  • www.tomrichey.net In his second term, President Thomas Jefferson struggled to maintain U.S. neutrality while Europe was at war. The result was the Embargo Act of 1807. Mr. Richey explains the circumstances surrounding the Embargo Act in the first part of his series on The Trials of the Jeffersonians.

Thanks a bunch! This was one of the first videos I recorded and watching these old ones kind of makes me cringe, but I'm glad it's still useful to people!

In my view, Jefferson's concept of America represent American values in their purest form. Studying Jefferson is the best thing an American can do. Glad I've been able to help!
I plan to film a video before long contrasting the Jeffersonian and Hamiltonian conceptions of the Constitution and the role of the federal government.

Jefferson desperately wanted us to join France in the war while he was vice president. Funny that he would want to remain neutral in his second term when he bashed Adams for trying to remain neutral while he was vice president.

You're welcome. This video was very useful to me because it helped me understand my history with more insight. I'm studying the history of all presidents of the United States since George Washington, their achievements, their failures, and their idiosyncrasies. Right now, I'm studying Thomas Jefferson's concept of America.

War is expensive. So I could understand. And it wasn't too long ago we were in an English civil war with them when we were English.

Thanks a bunch for sharing this information; I'll do an extensive research on him. I think Jefferson was one of the most interesting presidents inasmuch as he accomplished a lot as the third President of the United States.
Awesome, please let me know when you upload it. I'm not completely au fait with the Jeffersonian and Hamiltonian conceptions of the Constitution, hence would be very happy to watch and comment on it and get my Facebook friends to check it out too.
