Hey buddy, mine just came in yesterday for my 95! It worked perfect thank you, you do an amazing Job. Also, my wife loved the airhead candy. Haha. Thanks brother.
Hey Colt, I have one of these trucks as well & I'm keeping mine forever..... do you know if there's any dash replacement parts available out there? I've looked several times over the years & I'm looking again now. The inside of mine needs drastic help ! Anyhoo, I hope this finds you well. peace
Just installed a double din in my 98 gmc 2500 after watching this awesome and easy to follow video parts listed spot on. Should help anyone that’s ready to do it yourself. Thanks for what you do I think we all appreciate it.
Thanks JP…about to install a double din Boss in my 95 suburban and this vid answered a bunch of questions I had, especially about modifying the dash trim to make it fit! Thanks again!
Hey JP I used you video to install a double din 7 inch touch screen in my 96 Chevy Silverado c1500 and it's amazing. The only thing ive noticed about the bezel piece that snaps into place so it covers up the gaps when you install your doubled din is that mine had a slight tendency to slide down on the top piece that has the fold so I added a few drops of loctite automotive glue to make sure it does not slide and it worked out beautifully. I had no idea when I went from my single din Sony radio to a 7-in touch screen doubled din that I had so much more sound options to play with and I had my Sony tuned perfectly but when I installed the 7-in it literally took me about a week to dial down or up the sound quality in order to get it kind of close to what I had but having the option of a 16 band equalizer visually at my fingertips helped out a lot. I've noticed that these 7-in touch screens no matter what the brand have really bright highs and can really boost up the base on your subwoofers that I actually had to dial it down so it's not so chirpy and ear piercing. I also have separate tweeters that also made that chirpy sound Even brighter. I think anybody with a GMT 400 series GMC or Chevy truck should definitely upgrade to a 7-in double DIN touch screen radio because it looks amazing and so much easier to see the controls. Watching movies on it or TH-cam clips is a breeze if you know how to set it up and works wonderfully. But look at me I'm ranting on and anybody who has done this install it basically is very easy and your video made it even easier for me to understand how to do it. I realized that I have commented before but now that I've had the install in for a little while it is an outstanding difference visually and sound wise. Thank you for all these sound system videos. You really do help out a lot. I also watched your other video about adjusting your EQ on your 7-in touch screen radio and it helped quite a bit but my equalizer has more bands it starts out I believe at 32 Hertz and goes up to 20,000 kilohertz and it took me a little bit to adjust it. Now that I have just watched your video I could dial down or up and play with it just a bit more to get just a little better sound to match my subs. The problem I was having is either the subs were thumping too hard and the music was not quite loud enough or the music was too chirpy and not enough bass. I pretty much got it down to where I like it but a little tweaking using your video really helped out a lot.
Got a 98 man was about to buy a 100 dollar pre made dash for it you just helped me and saved me some money bro I need a double din cause my radio ain’t got a crossover
Not all touch screen radios have an adjustable crossover just one built-in unfortunately. Some of your nicer higher end radios do have the adjustable crossover. I set my speakers in my truck to cut off at 100 Hertz and from there on the subwoofer plays anything lower than that.
This looks exactly what I need to do to my 02 Escalade ext. hopefully with the rotary tool I just ordered I won’t have an issue. Along with the stereo kit that goes around the bezel
I'm putting a touchscreen headunit and new speakers in my 2000 Chevy k3500 these videos are awesome and so helpful do you or anyone in comments know if there's a video showing what part of the original radio framework needs to be cut underneath the dash so the new one will sit all the way back
The radio that I ordered was not truly expensive but it is a 7-in touch screen doubled din shallow mount radio so that way I would not have that problem with wires fitting or having to cut anything inside the dash. I wish I could help you out but there are videos I've seen here on TH-cam that show a regular size double DIN radio going in to a '90s model Chevy or GMC truck where they cut some on the inside to get it to fit perfectly. I can't remember exactly where I saw it but I just came across it and realized to myself, no, I'm not going to cut anything so I did a little research and found shallow mount 7-in touch screen radios that will fit in these trucks perfectly.
I’m having an issue with fitting all the wiring in behind/under the deck. I had to just remove my antenna adapter. How did you alleviate that? I’m gonna have even less room when I go to run my RCAs
Great video. I didn't realize I had to cut up my vehicle to fit a radio until I was almost done. So aggravated. Is what it is.... Would have done a single din if I knew. Thanks bud for the help.
I have a kenwood brand new radio hooked up with proper harness adapter and everything on my 1995 Chevy Silverado 1500 but radio turns on but no sound and I have the wires correct to each color code with butt connectors pulled and no lose wiring except for an orange illumination wire which is capped off and after hooking up there is no sound but if I connect the original factory radio I do have sound perfectly any recommendations on what it could be ? And I thought it was the radio but hooked up another one that was working as well in a another vehicle and still have no sound
I’m doing this but cannot figure out where to put the oem green/white, dark green, and gray that’s meant for the vss, data link, and dim feed 😔 any guidance would be greatly appreciated. 95 c2500
I learned a expensive lesson with these trucks...I removed my radio while it was still on and it sent my truck into security lock...the relearn didn't work...so I ended up buying a hp tuner and tuning the vats out of the system.never heard of any of this and come to find out it's common on these trucks
I installed a double din in a 1998 Eldorado recently with the metra harness but turned out the Eldorado factory connectors dont give 12v power so had to add a fuse tap to get the radio to power up, do you know if these trucks also need a fuse tap or the metra harness will work fine
just depends on the features you want. i usually go for kenwood or pioneer double din radios jvc is good as well just make sure you pay for features your going to use. some people get all the bells and whistles but dont use them and its just a waste of money to me.
A 10-in will not fit without a huge modification and the screen would have to be what they call a 10-in floating screen and it will stick out so far that it will cover the HVAC controls and possibly cut into your controls on the left like your cargo light etc. Now, if anybody has done a touch screen and been successful in some way I would love to see that video.
you might have to cut the dash a little bit for a 97 to fit a double din unless you get one of those double din digital media streamers they are usually shorter in the back
97-2000 needs to be cut, however digital media players do not need to be cut, i am doing this in my 99 yukon using this exact kit with a digital media player because i dont own any disks lol dont really need them in the digital age

Hi do you know whats the maximum depth for a Head unit?
Do you if they make those kits in other colors? I have grey interior. So wondering if I would have to spray paint the bezel
What if you put the radio in and it does not come on and your checked the fuses. Is there something else that you would have to check

Does this kit still work if i have the 'upgraded' radio in a 96, with the cd player below?
What size double din did you use? There are 7” or other sizes how do I know if it’s too big?
Yea I need that info too
I would not go anything bigger then the 6.2 inch double dins
What is the nifty tool you use to trim out the extra dash?
I would like to know as well
It was an airsaw I bought it from the snap-on truck but the sell them at harbor freight home depot and lowes
what if it don't snap in and the new radio is bigger then the opening in the kit i got.
What’s the radio called I’m interested in getting one.
Do they make a pigtail to from the original radio connector to the new one without cutting and splicing?
Crutchfield does a prewire for$15-25 extra if you order from them
