So now the new meta is to rush the armor crafting books, craft better nerdy outfits as you go, and hoard any non-essential books until you get the tier 6 nerdy outfit?
HIlariously, You can do this insanely fast because you can basically boost the Armor books above literally everything else by just not putting points into anything other than the main attributes and probably a melee weapon to facilitate getting to loot rooms.

You're about to hit the part of the game I called "The Duct Tape Crafting Simulator". All those level 5 or 6 tools, weapons and armor are going to take a ridiculous amount of duct tape. Duct tape takes glue and cloth. Glue takes water. One to two fully upgraded dew collectors gets you only six to twelve waters a day. Glue needs water and a fist full of bones in a chem station. Anytime you can, collect bones, you're gonna need them. Lastly, try to double raid the larger Savage Country, they're going to be as important as any bookstore. Collect every pile of clothing. You'll get cloth, armor parts, sewing kits, and legendary parts. Fun times...
I can tell you are new here, Iz has well around 7k hours in this game but the information is handy for new players. 😉👍

@@shikamaze1489 pretty sure ducttape was always a high requirement even on alpha 19, to 20. i pretty much keep a special place in either my bike or car for bones.
I've got 7 dew collectors with tarps and condensers, and I plant 35 super corn a day. I'm still low on duct tape, lol.
The trader Joel animation is like chicken. The body moves but the head is absolutely still. Creepy!

That's exactly it, I play with the health bars and it says something like "young bear" on the small ones.
Pre if you're going to just be hunting books it might be a good idea to scrounge up the money for a forgetting elixir and respec without putting points in grease monkey to even out your book loot to more of what you want, since you don't need forged ahead anymore.
Maxing out the crafting skill already removes the books loot bonus, you'll still find them but you won't find them boosted anymore. So i don't need to respec to fix my loot, its been fixed already. I might respec anyway to put those skill points into something more useful though.
@@IzPrebuilt sorry I kinda messed that up, my brain wasn't fully working. I actually meant advanced engineering, not grease monkey, to get less handy land and electrical and trap books along with forge ahead. Which you don't have any points in anyways, I forgot you went the lockpicking route. Again sorry my brain wasn't fully working I guess.
@@theoneandonlylored lockpicking actually doesnt boost forge ahead once you have over 15 now, which is dumb. latest patch.
@@mrrooter601 I actually don't think the change is dumb, I think what is actually dumb is them having 4 magazine series boosted by advanced engineering. The lockpicking change is easy enough to bypass on a new playthrough, you just read up to 14 forge ahead, and then stock pile them to read later. The telling part of the lockpicking change is that having 4 magazines boosted by advanced engineering isn't an oversight, its a clear design choice, they want it to dilute the magazine pool to stretch out how long it takes to progress. Most likely they would have liked to remove the forged ahead boost from lockpicking all together, but didn't want to deal that that level of backlash, and just compromised at 15.
Also I totally read on Reddit when looking up about who did his new voice that someone said Joel sounds like Ned Flanders and now I can’t unhear it😂

Wow, Joel sounds like Matt from Extra Credit...which is really jarring.
Points in attributes give an increase for armor mags. Points into the Armor Skills provide an increase for finding that type of armor. So a point into Heavy Armor would increase your chances to loot Nerd Armor or any other heavy.
1. Generate random world. 2. When it’s finished press F12 to take a picture. 3. Voila! You’ve got a map that shows you where the biomes are.
I literally did this in episode 1 I think it's clear I know that. I just prefer not to use it as a cheat sheet.
My trader Jen had that weird generation bug with just a weird hole in the side of her building. You can also crash the game by upgrading a block at the same moment as a zombie destroys it which nearly killed me. Aside from some jank I am pleasently surprised with 1.0 so far.

Yeah I'm not a fan of any of the new voice acting choices. Bob seems alright enough but Joel and Hugh? Yuck
The problem I have with the new upgrading if storage boxes, is you still can't pick them up, even with a claim block. Why would I wanna add that much integrity to something I might wanna move down the road?

I might use a forgetting elixir, and just put points into armor and my melee/pistol. Get that nerdy armor lvl 6 asap haha
The tiny bears are supposed to be bear cubs but they just look like shrunk big bears and thus it looks really dumb.

Warning: there is one nightmare Tier 4 quest to proceed with caution-Areana Caverns. I'm on my third attempt to grab my backpack. If you see the main loot off to the side but haven't gone through the POI because the 🤬 lights don't clearly mark the trail. You will see nothing but red dots dropping from the ceiling. It is full of bikers, spiders, green big mamas, and wights. I'm traumatized!!😱😱
at minute 10:00 we can appreciate a zombie's head rotating 360°

I feel this Joel would work better for Bob, although i prefer the old trader VA for everyone. New lines are cool, wish they scaled with quest tier though.
Way behind because life sucks so you probably already figured this out. On the dew collector if you have both the gatherer and the tarp you can collect 6 bottles of murky water every 12 hours in game. So 12 bottles every day if you can remember to check it every 12 hours 😅
I wonder if the smaller bears is so that the smaller hit box can fit through doors and holes better

Honestly, the nerd outfit seems like a trap to me. By the time you can make or find a T6 outfit, you probably won't ever need its bonus, which really isn't that great even on T6. At T4, it's basically a one in five chance, at T5 it's a one in four, and T6 is a coin flip. Given the extreme inconvenience in carrying books around to get to your nerd armor, it probably is legitimately not worth bothering with.
10:57 i know you have the chem station already, just wanted to point out another wood white medical cabinet- but i am unsure if empty ones will have an acid chance or if it has to still have stuff in it
the tiny bear is a baby bear they added it in the 1.0 its lower health pool and lower on everything else than a daddy bear like meat bone and so on

I found 30 books in The Wright Residence this morning in the snow bio. . There is a lab underneath the house also. Books on the 2nd or 3rd floor.

With all the dew collector items, I'm getting 6 clean waters. Every day when I get back to base from doing quests.
I don't believe you actually have to get tier 4 done to find out where the last trader is. If you talk to the trader in the snow (hugh i think?), i believe he just gives you the special quest to find Joel. I think he's the only one that can give the location for Joel but when I did my playthrough I was able to find hugh before I even completed tier 3 Poi's
On a 10k meter wide world, you could have a river that wide. On a 6k or even 4k world it would definitely be excessive.
there are 2 types of bears the smaller one and the larger one. the only zombie bear I saw was in the bear den. They also added the zombie dire wolf, I saw it in a horde night.
I feel like there is a tone like apsero from neebs gaming there's no sarcasm or inflated tones but it sounds similar to him I think
8:25 Im assuming you read the patch notes already, but you might consider speccing out of lockpicking when you take an elixer next and instead put them into something else. they nerfed lockpicking hard by capping the magazine bonus to level 15, after that it does nothing to get you forge aheads.
Just don't read the books until you've got them all

For the bridge over the lake. Most of the time I've found it, the bridge has been collapsed and I've had to go around. Still kinda a pointless local.

With the latest update, 1.1 or 1.2 they made lockpicking only give you forge ahead books until you get to 12 skill... I hope this is wrong.

Can you still make buckets 9f water or have they removed that trick? Cuz instead of water jars/tea/juice/etc you can just bring along one full bucket and then make yourself a little pond to drink infinite water from whenever you feel like.

There's tiny bears now in addition to other ones. Why I imagine you asking. For the same reason that there are cats in the desert biome now. You're welcome.
Are rivers really rare? My seed actually has some pretty massive ones in the desert biome. I had to make some big bridges to cross them because they are in-between my traders and the one bridge into town is fully broken

Does anyone know if it's possible to reset the challenges? My save got corrupted and after fixing it I can no longer see any challenge (they're just empty boxes)
I have to say i totally understand why you dont like building bases anymore… but as a viewer i feel like were missing a bit if the survival aspect of the game… (maybe its just me because i like creating architectural masterpieces (i build cubes))

Before I start watching this fix droped - Forge Ahead magazine loot boost from Lock Picking perk is now capped at level 15 of workstation crafting
question: which gloves for a baton user? Preacher lvl6 (light) dmg to zombies +60% vs Biker lvl6 (medium) melee dmg +60% vs Raider lvl6 (heavy) same as biker's vs Nerd lvl6 (heavy) baton dmg +60%? any thoughts?
Well all three are just +60% damage with the baton so just choose whether you want light armor, medium or heavy. Or if you want the completion bonuses of any of those. I took preacher to get damage with my batons, robotic turrets AND any gun i use though.
If you are not going for a specific set bonus or armor type (heavy, med., light) preacher gloves would generally be better because it also covers firearms and explosives, which you will most likely be using on horde nights to some extent, unless your going to do something like stand on a roof top all night avoiding the horde. The downside of preacher gloves is they don't cover non-zombie animals and the others do.
@@theoneandonlylored More important disadvantage: It's light armour, so a bit worse protection. Not a big deal early when your AC is bad anyway and 56 or 60 doesn't make a huge difference. But if you could have near 90% protection, a few % less means you take a lot more damage.
I'd use the nerd gloves until there are materials for luxury, then also craft the preacher ones for horde night only.
@@Rdlprmpf12 I think it's a playstyle thing, but I would rather lose the few armor points in favor of the 60% firearm damage since the idea with a stun baton is that you rarely will be taking damage due to the stun and ragdoll effects of the baton. However when those "oh shit!" moments happen and things have gotten out of control, and you absolutely should be using a gun to deal with a large group, that 60% damage with firearms from preacher gloves is more valuable than a few points of armor. I'm of the mindset that the best defense is a great offence in those "oh shit!" moments.
@@theoneandonlylored The idea of the stun baton is for me, that you can stun 6+ enemies in one hit and the "oh shit!" moment is over.
The way armour works in this game, a few points less really don't matter much unless you could have really good armor. All pieces are added together and what really counts is how much you are away from 100%. At 60% armor you can tank 250 points and take 100 damage, at 55% you'd take 113 damage. At 90% you can tank 1000 for taking 100, but at 85% you'd receive 150 and probably die.
Besides horde night I see one clear use case for stun baton+preacher gloves: An INT+AGI stealth archer (should be horribly powerful with 60% extra damage bonus) who uses the baton for THESE moments. Here it's even an advantage it's light armor like the rest of the gear (probably mostly from the rogue set).

The collector cause a solid amount of heat. You will start to get more zed attracted to where you build them
