Thank you for reminding me of when I immediately upgraded to Catalina and then lost combability with Sampletank 3 so I had to spend to upgrade to Sampletank 4 in order to be able to play the music tracks I made and also make new music. Expensive mistake - even though that problem would come later anyways with a forced update. I will certainly wait with updating again until I know that the combability is there.

I think these videos would benefit from using multiple styles of music. I never work with the kind of material Mitch uses as an example so I always just skip the second half.

@@AppAxis I use a DBX 266XS (from Sweetwater) for my vocal chain,and I have a vintage Alesis 3630 (the model Daft Punk uses) I bought over 20 years ago for my instruments. @@zanem9022 You have a problem with reading comprehension. It's obvious if the DBX has a noise gate that it isn't high end. The question was why don't high end compressors have noise gates?.

How does this compare to simply having 2 shelford channels ? besides price. I'm just wondering if this sounds exactly like 2 shelfords or if it has an updated sound ?

Can someone tell me how you can accurately set the gain control, and any other controls that are not controlled with the link button? Won't there be slightly different levels since it's not stepped?

Hi Bob, thanks for reaching out on this. The 5254 does indeed have stepped rotary controls, even on the gain control. It's a breeze to channel match.
