      Mitch, this recording sounds fantastic. What converters did you use to track the inital recording please? I seem to recall you have Burl converters in your home studio. Was this tracked using the Burl?

    Wow smashing that limiter. 6dB of gain reduction is pretty crazy. Its overdone but still holds together quite well. Kudos for level matching it really well so we can hear it against the dry path!

      @Muse Axe Backing Tracks Floating point is a digital domain format post conversion anyway?

    • @millenniummastering
      @millenniummastering 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Muse Axe Backing Tracks There is no converter that exists that operates in flloating point as by very definition the 0dB clip threshold is set. Post conversion any 24 bit fixed point file can be converted to float for processing as all that is happening, to explain it simply is the clipping threshold is raised. 32 bit float file is basically a 24 bit file with an extra 70dB of headroom above 0dB to avoid clipping.

    So this unit is for large analog console master bus?Where are DACs?Use my own audio interface for send and return with this? Why don't i just buy a limiter and use the ADCs on the interface?

    i am quite new to this wolrd , still trying to figure out some tecnical stuff. so this converts audio sources like guitar, volcals to digital, can it do the opposite? converting digital to analog from the sound card and feed it to the studio monitor?

      Hi, C-Ra - great question! This is only an analog to digital converter, not a digital to analog converter. If you are looking for an all in one converter that goes in both directions, you are looking for an audio interface:
      www.sweetwater.com/shop/studio-recording/audio-interfaces/
      This is the best place to start if you are new to recording. If you are running a professional level studio it does sometimes make sense to have separate converters, in which case you would get a separate DAC to go along with this.
      Thanks!

    This would have been great with Dante connectivity, since it was inspired by the RMP-D8. You would need somthing like the Audinate AVIO Dante 2x2 AES3/EBU Adapter to make this complete. S/PDIF feels less helpful.

    If using a radar studio all in one
    With converters I like how would I use this?

    A system integration video would be dope. I own x2 5059's and 1 MBP. How could this be useful? Sounds like the same limiter in the MBP

    Great review as always.. but is there a gate of some sort on Mitch's voice? It's a little aggressive and I feel it's cutting off some of his words.

    This unit is really unnecessary especially at 4k.

      Right. Seems like their products are running together. Many of them doing just about the same thing. With 1 thing that’s different. Unnecessary and costs too damn much.

      Considering that units like the dangerous convert 2 is around 3 grand, and the portico II MBP roughly 4k. I’d say it kind of is worth it, your pretty much getting both units in in one but maybe minus a few features. All in all, I’d say it’s a deal for me, but maybe a deal breaker for some
