I have just watched the complete playlist and have enjoyed it so much. Having built my own kit car (Shelsley t2) I can appreciate the issues you have been through . The final finish is beautiful, well done.
You deserve so many more subs than you have, I’m sticking around to watch this channel grow, which is just a matter of time. Well done guys, the car is a credit to your skills and dedication. Have a great week yourselves!
Just came from the overview video. It is insane that you guys managed to build this in only 50 weeks. The result is a credit to you, and is probably superior to the real thing. Now I've got to go back and watch the whole build to see how you did things like glass, chrome and other specific bits.
Watched a video from Ultrace by CB Media. He thought your car was an original Gullwing. Testimony to all the hrad work you you have put into this project.
Well done mate, beautiful build. Me and the missus are bring the van to Rollhard so look forward to a catch up and get a good look around this amazing car 👍
Fun fact. There were no RHD Gullwing. 2 RHD Roadster were built at the factory for 2 very special customers. The dash/facia structure is a one piece alloy unit and Mercedes cast RHD for these 2 cars. The pedal box is much smaller on the right side but that's how it is.
Really beautiful car! I‘m still missing a Mercedes star at the trunk lid. Not 5 inches and as high as the original one, but maybe a little bit lower and 3 inches size? It would round up your fantastic restomod! 👍
Was the DVLA plain sailing with V5C regarding rebody/suspension/colour, or did you need an inspection for modified car? And just out of curiosity, did you do the numberplate change before any V5C changes? Looking awesome.
@@davidf680 it's something of a minefield, the DVLA. I guess the original chassis, due to being the vario roof, is pretty much in tact. Although they did chop the very back bars off in the boot. If the chassis considered "unmodified" they should get away with the 8 points easy. Because engine, gearbox, axles, and steering still original. Just like to know if that easy or not. I guess it must have been if they've amended the V5C and also transferred that numberplate.
@@davidf680 so the r170 is a uni body. And what I can find about it from 2001 is "2001: A 3.2-liter V6 and a six-speed manual transmission arrived in 2000 as a 2001 model. Concurrently the unibody was reinforced and they thickened the sheet metal of the ellipsoid firewall. Impact absorbers were added to side members to support the wheels in an offset crash. Inner panels of the doors were reshaped and reinforced. A link between the rear side body and main structure was added to disperse rear impacts.".
This to me is nicer than an original. You must be so proud. Congratulations.
Thank you

@@keithianlocke I thought they cut both the front and rear chassis rails which is a definite 'no no' in the eyes of DVLA !!!!!!!
@@davidf680 actually you are right. That was for the rad and front panel fitting weren't it.
