After using a console and controller for a couple decades, I finally bought a gaming PC. I just decided to make the switch to keyboard & mouse yesterday. I love that you've given us some training to do on our own - not just jump into MP and adapt.
I'm 30 years old and now learning the keyboard and mouse this helped so much im going to try with recruit bots in a private game then keep increasing there bots difficulty then I'll finely try real players thank you so much this was extremely helpful.

6 weeks here and it's coming..but I'm still making adjustments in my keybindings..I do find if I'm in heated situations I can hit the wrong key! It's hard for me as I'm a old timer who's been on controller all my life..I played Apex to a decent standard consistently hitting Diamond..but now I'm like a noob with mouse and keyboard 😊..That said I've lost interest in Apex and moved over to PC to find other games.
I just started using mouse and keyboard around the beginning of June. I played a lot of Destiny 2 and COD campaign at first. I’ve played online the last couple weeks and it’s not great but my K/D is finally above 1 so that’s something I guess. Definitely gonna try these drills out.
i played console jsut about all my life until just recently. i made the switch literally like three days ago. and i have to say the biggest struggle by far is without a doubt getting used to keyboard and mouse. and my left forearm is in so much pain from using wasd so damn much lmao
I am still having trouble I believe it's because I'm so used to moving the way i want to and I may have too high sensitivity. I will try these tips😅 wish me luck
low sensitivity is not always "the right way". Pro players play on low sensitivity because the games they play (CS, Valorant, OW, Apex or even CoD) require high accuracy for small crosshair movements. Whenever the game requires large fast movements players tend to prefer a higher sensitivity. In games like quake or similar people will often use below 30cm/360°. You can even witness this with Overwatch pros and the heroes they play. Winston or Reinhard players used to play on high sens while ana players played on low sens. And high sens players in fast games use their arm to aim, too btw. The average sensitivity of a quake player may be twice as high as a CS player but the average flick distance is probably also twice as big in quake so in that case they'd move the mouse the same amount and use the arm just as much for aiming.
I’ll be honest, here it is 6 months later and I’m still using my controller. I know I should learn KnM but it just feels so unnatural. I’ve bought a $100 keyboard (razer black widow mechanical) and a $100 mouse (evga x20) yet I still find myself gravitating to my xbox elite series 2 controller.
i made that switch after years on controller , gonna tell you , nothing beats mnk , close range mid range long range , nothing beat it even aim assist , rotation AA and all that kind of crap , but you will need sometimes to master it , it was not that easy , but keep pushing you will capture it , thx man for the video , peace
Just something to keep in mind for people whose attention went to the tight 400 dpi aiming pattern, if you run such a low sense it will improve your aim but you won’t be able to turn fast enough in close quarters. It happened to me. Instead try to utilize the ads multiplier. I run at 800 dpi with 9.45 sensitivity w/ ads sense multiplier at .70 in mw2. It’s a very good balance especially for sniping in dmz.
I have zero issue making a 180 turn. It takes time and you need room on mousepad. 9 sense with 800 dpi is equal to 18 sense at 400 dpi. That's not a good setting at all. Way too high and goes against all of the points I made. 400 dpi @ 6.5 sense or 800 dpi @ 3.25 sense +/- 10%
@@Akryl1kz jokes on you I run 1600 dps and destroy kids all day long. And I’m a wrist player. Guys you don’t have listen to this you can play how you want and do just fine if you practice.
You can have your turning sensitivity on fast and your aiming on slow, u then can spin quick and then when u aim it slows down this is how I use playing dayz anyway and don't have any problems

Such a great video. Wish this video came out a year ago when i gave keyboard and mouse a chance. This would’ve given me the confidence and guide to get the feel and movement right.

I’m sure I’ll come back to this often for the next few weeks. Just to see what and how to tweak my settings and what movement to work on since I’m learning in creative.
I just built my first PC a couple days ago and the keyboard and mouse have been awesome. Never tried it so there’s a learning curve but aiming alone is super easy with full hands. Will take a while to get to my controller skill but I think once I’m there it’ll be a short visit before I lap it.
Great video. Thank you! I'm primarily a console player, largely because I have always struggled gaming with a keyboard and mouse. I have started to get back into PC gaming and these tips are helpful.
So I have been doing keyboard and mouse on off for about 3 months now, at first I would play K/M until I was getting slapped and then pull out the controller, the last week though I have been really putting in the effort and can see a massive difference, got 68 K 14 D in a multiplayer cod. My main issue is my finger seems to just press A and I sometimes walk sideways. But I will get there, anyone finding it hard at start just keep going
@Akryl1kz , This was, IMO, great info, and explained clearly, too. Thank you! I'm of an older generation and have stayed away from gaming, originally, due to comments from others, years ago. Every time I'd started thinking about trying, it always felt like it was going to be impossible, for multiple reasons. This video makes me think it might not be as impossible as I think. Thank you, again. I will, definitely, be watching more of your videos, for more information. 😊
I tried to use my arm and flicking with my wrist is so much easier, I know you said everyone is different, for me wrist is easy. Also can't play controller unless I max the horizontal and vertical. Great video.
I just got back into pc gaming never going back. I'm 32 loved pc gaming growing up. I have a steeleseries apex 3 I like having the keypad and I have enough space on my desk and arm length. I have a wired logictech g 503x. nothing crazy but thanks for the guide as im getting used to it again after a decade and a half.
I migrated from ps to pc 15 yrs ago, tried kb/m quickly realised theres too many keys to mis-press, controller you only have the buttons you need, much easier. With aim assist on black ops its a gift 🎁😀
I have to pull down while aiming and shooting to compensate recoil on controller as well not so different there. The transition is definitely a difficult one
My brother is trying to get me to switch to keyboard and mouse and im giving it major thought especially after this video. Thank you for info you mention the keyboard but what mouse would you recommend?
I am a full time pc player I never used any other device for as long and I can say that all that u say is true I never realized how much getting used to keyboard and mouse matters
Been using K&M for 20 years and don’t use any of the stuff discussed in this video. I play COD, etc and have no problem staying on top. My mouse is fairly heavy, I play better with a mouse I can feel. That said, if your just starting to use K&M, find the weight and position that suits you. Definitely not a one method suits all. Works for me…
Hey there {{3}}! As a fellow tech enthusiast, I understand that everyone has different preferences when it comes to gaming setups. If you're looking for an upgrade, have you considered the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a handy tool for maintaining a spotless environment and it offers dual-function capabilities with powerful vacuuming and blowing. It's a great addition to any desktop setup and perfect for keeping your peripherals clean. Check it out!
He's absolutely correct about the light weight mouse. I was using the G502 LightSpeed. When It was finally time to upgrade I got the 502x plus. Slightly different ergonomics, but the button lay out was the same so I thought that switching would be easy. Well the new mouse was considerably lighter. And I was playing like a bobble head from over inputting being use to the old weight. I lowered my sense and that really helped, crazy right.......
Hey there! Thanks for your comment. I actually came across this HOTO Compressed Air Capsule recently and it's a pretty neat device. It offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, making it great for cleaning your desk, car, and more. The key features include a brushless motor, multiple tubes, and high-quality filters. Plus, it's lightweight and portable for on-the-go use. Definitely worth considering if you're looking for a versatile cleaning tool.
1:41 I agree with everything except recoil as a someone who learned recently. So for higher sens / wrist aim and mid arm I’d say recoil is easier but on slower sens it’s harder for exclusively recoil. More strain on arm movements. However atm aiming is the right way to begin.
I feel that. In the beginning it's tough but you will get used to it just stretch your hands every 10 to 15 minutes And try to relax while you're playing. It's because you're building up different muscles you normally don't use it will eventually stop.
For games like Call of Duty Warzone2, the Aim Assist feature is extremely strong and effective. Why wouldn't someone switch to controller to take advantage of that?
Well now they merged it to a point where it pretty much doesn’t exist and keyboard and mouse allows way more accurate shots because you can pretty much instantly aim anywhere and there’s way more buttons for adjusting your play style
Thanks so much for this. . Im in Philippines and would appreciate learning about the best mouse, keyboard , mousepad, set up along with which keys do what action. My primary game, for now, is Bethesda's Skyrim. Thanks
I need advice as a now retired old guy ✌️ Ps4 gamer coming back to play Skyrim after 10 years and having terrible time playing now with PC and wired controller. It feels like my character bumps around and over shoots targets in ranged and melee fights whereas before using console controller I could at least engage in fight or navigate narrow bridges without falling off. Current set up is simple I3 laptop and wired Gamesir Tk4 controller. Any help appreciated.
This video got almost 100k views. Very helpful. Did you ever do the buying guide ? Wanted to know the best mouse you could recommend and keyboard ? Tysm.
It's hard to come across very helpful videos or videos that has the answers to questions I have. You're the third person i found that helped me out a lot. And I've watched plenty and plenty of videos lol Thanks Very Much.
I've been playing games for a few decades now, but almost exclusively on console. I've had a PC for a while, but I still mostly just play using a controller, but I think this is partially due to me preferring 3rd person view RPGs and character action games. I've only really used a mouse and keyboard in the past for old-school RTS games. I'm finally trying to use keyboard and mouse, and I'm finding that DOOM 2016 is a great introduction. The game was made for PC, and the gameplay was strictly made to be played using a mouse and keyboard. The fast-paced action and verticality of the enemy encounters demands not only precise aiming, but fast movements of your view since you are constantly surrounded. I'm honestly only struggling a bit with the non-WASD keys, but the mouse movement is perfect especially at these high 120 FPS refresh rates.
I recommend playing something low stakes, pve fps games like fallout 4 or destiny. You can casually play and get used to stuff without a lot of pressure. You have to let yourself be bad and potentially tank your kd. Playing pve let's you be bad while you adjust without feeling bad or upset for doing poorly.
Hey there! I totally get where you're coming from. Learning to play on a mouse and keyboard can be tough at first, but don't worry, it gets easier with practice! If you're looking to optimize your desktop setup, I recommend checking out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It's a compact tool with powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, perfect for keeping your desk spotless. It's got some great features like a brushless motor and versatile accessories. Definitely worth considering!
I have been playing CoD on controller for so long-an xbox elite 2-on xbox, i will prob stay on it, even though i can see the benefits of moving to mouse and keyboard. But now i found my new passion Star Citizen. There is no other way, i have to learn using a mouse and KB. This video definitely helps, though Star Citizen's movements are not that sophisticated on foot at least, in flight mode just as complex.
With the be a arm mouser topic, what if I don't have enough space? In my case, I don't have enough space (I could make room of course by putting my PC on the floor but will never do that) so we have to be wrist mousers? Imo each has to adapts to their special needs in my case, space is limited and it's kinda uncomfortable that's the reason I stopped trying to learn K&M.
thank you for this video. Im old & I have played with a controller since goldeneye. and because of goldeneye I learned how to play inverted. I have played inverted for 20 years. any reco's on what I should do as far as that goes?
I remeber goldeneye I loved it and perfect dark! Inverted is tough I couldn't do it lol. KBM should be easy to get used to as it's completely different than controller so you won't notice that issue
Hi, what keys do you have any special skills set up on for ease of use? I play New World which allows 3 special combat skills that you can execute in the middle of a fight. I am trying to learn combined movement and skill execution, which has proven challenging as I am an older player who is not used to gaming.
You should go more into dpi and sensitivity, I personally like 1600 dpi with really low sensitivity. But a first time user probably doesn’t know what dpi is and how they can play around with different DPIs and sensitivities to get the right feel for them
I had gotten used to keyboard and mouse and then completely gave up. I bought a PC and haven’t played on it much. My thing now is that I get pissed off because I don’t want to ruin my KDR. I practiced in private matched with veteran bots for a few days and that’s how I got used to it in about a week. Need to do the same thing again as I want to fully transition to PC gaming only.
So are you saying lower DPI = more accuracy? What’s the advantages/disadvantages of higher DPI? Edit I’m running 800 dpi now (from 1600) and I’m 2x better at hitting shots. Thank you sir!
My problem is that my desk isnt big enough to play with full arm on either mouse or keyboard. Idk what to really do because i know it would help and be more comfortable
sweaty af. I imagine my mouse+kb skill would be pretty high, if only i never started playing games on consoles almost exclusively about a decade ago, just recently i started playing with m+kb again, it really takes a bit to get used to it again. I used to be pretty good at it but now i feel like i have old men reflexes whenever i go back to m+kb

Appreciate the advice 🙏🏻
Fasho 👍
Video was very helpful thanks
Thanks for watching
Tysm.
Thanks bro! Glad it helped. Working on that now!
It's hard to come across very helpful videos or videos that has the answers to questions I have. You're the third person i found that helped me out a lot. And I've watched plenty and plenty of videos lol
Thanks Very Much.
I just switched to KB&M 4 days ago.
I'm honestly only struggling a bit with the non-WASD keys, but the mouse movement is perfect especially at these high 120 FPS refresh rates.
very helpful, thanks for sharing.
Glad it helped
Love The Names Of The Classes
Thanks 😀
This was so helpful, thank you! 😊
Thank you so much i will be changing over to PC soon are there any more tips that you can give for very new beginners with keyboard and mouse?
Thanks a lot broo ❤
Welcome 🙏
I recommend playing something low stakes, pve fps games like fallout 4 or destiny. You can casually play and get used to stuff without a lot of pressure. You have to let yourself be bad and potentially tank your kd. Playing pve let's you be bad while you adjust without feeling bad or upset for doing poorly.
Would you recommend a half keyboard and mouse?
This seems really really complicated and difficult. Had no idea this is so tough to learn .
It can be yes, but you can accomplish anything if you work hard 😀
Agreed to much of a task and aim assist is a cheat code 😮😂
@@paulreeves1787are u still learning mouse and kb?
This is a really good explanation, will try this out to try and convert over.
Very, very helpful!
Thanks for the video brother 👍 I'm definitely making the switch
Hope you enjoy it!
With the be a arm mouser topic, what if I don't have enough space? In my case, I don't have enough space (I could make room of course by putting my PC on the floor but will never do that) so we have to be wrist mousers? Imo each has to adapts to their special needs in my case, space is limited and it's kinda uncomfortable that's the reason I stopped trying to learn K&M.
killer instinct track
thank you for this video.
Thanks for the tips. Gonna get into PC gaming, and this will help.
Hi, what keys do you have any special skills set up on for ease of use? I play New World which allows 3 special combat skills that you can execute in the middle of a fight. I am trying to learn combined movement and skill execution, which has proven challenging as I am an older player who is not used to gaming.
You mean custom keyboard mapping?
@@Akryl1kz yes
Bro this is amazing
Thanks
Been playing mnk for about 2 weeks and trust it does get easier
Tried it, left hand cramped up after awhile. All the damn keys are jammed next to each other.
It can be hard at first
You should go more into dpi and sensitivity, I personally like 1600 dpi with really low sensitivity. But a first time user probably doesn’t know what dpi is and how they can play around with different DPIs and sensitivities to get the right feel for them
For sure good idea 💡
So my sensitivity should be set a way I’m comfortable with?
Higher dpi is faster and less movement on arm, hard to control recoil
What’s the best key bind set up ?
I’ve been playing on PC since 2017 and still use a controller but I feel like now it’s time for me to stop procrastinating and learn
This is what I was looking for! Thanks 🙏
Glad I could help!
I dont have room for a large mouse pad in my bedroom atm. Would you recommend doing the same thing but on a smaller scale?
Made the switch, I love it!
Thank you for this!!!! earn my sub sir!!! keep up the great work
Very helpful thanks
My problem is that my desk isnt big enough to play with full arm on either mouse or keyboard. Idk what to really do because i know it would help and be more comfortable
So that’s how they’ve been shooting me down all this time… that damn mouse and keyboard setup
Very good tutorial for an old head like me that’s been stuck in the controller realm forever
Dumb question but if I get a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard is there any delay I should be worried about?
Indeed yes. Wireless is fine just don't do bluetooth
pretty good video but you didn't mention any tips for actually using the keyboard
This is an incredibly informative video. Nicely done.
Thanks glint!
Getting my first pc in 2 months, gonna try to remember this video
Hit the vital points needed difference of mouses and keyboards senses n button layout 💯
Hi do you have to set us to use your mouse to move in settings? My mouse doesn’t move me its shooting I really hate that he keyboard. Thanks for this video
Recommendation for chair and desk I’m a big guy
Thanks man.
Very welcome 🙏
Do you allow auto sprint I feel like wasd isn’t too bad but then far down is the sprint and crouch at ctrl and shift so I was wondering if maybe enabling auto sprint would help?
Thanks for the tips good sir!
Your welcome 🙏
