We've been cooking our Longanisa in the air fryer... it turns out with a perfect skin cripsyness. Don't even have to thaw it out first. I must admit that when I married my Filipina wife back in 1974 I was not well prepared for the culinary adventure I was getting myself into. Growing up in the Midwest I was basically a steak and potato kind of eater. I had to learn to eat food that I never dreamed existed. Fortunately, as King has discovered, much of Filipino food is very delicious.

@@27carloyu There are too many good ones to just pick one, but I will say one of my favorites that I don't have often enough is kare kare. No excuse, since I can cook a pretty good pot of it myself, but often times life just gets in the way.

Everytime you eat Filipino food you're always nailing it. You're not butchering the names of the food and the names of the restaurants it came from. Most of all you're eating and tackling the food as if you're a real Filipino. Sauce over rice, right condiment mixes and pairings, eating with only a spoon and sometimes using your hands. We enjoy watching you enjoying our food. God Bless you! 🥰

For the gravy that we use for lechon kawali, there's a really popular Filipino brand of gravy called "Mang Tomas" which literally goes on almost anything fried. It's sweet and flavorful like you should really get this and use it as a sauce in Lechon Kawali, Fried Chicken, etc.

    • @jjhaya
      @jjhaya 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I'm Filipino but personally, not a fan of Mang Tomas, although I was curious about how it tasted like because it looked good in the commercials I guess it's an acquired taste because I'm used to Jollibee Gravy, I'll check out the spicy one though to see if it will change my mind 😅.

Filipino food is so underrated just because its looks simple to make and it is cheap. But it tastes as good as expensive and popular dishes. What makes it good i think is that its so simple that every household mastered it through the years cooking it. Also the sawsawan or sauce liek mix of vinegar, soy sauce and calamansi is one of the simplest and also the best.

@@markbayato4222 Kind of an unfair assessment if you take the culture into consideration.
While objectively unhealthy, you have to keep in mind that the Philippines is a developing nation where most of the rural citizens work as manual laborers; they can range from farmers (little to no machinery involved), to butchers (no machines, just knives and a high hook), to pier and construction workers. These kinds of work can't be done on just a 2,500 calorie diet; no, they need twice or up to thrice that amount to match the energy needs of the manual laborer.
Also take into consideration that the Philippines is hot and humid - your body needs much more energy to cool down than to heat up, so in which case, I think it's just fair that food there can be a bit rich.
A lot of Traditional Filipino dishes also developed during Spanish Occupation, so it's not odd to see dishes prepared using scraps and pieces normally discarded by other styles like French or Italian. Pig ear, chicken feet, chicken neck - early Filipinos devised ways to make tasty food out of these. The sisig in the video is traditionally made with pig ear, flavored with pig brain.

I can suggest a simple recipe for the spag if you'd like, Ms. Nguyen 😅 you can do it in an hour! I always get asked to bring spag for gatherings so I might have achieved the standard level.
My Yummy Spaghetti (not the typically sweet sweet type but sweet & sour)
      500g spaghetti noodles
      Cooking oil
      Salt
750g spaghetti sauce "italian" (del monte preferably)
      Potable water
1 can of condensed milk (i only use 250-350ml of the can)
2/3 cup of banana sweet ketchup (or the spicy type if you want)
6 pcs of big hotdogs (or franks?) cut into small circles
1/4 kg ground beef (you can use pork too)
      Salt, pepper, basil
1 whole medium red onion minced
      4 cloves garlic minced
      1 block of cheese
      Optional:
      Oregano powder
1 pc med carrot (minced very tiny) - optional to add some vegs
1 can of spaghetti sauce w/ meatballs
If there is no italian spag sauce in your area, don't worry! You can use 2 big cans of tomato sauce and put 4 tbsp basil powder in it and oregano
      1. Boil 2 L of water then put 2 tbsp of oil and 1 tsp of salt in your big pot where you'll boil your noodles (or follow the pack's instruction). I wait 10-15 mins, depending on the volume of the noodles. Always try 1 small strand to check if cooked aldente. Once good, transfer the noodle in another big empty pot or casserole to remove the water.
      2. In another deep pot, I fry (using medium heat) the garlic and then onion (sautee). When they look and smell good (brown but not burned), add your ground meat and the salt, pepper, and basil powder (and oregano).
      3. When the meat is cooked, I add the banana ketchup and make sure to stir. Slowly add your spaghetti sauces (no need to season)/alternative: tomato sauce (and 4-5 tbsp basil; and another part of banana ketchup). Put potable water half of the spag container and add the water in the sauce as well. Then add the condensed milk (250-300ml). Also, the very very tiny minced carrots (optional).
      4. Simmer it for 20-25 mins. But within the first 5 minutes add your sliced hotdogs. You have to occasionally stir everything to avoid the meat being burnt undrneath.
      5. Once done, you can pour the sauce on the noodles...making sure every area has sauce. Or on diff plates, you serve the noodle first then place the amt of desired sauce. Then top them off with shredded cheese!
      🙌💜👌Hope this helps

damn bro. you already an honorary Filipino with the way you eat rice. that's how we eat it!
rice is like our ever present side dish that just like goes with almost every food we have. we use it as a balancer to almost all our food. most of our food have strong flavors and the rice is used to lessen the punch of the flavor and balance the taste.
when some foreigners dislike our dish, that's almost always because they don't mix it with rice. and some of our dishes need to be mixed before being eaten.
you're a natural eating Filipino food. yes! sauces are supposed to be mixed in with rice. you take a bit of the meat or whatever dish it is and mix it with rice.

Since you've tried these Filipino food I wanna suggest you try some of the more bizarre side of our cuisine as well! They're bizarre but not terrible or bad tasting at all, in fact some of them are crazy addictive, for example
Sinigang. It's a soup that's served warm and it's specialty is being sour and it warms you up or cools you down depending on the weather. They're paired with rice mostly.
Isaw. There's many kinds of it but usually It's a bbq chicken intestine or bbq chicken organ that's either brushed or covered with bbq sauce. It's awesome paired with rice and it's addictive. You should try it when you do Filipino food again!

I think the vinegar with the longanisa is just to cut the grease. You know to prevent you from getting a heart attack lol or it can cut the sweetness of the longanisa. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this mukbang. And I’m so glad to find someone from Bergen County In Jersey doing mukbang videos! This means I can actually visit the restaurants you recommend.

Try the Filipino Breakfast there's a lot of that "Silog" the one with pork belly sometimes they have "Mang Tomas Bottled " Liver Gravy", Longganisa just Dip it to the Vinegar sometimes I pour the vinegar to rice if "only the garlic rice too salty" but it's rare to see in some restaurant YOU SHOULD TRY FILIPINO FOOD WITH YOUR MOM! that will be A "W"
