    Lots of end grain tearout and tool marks. Carbide is good for roughing, but traditional gouges and scrapers will give you a better product before sanding

      Thanks for the feedback John! I currently don’t have a way to sharpen conventional tools so I don’t have them yet! I so want to try them though

      Hi Kevin you need to take a look at the way you are using the bandsaw !! You are heading the right way for an accident 😮

    Nice, for some reason to me has a Japanese feel to it, good for a couple of servings of Miso soup.

      That’s the best finish I’ve found yet; but unfortunately because I used the sanding sealer it’s not food grade

    nice bowl. that bandsaw cutting scared me for 2 reasons...i cut with the flat side down since the material is safer against the table...and the blade guard needs lowered for safety.

      It’s funny you mention that ! So I shot this video, then TH-camr “turn a wood bowl” comes out with 7 mistakes on the bandsaw the following day. I love his content, said shoot, he’s right I just broke two very important rules.
      Then during edit, contemplated not even putting the beginning footage in but decided for it to be.
      That being said , in the next month I’m going to be making a video creating a circle cutting jig for the bandsaw which will eliminate all the danger .
      Totally agree after watching his video about the guide being too high
      Thanks for the input and know that I will be altering my methods moving forward.
      Also thanks for watching. It’s people like you that watch and engage, that keep me making content.

    Finish is nice. Only thing I’m confused on was why you were using a #3 hollower on an open bowl like that. Just curious.

      @kevindcreates  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That’s a great question and I’m assuming you are talking about the goose neck carbide cutter… because I’m New to the hobby I only have 5 turning tools, two of which are negative rake, this one has a very wide flat steel forearm, so it doesn’t try to twist out of my hand. I generally gravitate to this one for hollowing out anything ! Thanks for asking ! Do you have a channel too? I’d love to check it out 😀

      @@kevindcreates definitely understand the flat bottom part. Check out easy wood tools. All their carbides are squared so they have a flat bottom but yes the hollowers have a wider flat bottom. I’m a demonstrator for easy wood tools.
