    This is a 2 year progress report on my 2020 Tofino. It has been a real pleasure (joke intended) owning this machine. The vehicle has been totally reliable and a joy to travel in. I have had only one minor problem and it involved the sliding door screen zipper. Pleasureway and Giant RV of Colton, CA fixed it ASAP. No other issues. We average 16 to 18 miles per gallon and totally love this van. However! Our grandson recently moved to the east coast and the upper bunk is no longer needed. My wife and I have enjoyed this quality build so much that we now have our sights on an upgrade. I just got off the phone with Giant RV and have discussed trading up. Of course it will be a PW but during the wait we still have our factory smelling (we don't smoke) fun toy. We highly recommend the Tofino.

    I ordered a Tofino exactly like the one in the video six months ago. It was delivered this past Saturday (11-30-19). The wait was worth it. An absolutely beautiful machine. My wife and grandson, who lives with me, love it. Marshall Maresh, sales rep. brought a prototype for us to check out and we loved it. The 2020 we got is perfect. I have no problem with the front seat and my wife at 5'2" can stand upright in front of the sink even with the top down. During the delivery familiarization presentation my grandson fell asleep up stairs. I had the cockpit windows tinted and added a Viper alarm system. The Ram Van is an excellent choice for the chasis. It handles better than my Honda Pilot. I can't believe the turning radius. This video pretty much says it all. Thank you PleasureWay!

    We bought the first 2019 Tofino and have lots of weekend adventures this year. So nice to head out after work to go camping or visiting friends/family. Looking forward to longer trips this summer. My only complaint are the back seats. I was hoping they would have added head rests. Very glad that Pleasure Way have continued this model.

      @@geostr7785 don't know where you live but in south texas it's impossible to stay in a van without ac for about 6 months out of the year. It's the combination of heat and humidity that make AC necessary. That's why tent camping is impossible most of the year here. A van would be even hotter. Just not possible.

    PW produces fantastic products. I watched a review of the Tofino and the new owner said they had a leak in the pop top. They were told that the pop top fabric is not waterproof but water resistant. The owner suggested if it rains to put the top down. Also, they suggested to spray it with a water proofing spray. If that's so, then this is really a vehicle for just one or two people. Where do you put the 3rd or 4th person(s) sleeping in the bunk if it's raining? PW, offer an option w/o the upper bunk, which would also give more head room. It makes more sense in that configuration. This van is a very cool design. Also, the updates to the cupboards, multiplex panel, and heating system on the 2021 are nice. You should also make the remote light control an app for your phone.
    03/12/21 - I watched a review of the 2021.5 Tofino on Advance Camp RV and the updates are great. I see you also flattened the running board and made the tread traction more aggressive, and the boards are cut shorter so you could raise the grey water drain and propane connection up so they are both protected by the running board, and have greater ground clearance, great mod. Now, hit a grand slam with the Tofino and offer it with no upper bunk, or an upper bunk that lifts with the pop top, so there is maximum head room from the back of the couch forward when the top is up. This would also allow you to access the windows in the pop top more easily. One last suggestion - offer the Tofino with no stove. Where the stove volume is under the counter, put in a silverware/junk drawer. Why?, if I'm cooking anything that will splatter it will get on the driver side seat (not a big deal, you can slide the seat forward or throw a towel over it). However, with no stove, I can buy a portable, counter top, induction stove, use it anywhere on the counter (to avoid splattering issues) and now I have a silverware/junk drawer. Also, if/when the induction stove fails, I can easily replace it w/o having to go to the RV dealer.

    Love our 2019 Tofino. Over 7,000 miles of adventure and the functionality is awesome. The solar, batteries, inverter combo is perfect. The amount of storage is unbelievable, much more usable compared to many larger vans. The Rolef screens are fantastic. The induction cooktop is so quick and doesn't heat up the entire van like propane.

    To high of a price point for what it is. Most weekend campers dont need all the frills. If you offered the basic design a pop top camper that you can drive everyday you would sell a lot of them. Thats what all the large RV builders dont get. Thats why so many people are building there own do it yourself units. Keep the pop up roof the bed in the back and the counter space. Get the price point to 50 to 55 K you will will have a winner.

    A few questions though;
    1. Am I able to add an aftermarket awning?
    2. If I were to put a Thule rooftop cargo box on the optional roof rack, is it completely necessary to remove it before I deploy the pop top, even if the contents of the cargo box was less than 50 kilos?

    Great video it's a great RV but if you questions
    What about air conditioning, do you leave the rv run all night?
    Or can you run the air without the motor on, and would that affect the engine battery?
    There's no Maxx air fan
    If the air can be turned on all night and no fan it'll be
    A sauna inside you'll melt
    You really should offer it without a pop top, it only holds 200 lb and if you're a single person you won't even use it
    Downside you have to supply your own porta potty or find a toilet

      The air on my 21foot Promaster is surprisingly strong and cold. I have a roof air conditioner as well but I live in Florida. You could run the engine all night for the dashboard air (!) but they build them in Canada where the entire country is air conditioned. I wore a sweater in July in Quebec. .

    Beautiful product and a very solid presentation.
    Pleasure-Way and its CEO has my respect for the quality of what his company builds as well as the very complete and straightforward manner of their presentations.
    The Murphy bed design first caught my attention with regards to your company, but this is an easier design to imagine using on a daily basis. Very nice.
    Only a few things struck me during video, vs. changes and questions.
    1) The optional solar looks like a larger panel type would fit, why only 200 watts? Thoughts on more capacity in the future or why this amount is adequate.
    2) The caveat about the valves freezing (thanks for the honest warning) left me wondering if you've considered some kind of electrical heaters so one could prepare the valves before attempted use.
    3) The rear storage area's laminate edges look like one of the first places that would show wear and tear to me. Do you see many of your customers modifying such areas with rubberized edges or protective films to armor against scratches and such? Is that something you've looked into?
    4) Sort of open ended question about what do typical owners, with reasonable cargo and passengers loaded, manage to use the towing hookup for? Storage boxes, bicycle racks, small campers? You mentioned the overall capacity for an unladen van, but more practically what is a common actual use for the towing capacity provided. (I don't really expect an answer here, it is sort of too big a question for this format. But it did cross my mind)
    Thanks.

    • @dougmanck4149
      @dougmanck4149 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cargo capacity is best in class but towing capacity is limited. And yes the laminate in the rear is very vulnerable. I have a chip out of the top of the vertical panel behind the sofa which for some reason sticks up about three inches above the horizontal panel. I've cut padded floor mats to size to cover the tops of those two compartments and the rear floor for protection and to keep stuff from sliding around.

    • @geostr7785
      @geostr7785 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dougmanck4149 If you don't load the van with max capacity, 2000 lbs, you can tow more. I will be towing a car and trailer to shows that weigh 4,000 lbs, but van will only have 1,000 lbs extra inside.

    • @geostr7785

    • @scottb6020
      @scottb6020 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not with this puppy. The tow capacity is 2900 for the Tofino. That decreases as soon as you add additional cargo, passengers to the Tofino itself and any weight that is added to the empty dry weight of a trailer or whatever one might be wanting to tow with the Tofino.

    • @scottb6020
      @scottb6020 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@geostr7785 No its not. Its a Class III hitch receiver. The class receiver hitch rating has nothing to do with whether the vehicle itself can tow the weight = to the rating of the hitch.

    Question- I've hooked up to city water, and also filled the tank and turned on the water pump, but am getting zero pressure or water to my spray hose in the back. Is there an additional value or anything else I need to do to get this to spray? I can't find anything in the manual or online. Thanks

    A little more storage or storage cabinets would be great or under the bed storage you have storage in the back but when the beds made that's cut in less than 1/2 and that's where the porta potty is going to go for people that need or want that just in case
    It's laid out great I just wish there was another option for heating instead of using propane like a gasoline heater that they have out now which can use either gas or diesel and heat your vehicle because her some places you can go like in a tunnel with propane I would like to see and induction cooktop

      Yes is does. The house batteries have 3 methods for charging. The engine alternator, shower power, and the solar panels. Thanks!

    Nice, but as I was raised in Canada, I’m not big on American figures. MPG? 2200lbs? I know your customer base tends to the geriatric but, I’m 51 and have never dealt wit standard or at least both. What’s the fuel economy in litres per 100?

    Why is there a lot of optional stuff? Just include it with the whole van since they are so damn expensive.

    • @TerenceKaplan
      @TerenceKaplan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually in my window shopping I've found the Tofino to be one of the least expensive camper vans out there.
      If your a weekender, you don't need a lot of the accessories (like solar), not including them keeps the price down.

    • @flyfish6473
      @flyfish6473 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's not a lot of options for this. Besides color options, there's Solar, screen doors, and roof rack. This is one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest, in this category that I've seen.

      No it will not fit into a standard seven foot garage door opening, We don't believe there is a van chassis other than a something like a Mercedes Metris that would fit.
