    Thank you for this video. I followed your method and was able to repair my stripped bolt housing. I liked how you didn't drill out the hole. A drill can get pretty unstable at times. I much prefer to do everything by hand especially when it comes to a delicate process like this.
    A couple of recommendations:
    1. Keep the non-stripped bolt in as reference. I almost threaded mine in on an angle to the point where the bolt (bottom one stripped for me) was hitting the disc when it was all said in done.
    2. Make sure to create new threads deeper than the helicoil and if possible, do a rough measurement of how deep the bolt goes in. If you create new threads and not enough of them, your bolt will end up doing the rest of the threading which can be a pain in the ass and could leave a bunch of debris in there which may cause temporary issues. Generally, fork lowers are made of magnesium aluminum which is ultra soft, so it shouldn't be such an issue.
    Either way, this is the best video to follow for this procedure imo.
    Thanks again.

    Hmmm I just bought a complete helicoil kit. Not sure if the drill hole is m8…but even with red threadlocker on it and tightening a m6 bolt with the brakes the helicoil keeps coming out and get stuck on the bolt.

    This works without drilling first? Nervous about drilling into my fork.

      if the hole is big enough then yes, if not you have to drill it to make it bigger for helicoil to go inside. If your threads are stripped you shouldnt be nervouse because you dont really have a better option ;)

      Threads are kind of holding but I can’t tighten it down all the way. It will keep spinning.

    So the helicoil reduses the "hole" by 2mm right?
    From a M8 to M6?

    • @Nexxxx
      @Nexxxx  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @stephanvanrooyen-xw5yn i mean you can say so, but better way to say it is that the outside thread on the helicoil is always bigger for example outside on this helicoil is M8 and the inside is smaller, M6 in this case. It can also be like m5 on the outside and m4 on the inside...

    • @Nexxxx
      @Nexxxx  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It it's m6 you will need to drill it and make the hole bigger so you can fit m8 helicoil
