Lovely! Dessay is truly great. I love the moment at 5:45 when she kicks off her second shoe, and has to step out of it's way so she doesn't get hit! hehehe.
The more I listen to Petibon and Dessay the more I like the soprano voice not going over the top for dramatic effect. The trills stay melodic, the vibrato done to beautiful and melodic effect. There are other young French singers who follow this choice. The Duet des Fleurs of Sabine Devieilhe and Marianne Crebassa is superb.

Brava... such a great singing actress! I love almost all her opera roles.
I have been following Dessay for many years (up to her retirement), I can say this is not her best work. But certainly better that her contemporaries at the period.
Dear god what has opera become? Let’s look past the interpretation and production, but her vibrato… and she’s screaming the notes. I mourn for our future.
It’s also worth noting that she had two vocal surgeries (one in 2002 and the other in 2004). Before those surgeries she had an incredible coloratura voice. I agree in the sense that the surgeries ruined her voice. It happens far too often with singers: they get vocal surgery and it ruins their voice. But yeah, she’s been retired for 11 years. You should definitely try and find recordings of her before her surgeries. She had a fantastic voice.
Her bad technique led to the vocal nodules. You can sound good and have terrible technique. Your chords cannot sustain incorrect placement and tension in the neck, which is what she has. If trained correctly, these problems would not happen. Happens with a lot of modern singers today. Mourn we must…

Simply stunning. The best. I shall watch this forever.
I just love Natalie Dessay! Her vocals are amazing!

Brava.
WOW... so different to Maria Callas who was more specific and clear with every word, and soundes stronger but detailed, this is still a nice version.
😊🎉😊🎉

Who's Alfredo?
Violetta’s lover in La Traviata !
Alfredo is sung by Matthew Polenzani in this performance

This stage löoks copied from a Salzburg performance by Netrebko+Villazon.😢
It’s not a copy, it is the same production which went to the Met after its run in Salzburg
@@Beadle_Bamford . Thanks for adding.

Dessay retired in 2013, are you informed?
There’s always one…
I watched this opera on the met app and it was horrible... She can't sing an entire show she always gets tired.

Thank god The Met got rid of that goddamned clock.
Pénible...
