How to fix a petcock valve that has snapped off and left part of the plastic in the radiator petcock opening. This petcock valve was from a 2000 5S - FE Camry.
that happened to me earlier today , i was so lucky i got a pocket knife i sawed a lil spot on the plug that was broke inside so a flat tip screwdriver could fit in there i got a new plug for 5 bucks , next time i flush my radioator im just gonna get the clamps off radiator hose
what if you don't have a torch? And you only have electric burners, not gas? Then what? Any tips on how to get it out of there? Please help or post a link to another way; I don't have the money for a new radiator. Radiator is removed so it should be easier, whatever method is used. Would a bolt or screw extractor work? Thanks
I tried this trick and it did not work I removing the radiator out of the vehicle I carefully start drilling old plug to the point where was thin it removed it piece-by-piece and installed the new drain plug I would have been better off pulling the lower radiator hose to drain it
Exactly what happened to me, I was trying to pull it out with a "screw extractor" but it seemed like it only expanded by the friction in the center. I'll try this, thanks for the tip!
lifesaver. just enough grove to use a smaller screwdriver. must be red hot and move fast as mine didnt fuse together. in all it still worked . new drain cock is the bow tie type which prevents us from over tightening . or temptation to use our socket wrench. what a bitch it had me worried until i found this vid. good ole you tube to rescue!
1:38 probably a good idea to tell people to stick it into the plastic and then immediately remove it after you've melted into the screw, otherwise people will leave a red hot screwdriver in there making an oblong hole....
Man you are a life saver! I didn't have a torch I heated it on the stove. Let it cool and it came right out. Thank You For Posting!!!

Are you fr a woman tho
@@truth6565 you're pathetic.
Grabbed a kitchen knife and pushed it in, and came out really easy.
Better than messing up as screwdriver
My petcock valve broke off today and this technique worked like a charm! You are a life saver! Thank you!

Worked like a charm! Thank you very much! Great video!!!
try doing it with a soldering iron try to make a straightline so the flat head can turn the screw

Did you do it while it was leaking profusely?
First try to drain through lower radiator hose might be a good idea
Thank you, i didnt want coolant on me🙏🏾🙏🏾
Smart idea. I was just trying to jam a flat head screwdriver in there to turn it. It never dawned on me to melt it thru.
Thank you for the video. It was exactly what I needed. I did it myself under 30 minutes.

That gives it extra horsepower
He said he let the screwdriver cool for a couple of minutes after heating it up and melting it into the plug
What's the part number for the new plug?
Awesome! Thanks for the vedio!
