I have never heard of this ride before. It looks like a really fun five-day ride. It is now on my ever-growing 'list'. Nice to have an opportunity for a bit of a swim as well! Diss was all very entertaining!!!

Thanks. It's Cycling UK's relatively recent latest long-distance route. It's really a combination of existing cycle trails, dis used railway paths, and Sustrans National Cycle Routes.

I rode the whole route in February and it was bone dry. The Common was bumpy and hard going (on a gravel bike) but the ford at Diss was barely rim-deep so easily rideable. I didn't much like the road out of Norwich either; it was the only vaguely busy road on the whole route (apart perhaps for the last couple of miles into Norwich). I'd strongly recommend the route - quiet, varied, easy. The guide book is excellent too.

Thanks, Kieth. Yes, the guidebook is excellent. I think March was a wet month!!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed seeing my locals routes and home village along your journey, as usual thank you Andrew. Ps yet another boring Gareth fact sorry 😂 I started as an apprentice 1998 when we fully restored Norwich train station, took 3 years and I loved every minute, great to see her looking so beautiful in your opening shots.

You are a talented man. I love the station building. Thanks for your work in maintaining Norwich's architecture.

It’s a dreadful road, I used to commute on it. Then thanks to Komoot etc can now avoid it. The driving on it is dreadful, I still can’t believe it’s on this route there’s better ways out of Norwich. Glad to see you getting out of breath, always embarrassed me. Also good to see a prolonged shot of my parents house on this.

Can anyone please advise on a nicer alternative route south of the city through to the first offroad section?

I did the route last week and started to go into the ford before I realised it was deep. Looking on route I’d down loaded into Komoot, I discovered the footbridge. Chatting to a local, apparently the river is deep most of the year. Highly recommend the footbridge. Out of interest I did the route on a totally inappropriate bike Ribble Audax with 25mm tyres!

Good effort! The foot bridge is not obvious, is it! Thanks for commenting

@@divum I did Norwich- kings Lynn on day 1. I set out from Kings Lynn in the pouring rain, the track coming out of Wells did it for me. So headed to fakenham then back to Norwich on the road. However I’ve done some of the route in reverse, might complete it later in the year. Enjoy your videos.

I've heard of the saying "taking an early bath" but that was ridiculous, I thought you were going to disappear under water😂😂😂😂

Thanks for the insight into RW, what is the make of the mudguards on your MTB ? I need some new ones for my MTB for winter. Cheers.

      Hi Julian,
The mudguards are by "SKS" and advertised as VeloFlexx Bike Clip-on Mudguard. Make sure you get the 39ers - to fit the larger mtb wheel. ATB

May I ask which mtb tyres you are using and would they be suitable for Rebellion/Pedars/Marriott Way combo? Will hopefully be a bit dryer in June!

      Hi Paul,
My mtb has Maxxis Ikon 3C EXO TR 29er Folding Tyres. They came as standard on the bike from Canyon. The tyres are great off-road, but honestly, they are overkill for road use (far too much friction). The routes you mention are rideable by gravel bikes and, in my opinion, don't require chunky mtb tyres, especially in the summer.

    • @pauljay5308
      @pauljay5308 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@divum I have successfully used the Maxxis Pace 26 x 1.95 tyres on my cycle speedway bike. In the absence of a gravel bike I am going to order some 29 x 2.10 versions for a two day Rebellion/Peddars/Mariott Way loop. Will hopefully reduce the drag, I'm not as fit as you!

My preferred choice would be: Leave Norwich on the Newmarket road (cycle lane), exit at Eaton village. Then Intwood Road all the way to "T" junction - R turn - Rectory road (300m) - L Turn Scotts Hill (merging intop E Carleston Road all the way to "T" junction at Mulbarton, R Turn Norwich Road to Bracon Ash, L Turn Flordon Road to Flordon.
