Cricky You bloody ripper that turned out so epic, just had Maleny woodturing expo 4th to 6th, SSoooo many R.Mallie and B mallie burls I was in heaven. Keep the dream alive son Aussie Aussie Aussie GDAY MATE from brisbane Australia
Oi oi oi! Bonza bit of timber hey mate. Some guy on FB here commented it looked a bit like his dogs dangly bits, if ya get my meaning. Not sure how I took that!? But still a bit of Aussie on me lathe went well. Cheers 🍻 mate!
I'm confused. First you cut a mortice. Then you are "flattening the base" which looks like you are flattening or removing a mortice. Then you cut a concave area to put your coin in.
The mortice didn’t work, too thin walls. So a sacrificial wood chuck epoxied into what is left of the mortice. Then the chuck, mortice and the bottom of the piece sanded flat leaving behind a hollow for the coin. 🪙
I liked it more when it was undisturbed..😳
Ah, the undisturbed peace was real, wasn't it?
I’ll bet you had your sharpening shoes on that day…
Haha sure did, was a tad tough.
