well it might just be me and the one fella there but a classic high gloss black is hard to beat . if you have lots of chrome it will make it even better .
Silver would be the obvious choice but then it would be just another Gullwing and given its not an original car I would avoid that. I love the colour you painted the Audi but I would go for some sort of light champagne colour.
If you’ve already gone this far towards perfection then you may as well finish it with the correct shade of silver and make it a tribute to our dear Stirling Moss. 🙏
Unks it would be a dark candy green you are doing a fabulous job my home town is in Essex UK but I am in Perth, Australia, at the moment for the winter 👍
All vehicles (4) in my garage and driveway are red, my first choice. Being a Mercedes, Black or Silver could be a secondary agreeable compromise. Amazing workmanship!
My daughter used to own a bmw 3 series sport, it was pale metallic green with matching window tint and matching leather upholstery. Very very tasteful..
Hey, I just found your channel a few days ago and i just finished every episodes today, I really love how you are presenting the project, by showing us every steps of the process. And if the gullwing was mine, I would probably paint it orange with the chromes a bit darker than normal to give it some contrast (grill and bumper) Keep up with the good work !
Well, well, well, my first thought's are to be totally out there, one of one hand built everything retro, so I'm with a mustard/yellow with dark grey leather seats and carpet, white steering wheel brushed chrome and polished dashboard or pearlescent white with the same interior... how many more weeks do we think we have until she's finished??? Are you keeping the old SLK switch gear aircon all that stuff or will you be trying to replicate the old style interior???
Cheers Andy, in house paint job or do you have someone lined up, and what time scale are you setting aside for paint work, and who's car paint are you using? if I may ask... @@andirt4
Problem is that the 300SL will look stupid in every weird color. We all know what the classics were like, and if you paint it something else than beige, silver, red or black, it will look silly.
It remains being a replica and shouldn‘t try looking like a 100% copy, hence any other color other than on an original 300SL would be OK. However my favourite color is Range Rover ‚Aintree Green Metallic‘.
Silver is not good, because it's 08/15 like for BMW 3 or other wanker's choice. Red would be fine, even a smart green metallic or a dark shiny colour like the Volvo 9 series in your shop has.
Pearl white
That Avocado green that they used on the Pagoda top models
I would go old Mercedes white - bone white I think it is called. Good luck, from Stavanger Norway.
We have a local here in Utah who has a darker grey color that looks fantastic

Some good suggestions. Replicating the old style dash but keeping the aircon hidden behind the dash. Not sure on the timeframe as want to get it right
