Woodturning - Stunning Burl to Stunning Vase

- Welcome to my mesmerising woodturning video, where I take you on a journey to witness the creation of a stunning hybrid vase. Prepare to be captivated as I combine the vibrant allure of turquoise blue epoxy resin with the natural beauty of Australian mallee burl.
To achieve a high gloss finish that enhances both the resin's brilliance and showcases every detail of the burl, I meticulously apply multiple layers of coating resin. This process not only adds durability but also creates an irresistible shine that will leave you in awe.
This hybrid vase is more than just a decorative item - it's an expression of creativity and craftsmanship that will elevate any space. Whether displayed as a standalone centrepiece or used to showcase your favorite flowers or foliage, it will undoubtedly become a focal point in any room.

Is anyone else’s audio desynced by a few seconds?
Yes! I'm glad that it's not just me having that problem.
Damn it 😅 it was all good until I had to make one last cut… 🤦♂️
@@DavidsWoodturning You’re all good man, I was just more confused that no one else in the comments mentioned it. I love your content btw, it’s always so satisfying seeing the pieces slowly take shape and come to life
@@likeporcelainanimations Thank you so much 😀

Gorgeous turquoise vase and excellent turning - although I did wince a bit when your arm got so close to that blade trimming down at the start!! 😱👍

Hi David...beautiful piece...what is the black material you used to make the mold
Thanks 👍
Как всегда сделано красиво и с душою

Amazing video. We would like to show this video on our channel with your permission. We will add your link and your name will also be mentioned in the video. Let us know what you think
Thanks for including the filtering mask this time. May I assume you also use sealing goggles?
How do you like to manage clothing protection? I mostly just use work clothes, and take showers after studio time.
Perhaps this is all covered in earlier videos. I've not gone too far back yet.
May i ask please... what is the black material you used as a wrap for the resin pour? Youre art is amazing. I love your channel and greatly admire your skill.
Beautiful! Is this one 4 sale? If so, what's the price?
Thanks David. Very nice piece. I have to rely on artists such as yourself to give me ideas. Sometimes I can actually copy your work well enough to do something about 1/10th as nice!
I have a question -watching your initial work with the carbide tool I think I saw that you came straight in to the centerline of the piece. I turn with carbide sometimes but I had a problem with epoxy pieces. The cutter grabbed and really chewed up the piece. I have started using the cutter at a downward angle of maybe 10 degrees. I would appreciate your comment on this issue. Is it likely that I was just being too aggressive with my cuts when the piece was not round?
Also - finishing resin? Same stuff as the main pour or a different type?
Thanks again - I learned a lot from your video. Now, off to your store!
very nice what type of product you use to wrap the wood for resin pour....Larry
That’s a wonderful piece!
Out of interest, what did you wrap around the burr’s before you did the pour - I usually use HPDE sheets cut to size and joined with a glue gun but that looked so much simpler! (Or is it just corrugated sheet?)
Hi David, can I ask what Mica powder you use. I’ve been trawling the usual suspects looking for premium mica powder and frankly it’s overwhelming the amount out there and various prices, thanks.
I use all sorts, not very loyal in this sense. Some from amazing, lets resin, black diamond pigments, black-forest wood co etc
Sir,
Where do you get your custom coin emblems from if you don’t mind me asking?
Check out Von Hanke on Etsy
The pearlescent resin is beautiful, but so was the intricate burl texture that is now hidden inside the opaque resin 😢
I've watched a lot of people do work with resin & wood and I have to ask one thing of all of them... Are they aware that there are other colors besides blue?
And they say God doesn't exist!
Hello
It’s beautiful but god damn what a waste of resin 😂
Well, preview pic is lying, sound is fucked up, but it's still a good video
What a comment, Thank you so much 😀 🤣
There's, literally, a thousand other channels doing this, Meh, I watch another channel...
It’s beautiful but….wasted the natural formations on the inside. I’m my opinion.
Very.well.done.job.BRAVO.

Thank you 🙂
