Dream bike, but I'd have to sell my guitars or get a presenter's job at GCN to own one. It would be interesting to see this £10-12k CFR pitted against Canyon's current lowest priced Aeroad (4-5k) and a 2nd hand but similar weight Aeroad from 5-6 years ago (1-2k). Not sure if Canyon would allow this (esp against a 2nd hand bike) but it would be great to see the results. Make it happen guys.
Bike is sick, love the color and appreciated the breakdown on why certain selections were made. I also just want to point out the obvious and say that I thoroughly appreciate the fact that Ollie is a car guy and manages to work that in to a lot of his segments. Also love the donut sticker on the laptop in the tech segments. Cool to see others with a similar set of interests.
These comments complaining are on most GCN videos. I don't believe people are making them in good faith, they must view the video just to give out. They constantly give out about sponsorship, advertisements and cost. They are just being contrarians and enjoying their gotcha moment. I, like most people, know what GCN are and aren't. Just watch it for what it is, entertainment, sometimes informative, that relies on sponsorship. Again like most people, I will never be able to purchase a pro-level bike like this, but if canyon want to give Ollie a freebie, then 👍
"naturally, I'm going to tell you all about it..." I would like to see someone try stop you 😂. It's a stunning bike, and your enthusiasm for this bike and really all bikes is infectious. Great work.
Congratulations on the new bike Ollie 🥳 I have also just bought a new bike. Canyon Aeroad CFR with Zipp 454 and SRAM Red. Have upgraded to SRAM Red rainbow cassette and chain 😁 I bought it in matt black with green decals that change color in the sun. Very happy with it so far. Will send it in to the bike vault when GCN finally manage to get it working 😆
Beautiful bike. I’d like to see a performance comparison video between this CFR and Ollie’s lighter Ultimate CFR. Climbing, TT times under same watts and such.
Although not my style (I'm a retro grouch) I must acknowledge that the paint on that Canyon is majestic. Also, you're pushing some big gears there Ollie, holy cow haha. Super nice to you 👍🔔
Giant has been doing the lever trick for the wheels for years . Good to leave the tool on the rear wheel to save the frame when you crash learned from experience .
Unfortunately, due to quality control and customer service problems with Canyon on a previous bike, I'm just not sure I could purchase another one from the company. That said, the Aeroad is visually my favorite bike on the market. It doesn't hurt that it was designed in part by Swiss Side as well. Thanks for sharing, Ollie.
Sick looking bike, it reminds me a bit of the newest Cervelo Soloist. Also, those chainring sizes, dang, throw a 12-23 cassette and we've circled back to 1990s gearing lol.

#askgcntech Ollie mentioned he puts 80ml of sealant in his 28mm tire. Most brands recommend half of that. Does more only add weight or also rolling resistance?
Ollie use the New Giant Propel bottle cages (different cage for downtube and seattube) and they make it even more aero and fill the gaps almost between downtube and bottle. I got these on my Aeroad CFR in the same color ;)
Video idea: Ollie’s bike stable. Let’s see all of Ollie’s bikes! Plus, it will make the sponsors happy and all the pedants in the comments really mad 😆😎
9:03 just wondered whether, if you remove the stem spacers, that wouldn't mean lowering the saddle height (as your foot doesn't reach as high up), not increasing it?
More than one sponsor means more than one bike. Also means he now has the trifecta, light weight orca, all round F9 or F7 I forget which, and aero aeroad. Not to mention I believe his personal pinarello F
That is an awesome bike. Id love to see a video to compare the speed to other bikes you rode. Also. The price difference youl paid to gain that extra speed. Bloody amazing bike and I enjoyed the tour:)
I considered getting this one but they're often out of stock and the colorways are wack (sorry Ollie) so I went with the Colnago V4Rs instead.. and what a machine it is! I couldn't be happier! 😎
Lovely looking bike, proud owner. Thanks for mentioning your saddle choice too, I've been contemplating trying something else as my own Selle Italia SLRs are starting to give me issues. Was thinking of something with a cut out. I have a Vitus Vitesse in similar colour and looks sublime in the sun.
Interesting that the chainrings are headed back up, I rode a 53/42 as a junior into Cat 2 as that what my lugged steel Trek came with. Also pushed a 11-18 rear block but I lived in a very flat area and was young and stupid. Amazed my knees are still attached.
I’m interested in hearing about the decision making process on the size. What size did the Canyon fitting tool on line put you in? I’m a “tweener” (between two sizes). Smaller size means less reach. Bigger size means less drop. Most people are going smaller these days, but the bigger frame was better for me with a shorter stem.
thats interesting, i've been trying out some geometry adjustments lately. i'm 6-7 centimeters shorter, run the same saddle height and just by the looks, i wouldve guessed you've got longer extremeties. wonder if i should go lower again.
Bike looks amazing, but I have always been told I need to remove the di2 battery when taking my bike on a plane and carry in hand luggage. You mentioned that you need to remove the crank and bottom bracket to replace the battery. How does this work if you want to fly with it as seems like a lot of effort?
Those canyon thru-axles remind me of dt swiss rws axles/qr's. Neat to see the adjustable bars for width too. I would probably fit on that bike, which is neat.
Can you share some information about your bike fitting and why you chose size L. What’s your inseam? And the measurements of the bike? I am 189cm tall with quite short legs, and I am struggling between M and L
Hi Ollie love the bike can you tell me from all your travel experiance about flying with bikes with di2 i always take my battery out and bring in hand luggage no problem . Im looking at getting the canyon but see the battery is in the frame and looks a pain to take out which is putting me off slightly what do you think ? .Can you travel with battery still in ?
I'm curious if the 160/160 rotors feel much different then a 160/140 mix. I know Shimano usually spec the staggered set up, and Sram almost always the matching set up. Curious if you notice any differences Ollie.
The hole between two downtube waterbottle bolt is for zip ties of internal cable routing (brake cable) I guess. The battery holder bolt is under the downtube.
Thanks for info. I am just considering to buy aeroad cfr with zipp 454 TL Hookless because I have already an ultimate slx9 di2 with 50mm arc 1100 about 1400 gramms I consider as a good climbweight I use the bike for travelling in winterseason. But I would like the aeroad cfr with rhe zipps for the North Denmark flats and smaller hills in the summerhalfyear. The 454 BSW only 1400 gr. 300 gr. lighter than the arc 1100 dicut 62 mm when you look at the canyonpage…..

enjoy it. late last year I bought the CFR Aeroad in Cosmos paint but have yet to ride it (waiting for nice weather!) I'm jealous you were able to get the cockpit in 120mm, L should be 110mm. 120mm is a 2XL size only, and Canyon won't make any changes nor sell them individually (oh how I've tried though, cause perfect world i'd be on a 130 with the new shorter top tube). I really love Canyon - been on one for 2 Aeroad generations, pre-CFR - but I really dislike how they made the CFR gen cockpit fully proprietary, and aren't helping riders get different fitted cockpits.
