50/50 is the biggest heist they've ever created. You buy a gallon and it makes 2 but if you buy a gallon of 50/50 you're buying 50% water and the cost is like $2.00 difference but you're buying half water

Brup the coolant hoses by squeezing them! Both the right side and left! With the radiator cap off to get the air out of the system.

I have a 97 GMC sierra. It takes 4 gallons to properly fill the coolant system in this truck. Not 1 gallon. Mine also calls for the orange coolant with dex. So you might want to double check your quantity and which type you should be using.

Dexcool is generally redish. The orange or gold shit is universal. Also, you said 4 gallons, did you mean 4 gallons of 50/50 or 4 gallons of Antifreeze. You may want to double check so the viewers know. because I'm sure that is if you drain the engine block as well then you may need 4 gallons.

I got a Buick Century with the petcock burned to the point where I can’t remove it. Is there any other option besides replacing the radiator?

Pull off the bottom hose to change coolant. Don't need a petcock for that.

for the most part, but the thing is, imo anyways, even easier mechanical jobs sometimes can be a lil pricier than expected, BUT, that's cuz you're not just paying for the parts and labor. You're also paying just for my/the knowledge of the mechanic, just the fact that they actually know all the little things included in the procedure. Little things that seem marginal, that most at home D.I.Y. ppl don't know, do, or think is important, get left uncorrected and end up needing premature maintenance or sometimes complete overhaul all because someone thought they could do it themselves instead of paying someone whom is experienced in that area. I'm not knocking diy, as i am an learned amateur diy. I am simply strongly suggesting, DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST. That said, i do all my own mech work since every shop ive paid has not done or just a hack job, so im inclined to agree with the statement MOST mechanics are thieves. if its a flat rate for the job, dont do it. they should charge 4 parts then HOURLY, which they cant know how long itll take b4 they do it right?
