accepted this as kids. Like who in their right mind would’ve ever come up with this 😂😂
4:00 SpongeBob hitting us with that fluoride stare.
13:13-13:18, 13:36-13:41
BALD! MY EYES! One of the funniest memes I've laughed at
👀👀👀😱😱😱🤣🤣🤣
8:50 I Think Spongebob Is Drunk And Crying More Now Cause He Didn't Get His Job.
This movie was so good back in 2004 this is a classic childhood
The fact that you guys released this on my birthday makes this an incredible birthday gift.
I'm so glad you guys are continuing the series after this movie! I believe I haven't watched this show since season...10 I wanna say, and there are so many future episodes worth checking out. 💛
38:14 look at the cat meowing at you, LOL!
Okay, whoever made the timing for the subtitles needs to be fired.
What a goated movie. Watching this movie as a kid, that scene with Spongebob and PAtrick cooking under the lamp legitametle made me shed a tear T^T
7:17 I don't know why, but I feel like Sandy's gonna kick Eugene's dump truck tomorrow.
29:24 I cannot tell you how many times I tried to grow a mustache like Dennis did when I was a kid.
You know, the scene where Spongebob and Patrick slowly drying out from the lamp and watching them singing goofy goober theme song while slowly dying makes me cry when I was little. I know that there is an episode where Spongebob first met sandy in Tea in the Treedome. Spongebob and Patrick did dried out but didn't show them of them dying but in the Movie, it did show us of them dying which made me cry
I love everything about this reaction 😂, the Patchy cosplay, the cat, the commentary, all of it is amazing, and shows how much I love this channel 😅😊
the theater usher at the end is Margeina Tovah who was in fact in Raimi's Spiderman 2 & 3.
now That is a wild catch
Yeah I've watched this movie like a million times and this is the first time I realized that 😂
This right here was the very first movie I've ever seen in theaters! 💛
18:37 That is in fact Motorhead playing in the Thug Tug when Spongebob and Patrick arrive.
It's a rewrite of their song "You Better Run" from March or Die with "You Better Swim"
Give the thumbnail artist a RAISE, they've outdone themselves. 😂❤
This movie always has a special place in my heart, and I'm glad we've made it this far.
This is such an iconic movie and one of my favorite SpongeBob movies! I remember when this came out in theaters and I begged my mom to see it with me when I was younger
I had the soundtrack CD and bonus tracks for this movie! I remember
Goofy Goober
Under My Rock
My Tighty Whiteys
Where's Gary?
Now That We're Men
Man I had a mini karaoke machine I used to use with my older half sister sister...ahhh memories!
12:34 when SpongeBob says I deserve that manager job I heard him slip into the voice of the mayor from power puff girls
man this is still such a great movie all these years later. Genuinely one of my most favourite pieces of media ever
The video game for this movie was very fun (not as good as Battle For Bikini Bottom on PS2, but still fun)
Yeah that game rocked, I remember the goofy goober section being hell on earth though, as well as the driving time trials.
@meursaulty6672 Those were my biggest complaints about the game.
What a legendary childhood we had back then, that'll forever be remember
It makes me happy to see that even after maturating beyond our childhoods, each one of us still finds the way to enjoy this timeless classic.
RIP Stephen Spielberg 🍿💛
The editing for this video was amazing! Keep it up!
I definitely recommend watching Sponge Out Of Water as well eventually. Haven't seen SpongeBob On The Run, but would love a reaction to that too.
I can’t believe that insane how this movie came out 20 years ago and it still is the best Nickelodeon movie of all time and the we are men song is goated and at 28:07, this dance moves that SpongeBob and Patrick are doing is so funny as hell and I am men!
Sorta Stupid Movie reaction > Super Bowl 58
I know, it's an epic day!💯
34:02 This tune always makes me think of Cartman speed-running Casa Bonita.
26:55 just now noticing the patrick breasts😭
30:36 Oh damn I never realized it but that's gotta be ms Puff's husband
3:24 374 employee of the month awards? That means SpongeBob has been working at the Krusty Krab for 31 years?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!
According to google, Spongebob is 14 years old in the first episode, making him 45 in this movie... And everyone still calls him a kid
It’s crazy how many metal artists/bands have some sort of musical tie to SpongeBob like Motörhead and Pantera doing music for the show, to Corey Taylor covering the theme song on Doug Walker’s album.
