Damn, I started to think he abandoned his channel. Good to see they are still going!
This channel inspired me to do my own world bike trip (in the future) and creating unforgettable videos. Seeing his enginuity once again getting this bike ready, reminded me of my big plans. I won't just put bags on a bike and go. I will supposedly construct my very own custom bike, which will be a combination of a recumbent trike and a pickup truck, yes you read right. Sitting in front in some kind of capsule that provides protection from the weather, and having a big bed in the back - literally a bed, combination of sleeping area and storage. The whole construction being made of aluminum, I want to be sleeping with a little bit of protection from animals and the like, which you don't have at all in a tent. I know, the whole construction will be ridiculously heavy, but on such a trip, you are not needing to get anywhere fast. Such a construction would come with unusual benefits, like a huge plain in the back, where you could spread out serious solar chargers, and power is always a concern on such an insane trip. Having watched his world trip, I got the serious wanderlust.

Great editing. Wonderful hacks on the gear. My spouse and I have had a hand-built Assenmacher tandem since 1981. Still have it. Still ride it. We've toured all over in the US (of course), parts of Canada, a few islands in the Caribbean, NZ, more islands in the South Pacific and in Ireland. We're in our 70's now and, having the means, we have changed out the camping routine for hard roof stays in posh places where we can get a shower, get warm and a table cloth at dinner. But, still do tours from time to time. Be well.

Neither of us owned a tandem, but I went out and found an old touring tandem, a Burley Duet from the 90's. I didn't realize you are the same Ed that I watched unicycling almost half a year ago (and yes, you made an impression! It was a video where you bumped into a chinese gentleman cycling with his daughter in a trailer, in that same video, I would never forget ... the police officers told you there were wolves up in the mountain, and you went, "nah! don't worry about it" or something like that). Much braver than us for certain! Now, not "only" have you got a tandem bike, you "also" figured out a way to mount the gopro ONTO the handlebar to achieve hands-free recording (this has been my most recent project/question). We are in the US and own the Bike Friday quick-fold tandem (we love the 20" wheels), haven't tried folding it but love the option. We want to record footage of us cycling on it (with a gopro, which we have yet to invest in). Your video gives me a good idea of how hands-free recording might be achieved. Now, I just have to figure out a way to "quite easily" take the selfie-stick on and off the tandem easily. We bike commute and at any point, might want to fold up the bike to go into stores (not the most graceful thing to do but it's do-able, if we wanted to go into the stores bad enough). For the 2 things mentioned ( one, you got the tandem now! 2nd, you taught me the gopro hands-free recording on the tandem handlebar) ... SUBSCRIBED!!! boy! It's not easy to get a Customer these days is it? lol ... Ed was working diligently to teach us multiple things in this video here. Would you please just subscribe alreay ! jeeezzzee ... hahahhah.. Question for you, have you ever considered a trailer? I asked because we are a trailers household, we own a few of them and have always prefer them over putting weight on the bikes. Strangely, I'd always felt less weight whenever I'm pulling a trailer. Curious as to your thoughts.

I was a member of the 1st of the 39th battalion in 1977 when more than a dozen re-enacted that journey 35 years after. I had learned to plan for events from my parents because of a missionary trip took in 1967 to Brazil from California. Later I decided to ride the Arizona Challenge a 325 mile event done in one day. I tried it 3 times and finished it 2 times. The journeys are important but you need to do good along the way. I see you and your family efforts and am happy for you.

22:50 wise words my friend... Just went on a trip to northern Quebec to kayak in a narrow river with whales after many years of wanting to do so. I accomplished my goal and had the experience of a lifetime. Life is meant to be an adventure and I love what youre doing. Keep up the great work!

Good to see you guys again.
I did many tandem tours in the past, it is so much fun.
Try a 30 degrees offset in the pedals (stoker 30 degrees ahead of the captain), that eliminates the dead point in the cranks and reduces the maximum torque on the Rohloff. Made our tandem more efficient.
You only need to watch the pedals when leaning into turns.

Ah it’s been a bit of a hassle with restrictions this year. Luckily we had to quarantine at home not at hotel. Hope one day you will tour across the UK. I truly enjoyed it!

Monday I did a hike and on the way home I drove down a road called The Cattle Track between Port Augusta and Port Pirie in South OZ. I said to my friend with me a fella named Ed Pratt rode a 36 inch uni cycle on this road as he passed though Australia on his world trip. Glad to see you back on TH-cam I will be enjoying you next adventure Thanks Ed and Aishola regards ..
