parts available out there? I've looked several times over the years & I'm looking again now. The inside of mine needs
drastic help ! Anyhoo, I hope this finds you well. peace
Just installed a double din in my 98 gmc 2500 after watching this awesome and easy to follow video parts listed spot on. Should help anyone that’s ready to do it yourself. Thanks for what you do I think we all appreciate it.
I live for comments like this. THANK YOU!!💯💯
@Mack Jagger yup, I've been watching on flixzone for months myself :)
Thanks for a direct to the point video. As someone who has wired many radios it's nice that this was a quick explanation for the question I had
Thanks JP…about to install a double din Boss in my 95 suburban and this vid answered a bunch of questions I had, especially about modifying the dash trim to make it fit! Thanks again!
good luck with the install glad i could help
Short sweet n to the point like you said ,thanks for the video ,bout to upgrade my stereo
Dude thank you so much I’m in highschool restoring a 95 Chevy Cheyenne and really wanted to do this and now I can 🙏

Same im in high school and restoring a 1995 Cheyenne

@@jptheinstallguy give me a link to the radio you installed
I appreciate this man it kept me from buying a $100 dash bezel, and I think it looks just as clean if not better
Excellent how-to. Short and simple! Thanks for the parts links. :)
Anytime 👍🏾
Hey JP I used you video to install a double din 7 inch touch screen in my 96 Chevy Silverado c1500 and it's amazing. The only thing ive noticed about the bezel piece that snaps into place so it covers up the gaps when you install your doubled din is that mine had a slight tendency to slide down on the top piece that has the fold so I added a few drops of loctite automotive glue to make sure it does not slide and it worked out beautifully. I had no idea when I went from my single din Sony radio to a 7-in touch screen doubled din that I had so much more sound options to play with and I had my Sony tuned perfectly but when I installed the 7-in it literally took me about a week to dial down or up the sound quality in order to get it kind of close to what I had but having the option of a 16 band equalizer visually at my fingertips helped out a lot. I've noticed that these 7-in touch screens no matter what the brand have really bright highs and can really boost up the base on your subwoofers that I actually had to dial it down so it's not so chirpy and ear piercing. I also have separate tweeters that also made that chirpy sound Even brighter. I think anybody with a GMT 400 series GMC or Chevy truck should definitely upgrade to a 7-in double DIN touch screen radio because it looks amazing and so much easier to see the controls. Watching movies on it or TH-cam clips is a breeze if you know how to set it up and works wonderfully. But look at me I'm ranting on and anybody who has done this install it basically is very easy and your video made it even easier for me to understand how to do it. I realized that I have commented before but now that I've had the install in for a little while it is an outstanding difference visually and sound wise. Thank you for all these sound system videos. You really do help out a lot. I also watched your other video about adjusting your EQ on your 7-in touch screen radio and it helped quite a bit but my equalizer has more bands it starts out I believe at 32 Hertz and goes up to 20,000 kilohertz and it took me a little bit to adjust it. Now that I have just watched your video I could dial down or up and play with it just a bit more to get just a little better sound to match my subs. The problem I was having is either the subs were thumping too hard and the music was not quite loud enough or the music was too chirpy and not enough bass. I pretty much got it down to where I like it but a little tweaking using your video really helped out a lot.
Got a 98 man was about to buy a 100 dollar pre made dash for it you just helped me and saved me some money bro I need a double din cause my radio ain’t got a crossover
there you go im glad this helped you out
Not all touch screen radios have an adjustable crossover just one built-in unfortunately. Some of your nicer higher end radios do have the adjustable crossover. I set my speakers in my truck to cut off at 100 Hertz and from there on the subwoofer plays anything lower than that.
Thanks man, I was thinking I needed the new dash kit ($120) but this way is easy and much cheaper
thanks for the video. saved me $100 bucks.
I'm fixing to put one on a 95 extended cab ,can you give me the info on that stereo and the kit please
This looks exactly what I need to do to my 02 Escalade ext. hopefully with the rotary tool I just ordered I won’t have an issue. Along with the stereo kit that goes around the bezel
No BS and straight to the point.
What radio did you install? Make, model and screen size ?
Thank you have a good day
Bro, you literally cured my anxiety with this project. Thank you. +1 sub by me. 💛☮😀
aaaaaye #BLESSINGS i love hearing stuff like this that my video helped you guys out so much.. Thank You for watching💯💯
@@jptheinstallguy #blessings for real man. You are great and got a sub out of me! Thanks again
Thanks for tha video I 👍👍👍 what was the model or brand to get one like your
I’m having an issue with fitting all the wiring in behind/under the deck. I had to just remove my antenna adapter. How did you alleviate that? I’m gonna have even less room when I go to run my RCAs
What is the name of the piece that you put on the board where did you make the cut
hanks bra, you made it super simple to do
Thank you so much! Exactly the video I was looking for
Perfect. Glad it helped
Do you if they make those kits in other colors? I have grey interior. So wondering if I would have to spray paint the bezel
What did you use as a holder were ur CD player was at
Where did you get the installation kit. I bought a 6in touch screen for my 96 chevy. I want to make sure i get the right one
In the description
I'm putting a touchscreen headunit and new speakers in my 2000 Chevy k3500 these videos are awesome and so helpful do you or anyone in comments know if there's a video showing what part of the original radio framework needs to be cut underneath the dash so the new one will sit all the way back
The radio that I ordered was not truly expensive but it is a 7-in touch screen doubled din shallow mount radio so that way I would not have that problem with wires fitting or having to cut anything inside the dash. I wish I could help you out but there are videos I've seen here on TH-cam that show a regular size double DIN radio going in to a '90s model Chevy or GMC truck where they cut some on the inside to get it to fit perfectly. I can't remember exactly where I saw it but I just came across it and realized to myself, no, I'm not going to cut anything so I did a little research and found shallow mount 7-in touch screen radios that will fit in these trucks perfectly.
What if you put the radio in and it does not come on and your checked the fuses. Is there something else that you would have to check
Great video man. Thanks for the help
It's what I'm here for
Did you have do separate wire for the hot?
Any double din units you reccomend? Looking to do exactly this. Great content!
just depends on the features you want. i usually go for kenwood or pioneer double din radios jvc is good as well just make sure you pay for features your going to use. some people get all the bells and whistles but dont use them and its just a waste of money to me.
What size double din did you use? There are 7” or other sizes how do I know if it’s too big?
Yea I need that info too
I would not go anything bigger then the 6.2 inch double dins
I installed a double din in a 1998 Eldorado recently with the metra harness but turned out the Eldorado factory connectors dont give 12v power so had to add a fuse tap to get the radio to power up, do you know if these trucks also need a fuse tap or the metra harness will work fine
Does this kit still work if i have the 'upgraded' radio in a 96, with the cd player below?
Hi do you know whats the maximum depth for a Head unit?
I’m doing this but cannot figure out where to put the oem green/white, dark green, and gray that’s meant for the vss, data link, and dim feed 😔 any guidance would be greatly appreciated. 95 c2500
hey there where can i buy the trim i got my radio from walmart but don’t have the trim
Awesome video. What kind of saw did you use?
It was a snap on air saw
Do you think a 6.8" stereo does it fit right??
I learned a expensive lesson with these trucks...I removed my radio while it was still on and it sent my truck into security lock...the relearn didn't work...so I ended up buying a hp tuner and tuning the vats out of the system.never heard of any of this and come to find out it's common on these trucks
Great video. I didn't realize I had to cut up my vehicle to fit a radio until I was almost done. So aggravated. Is what it is.... Would have done a single din if I knew.
Thanks bud for the help.
Single DIN 🤮
😂😂😊
What radio would you suggest for someone that just wants good sound quality and doesn’t need a touch screen
i would suggest a kenwood they usually give you more rms power for speakers right out of the box
Do they make a pigtail to from the original radio connector to the new one without cutting and splicing?
Crutchfield does a prewire for$15-25 extra if you order from them
Would this fit a 1996 Chevy Silverado? And this might be a dumb question but I’m putting in a 7inch would this kit still work?
All double din should work fine they are mostly the same size as far as depth and width some just have different size screens
@@jptheinstallguywould this work on the 92 silverado it’s the interior style for the trucks 1988 to 1994
What is the nifty tool you use to trim out the extra dash?
I would like to know as well
It was an airsaw I bought it from the snap-on truck but the sell them at harbor freight home depot and lowes
Thank you.
Is this a 7 inch radio or 6.2 inch!??
What radio did u use what brand?
You have to snap that head unit in before you put the dash back on correct?
Yes
What’s the radio called I’m interested in getting one.
What radio did you use in this video?
Does that dash kit come with screws to install into the unit? Thanks
The radio will have its own set of screws
Great job!!!!!
What was he cuting it with
I don't see the link to the insert you used as a template could repost it for me
What double din radio did you use
Good content
When is the dash kit coming back I to stock??
I have 5 in stock now
Tem o produto no Aliexpress ???
Good video
Nice
what if it don't snap in and the new radio is bigger then the opening in the kit i got.
How did the ac controls fit do I have a finshed video of climate working
the ac controls literally just go back in the same spot and never have to be unplugged so yes they still work fine
I’m having issues with my 2008 gmc envoy aftermarket radio wiring
Would this work on 1998?
What year trucks need to cut inside the dash? I seen your other video with the whole bezel and you cut inside the dash.. I have a 97 c1500
you might have to cut the dash a little bit for a 97 to fit a double din unless you get one of those double din digital media streamers they are usually shorter in the back
97-2000 needs to be cut, however digital media players do not need to be cut, i am doing this in my 99 yukon using this exact kit with a digital media player because i dont own any disks lol dont really need them in the digital age
Give me a link to the radio you installed
Did this and my dash lights went out what’s the fix?
My man 🤝
Yesssuh 🤜🏾🤛🏾💯💯
You should do a 10" android double din install on a 95 Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra
A 10-in will not fit without a huge modification and the screen would have to be what they call a 10-in floating screen and it will stick out so far that it will cover the HVAC controls and possibly cut into your controls on the left like your cargo light etc. Now, if anybody has done a touch screen and been successful in some way I would love to see that video.
What size radio?
What radio is that?
Will this work on a 97 GMC Sierra?
Should be fine they are basically the same truck
Link for the radio itself?
Which double din did you use?
Links in the description
Can't see the final product because of all of your linked videos in the way...
What kind of stereo touch screen is that.
6.2 inch double din
Will a 7 inch double din fit in the dash ?
yes i would stay away from motorized double dins though but yes a 7 inch would fit.
What size did you install ? What size do you recommend? I have never used one and thinking about it and hooking up a back up camera
@@jptheinstallguy motorized double dins are the ones that open to a screen correct?
@@theyounghawk screens tilt down for loading disk behind the screen, the ones that have the screen come out are usually single din flip out units
@@zbow1974 Ohhh gotcha thanks for the info

Where do I purchase the kit? Good Video
i have the dashkit wire harness and antenna adapter links in the description for you
Know by chance is it a 6.2 or 7 inch screen?
this was a 6.2 inch screen
@@jptheinstallguy may be a stupid question but if I installed a 7 inch screen would I have to move the hvac controls?
@@zacbeckham8789 7 inch screen should be good just dont get a motorized 7 inch. you could run into some fitment issues
How many inches is the radio?
6.8
I have a 96 silverado and didn't know you can do a double din in that truck
Well here you go...lol
Wish the radio itself was in the description literally can’t even find a 4” anywhere
What kit did you order?
Yeah, what kit did you order?
Put into run position then out to farthest then pull them
Tacky, but it works.
What radio is that
Boss audio navigation i think its a 9836 model not 100% though
👀...
What’s a din?
Just did this and accidentally cut through the top of the dash 🤦🤦🤦🤦
Oof
Would anyone know if this would would work on a 92 silverado ?
You made it look super easy, great job!
Thank you💯
Thank you
What radio do you use
what double din unit did you use?
this was a cheap boss audio radio i wouldnt recommend it because it always has issues but the customer didnt want to buy a different one
