Thank you for your video! I was nervous about breaking my dash but it was just because the clips were tight. Once I saw how the clips were set up I was able to remove it without worrying about breaking anything.
I did come here looking for a wiring diagram but you sir gave me info about something I didn’t know existed. this was very helpful thank you for the links as well!
wow thank you for this video. Im now realizing that the guy i bought my tahoe from took his dash kit out. i seen it on the floor but this is my first tahoe , so i didnt really trip off of it. Plus some how some way he had the stock dash kit flush but now im having issue. All good. having fun with the tahoe. its the lil things. Letsssss gooooo!!
To add on there’s no video like this on yt and it crazy how hard I’ve been looking for one like this for over a month and someone finally uploaded one !
So does that second harness connection in in og radio just connect to the cd player under the ac controls ? Cause I pulled both out and they have the same conenction
Hey, I just started the process to put in an Atoto s8 premium double din, I have the dash off but can’t seem to be able to unplug the antenna connection at the back of the factory radio. Is there any trick to it or does it just unplug hard? Thanks.
Very nice! I have a '97 C1500 that I'm thinking about putting a DD in. This really helped me see how to do it. AND I did not know that I could get a new dash panel with a DD opening! Thanks!
Hey man, great video! I have this exact Chevy . The whole console on the dash looks exactly the same. I’m hoping I can bypass my broken CD deck and install an old-school auxiliary cable to that instead. So that when I hit the button that would normally pull up the CD player, it will just go straight to an audio jack. Can you recommend some hardware for kind of interface?
Excellent video ! Thanks a-lot. Question: I got the same Tahoe and also saw your wiring video. If I wanted to keep the cd player, how would the wiring work out to connect it to the new Double Din unit ? Is it just as simple as not unplugging the cd unit?
Hi, I have this same Metra DP-3003 kit. Do you have any pics or videos showing how you lowered the Air Conditioning controls? The kit comes with the template for new installation holes, but I don't see how to lower it without doing some cutting of the dash. Did you have to make any cuts to lower the A/C controls like you did in the rear of the radio? Good video.
should just hook up the blue wire if that doesnt work some trucks with the bose system has a harness that has a pink wire that may be the amp turn on. might have to jump it over to it
I been wondering all day how get the new double din to fit right for install and it took forever to find this video. I will have this done tomorrow thanks for the vid bro.
Some receivers without a CD player are only 3-4 inches deep. For those, am I correct to assume no cutting would be needed like you would for a regular 7"deep unit? Thus your last part of the video where you cut the insides isn't an issue. Please advise.
I just picked up a 97 Silverado 3 door, it's got this same stereo with the cd player and like 6 speakers. I been wanting to do an double din. I'm digging that saw you have. Is that an air saw or electric?
If I can be honest it's a decent headunit for the money you spend but I have seen quite a few of them go bad. I wouldn't put it in my car and I try to sell my clients something else but at the end of the day if they happy I'm happy
Awesome video 👍could you do a video on the same 99 tahoe/suburban but do a factory amplifier bypass. Is it better to bypass the factory amp install an aftermarket amp for the front and rear speakers or keep the factory amp ? It seems like the sound would be cleaner if the old amp is removed from the system. I was just wondering have you done that before ?
Mybad for such a late response I get like 50 a day sometimes I can't keep up but the customer paid 200 for it I think its under 150 on Amazon i got the link in the description
I have a 97 z71, I want a double din navigation, backup camera radio. I dont care if its built in gps or carplay/android auto. What is your recommendation?
I have a suspicion that the wiring on THIS radio is more complex than what the basic rewiring video would show. This radio has TWO wiring harnesses attached to it. The Metra 70-1858 adapter harness recommended for this vehicle has only a SINGLE plug. I have just installed a similar Android based radio and am getting Zero output from the rear speakers. I suspect that somehow the SECOND wiring harness will need to be spliced into the radio's harness in addition to using the Metra adapter. I will do some experimentation tomorrow with the original head unit and see if plugging and unplugging that secondary harness causes the rear speakers to cut on and off. More to come...
Ok, so for anyone else who came here because they are confused because of the templet for the heater controls like I was...they go right back into the slots where they were from the factory. No drilling or extra cutting required. Idk why they even put it in the instructions for us to use this templet for relocation. Just ignore that step. I painted mine gray to match and it is installed.
I'm also struggling with relocating the climate controls, the radio wont fit with them both in there and I cant figure out how to make it fit. Did you figure it out?
I wish i saw this video before i ripped out my 2000 cage and replace it 2003-2006 GM cage. At that time i couldnt find that kit to attached my radio back.
Thank you for your video! I was nervous about breaking my dash but it was just because the clips were tight. Once I saw how the clips were set up I was able to remove it without worrying about breaking anything.
There you go, like a walk in the park😂🤣
I did come here looking for a wiring diagram but you sir gave me info about something I didn’t know existed. this was very helpful thank you for the links as well!
Can you post a link of the cutting tool that you used in the video please?

Cool video! Looks good. What's the screen size of that double din?
Did you have to use one of those pac module to turn on the factory amp.Or you just use the blue antenna wire.
should just hook up the blue wire if that doesnt work some trucks with the bose system has a harness that has a pink wire that may be the amp turn on. might have to jump it over to it
I been wondering all day how get the new double din to fit right for install and it took forever to find this video. I will have this done tomorrow thanks for the vid bro.

If I can be honest it's a decent headunit for the money you spend but I have seen quite a few of them go bad. I wouldn't put it in my car and I try to sell my clients something else but at the end of the day if they happy I'm happy

Hey man thanks. I owe you a beer. I came looking for that and was confused as hell about the climate controls.
I didn't even know that even existed as that looks way better than the tacky double din kit.
That looks sweet!
Can you do this with a 98 Chevy truck
yes the 98 and 99 chevy truck, suv, and gmc truck are all the same for those years
What about a 96 obs chevy c1500
Victor Holloway saaaaaaame
Needed this
Awesome video but completely skipped the part of relocating the climate controls. Can’t figure out how anywhere!
They don't need to be relocated they went in the exact same spot
I'm also struggling with relocating the climate controls, the radio wont fit with them both in there and I cant figure out how to make it fit. Did you figure it out?
I wish i saw this video before i ripped out my 2000 cage and replace it 2003-2006 GM cage. At that time i couldnt find that kit to attached my radio back.
Didn't mention that the rear speakers won't work unless you bypass the factory amp
Because I didn't have to bypass the amp. Everything works fine
He'll yeah thanks man one bass head to another
I can't figure out how to undo the radio cables and you skip that whole part.
Damn one more thing to do to my Tahoe lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Cuánto cuesta ??
I got no sound
Shoulda put a better deck in but good shit....
Lemme find out I can double din my 99 oh yessssss
