    Oh my finally I found a video of someone making the Devon pouch with normal speed & a clear camera view ✂️🧵

      Thank you!
      I will say that most of my videos tend to be time lapse style. I'm so glad you found this one useful. A little tip is if the title of one of my videos says "First make" then it will be mostly if not all at a high speed set to music because it isn't intended to be a tutorial. If it says "Let's make it" then it will be mostly at normal speed and I'll be talking through a lot of it.

    Thanks for the video, it was helpful with good tips. I've made a dozen or so Redwoods and now I am totally hooked on the Sallie Tomato Myrna. Six made so far and 2 on the table, but thanks to your video I see a bunch of Devons in my future!!

      I'm so glad you found it helpful. I haven't made the Myrna or the Redwood, though I've had a few people mention the Redwood to me. May have to give that one a go. Thanks for taking the time from your busy day to watch and give feedback.

    I have this pattern, it drove me nuts that front panel, i made a couple of these one was for my swap on Sew Whatever group, terrible measurements , but I love the outcome when i finally got it done, I like how you did your top zipper , thanks for the video

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's part of what prompted me to make this video. I saw so many people had trouble with the measurements and getting it to piece properly that I thought I'd share my process. It can be a little confusing, and I do agree with a lot of others in the group that the price doesn't match the product. I feel like for a pattern at this price point there should be more precise measurements, or in the very least pattern pieces. I do love the end result though. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience!

    Thanks for the tutorial. I made my first one and had some trouble because I misread my markings on my plate and sewed my lining at a 5/8” seam allowance instead of 3/8” 🤦🏻‍♀️. I thought it looked really big but I thought to myself “no she said 3/8, I’ll trust the process”, lol. At least I learned from my mistake and will do better next time.

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You aren't alone! Actually, In this Friday's video I used the wrong seam allowance on the slip pocket inside the bag and didn't realize it until I was editing the video.

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for the feedback. I'm getting used to some new recording equipment and had my wireless mic clipped right in front of my machine which made the sound really loud when I was adjusting the stitch length and back stitching. I moved my mic a bit over halfway through when I realized how loud it must be. I overcompensated when editing for the noise and have (hopefully) since learned my lesson.

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, this is the most I've ever paid for a pattern and was pretty disappointed that it wasn't a better written one. I'm a bit more careful to research patterns that are written by someone I haven't purchased from before.

    You’re saying you pull your zipper at a 45 degree angle at the ends, but you’re actually making a 90 degree angle. Just for clarification in case someone is confused.

    Are you backstitching on the vinyl? I just started working with vinyl and hate it because everything I've seen says you have to tie off threads. But if I can backstitch it would make it so much more enjoyable! Also, do you have any tips on how to get the corners by the top zipper to pop out better? I've made two Devon's so far and both of them have "dents" at the corners because I can't get the seam to pop out enough.

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do back stitch depending on the project and what machine I'm using.
      *A lot of domestic machines don't have the same stitch length when back stitching as when stitching forward, so in that situation, I would tie off instead of back stitching.
      *On my more expensive bags, I will always tie off when top stitching.
      *For join seams, I back stitch. You can't see it on the finished bag.
      For the corners, any advice I give here will be guesswork without seeing it. Before tucking your lining into the bag, reach in and make sure that the seam allowance is laying flat inside. As you tuck in your lining, use a blunt tool to reach inside and gently push out that part.
      I hope that helps. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask and if I don't know the answer, I'll do my best to help you find it.

    Can I ask what stitch length you use for seams and for top stitching? Also do you have a preference in a type of thread?meant to also say I really liked your video, very clear.

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Selric bonded poly thread and love it with this machine. I use a 2.5 mm stitch length for sewing unless it's several layers, then I'll increase accordingly. For topstitching, I use a 4.5 to 5 mm.
