  • There are a lot of weird and wonderful things to see at Eurobike, but this might be one of the most surprising and interesting bikes of the whole show! ‪@Dangerholm‬ is known for his crazy light custom builds, and now he's turned that attention to detail (and love of raw carbon) to the eBike world with this, his custom Scott Lumen eRIDE 900 SL. With plenty of unique, custom parts throughout, he managed to get it down to an incredible 12.90kg! We had to find out how, so Steve spoke to the man himself about just what it takes to create the world's lightest EMTB.

      True it looks great, but the reason why manufacturers paint carbon fiber frames is because UV does a lot of damage over time if the frame is left exposed to the sun.

    Of course impressive and always a pleasure to see such builds. But I will never again build light weight bikes. In 2007 I had a Scott Spark (Fully) which was 8.35kg, pedals included. Right now I enjoy an Orbea Wild FS (23.5 kg fully equiped) and have hardly any parts to change etc. Compared with the 8.35kg Spark there is just nothing. No flat tires, no brake downs during riding. It just eats brake bads and discs like hell 😉

    They're going to a dead end again with this weight reduction, all very expensive carbon... on the already expensive e-bike, instead of solving the shifting like Pinion.
    I don't think there's any problem with a 23-25 kg bike. I feel that it's heavy when I put it on the carrier, and when I take it off.
    The €1,200 Ceramicspeed shifter or pulley will break it just like if it had a Deore...

    SO I really want to try an E-bike but I think the fact how the E-Mountain Bike market has somehow bestowed the label "Peasant Bikes" upon normal bicycles is a blatantly distasteful marketing ethos. During the era of Kings, Queens, and peasants, most people were peasants. Peasants generally don't think kindly of overly indulgent, pompous and disillusioned Monarchs. And when it came to the nitty gritty of of basic life tasks, everything was done for them.

    • @LastAphelion
      @LastAphelion ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good thing he doesn't have to give a sht about what anyone thinks. He's a rider not a bloody saleman. You know he's just a rider showing off his design and not trying to sell it to anyone?
      If you haven't caught up with the times, people do not want salesmen to accost them now days. You are more likely to keep someones attention at an expo or anywhere if you look just like them or however you look like when you use the product you enjoy. A suit puts most people at unease now, it stimulates the thought of "what snake oil is this guy trying to sell me?"

    • @pauljohnson2478
      @pauljohnson2478 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dangerholm's eccentricism is the reason there is a bike to look at in the first place. What kind of credibility do you want from him that he hasn't delivered? Do you just want him to dress differently? Why not just look at his creation and listen to him talk about it in detail, it's one of the coolest bikes ever. If a salesman has his skills they are wasted peddling products, they should be making extreme bikes to peddle around trails? Sales isn't anything to aspire to. Being able to build a sub 14kg full fledged eMTB is way more impressive.
