The NZ Tourism company should be employing you guys. You have taken locals and international people to some of our hot spots. I love watching your blogs-keep up the fantastic work and thank you for what you are contributing to NZ
That is a very narrow and ignorant opinion. We don't need foreign short term visitors telling us how to suck eggs. You are not "special" because you visit from Europe. People die on this route.
Ultimate Hikes own the huts next to the doc huts. It is guided and you carry change of clothes and other personal items needed. They cook dinner, breakfast and make your lunch for next day. There are rooms with multiple beds or pay a lot more for en-suite room. We’re in our 60’s and love tramping so having the option of having our food cooked for us - the ultimate luxury. The helicopter is only used for bringing in supplies and change of staff!
Glen and Mado, thank you both for showing us the natural beauty of NZ! You two should be given citizenship based on the incredible content you two create! 👏😁 thanks to you, I now have a long to do list. 🤣
Wow! The Routeburn has changed a lot! I last did it in the early 1980s and there were smaller timber huts. Even the private huts were smaller. There were no neat boarded pathways and no handrails like in your video!
Thank you for everything you guys must do behind the scenes to make us feel like we're with you on these adventures. One thing, ignore the comments telling you to stop saying "sheeps". It's a classic NZ prank. "Sheeps" is 100% correct and if you incorrectly talk about a group of "sheep" everybody will laugh at you. Kiwis can have a mean sense of humour.
I’ve done the Routeburn Track twice, first time when I was only 9 years old, but it was only the first part on a day trip. Again in my 20s. It’s certainly very very beautiful. The waters cold, ice melt! Even as a New Zealander it never ceases to amaze me how beautiful our country is. This track as well as the Able Tasman National Park Track, has some of the most scenery in the world. New Zealand is unique in the fact that we have no wild animals or poisonous creatures to worry about, the only thing that is dangerous is that the weather m, it can change very quickly, even in the summer months, it pays to always be prepared. The hire of a personal locator beacon for some of the more secluded tracks is a must. The weather catches tourists and even locals off guard every year unfortunately. It pays to always carry a little more food and extra protective clothing. I feel very blessed to call this country home and it really is such a buzz to see people come here and get such a great amount of pleasure in seeing what we have to offer. Glad you loved it! Have fun ❤
So appreciate the labour put into building those tracks, steps,, swing bridges!! What a gorgeous video of our gorgeous country. Absolutely breathtaking around every corner!! Thank you!! 🙌 ⛰ 🙌 🗻 😮 ❤
This is probably my most favourite video of our country by you guys! Tēnā kōrua, thank you both for sharing your journey with us and taking us along :) May your journey continue to be safe and full of great experiences.
Glen and Mado, thank you so much for your amazing videos! I grew up in NZ and have never done most of what you have. I now plan to hike Routeburn and the Kepler in 2025. It helps so much to actually see these walks. Love your personalities and humour and how you bounce off each other. As person who follows quite a few vlogs, you two are simply the best.
Your adventures bring me so much joy. Your videos are the best way to experience the real NZ. I first traveled to NZ in 1967; my last visit was1996. After enjoying all your videos I'm determined to make one last visit. I so admire that you demonstrate what it is to be true citizens of the world. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures!
Where do You come from Dorris? We would certainly love to Have You Back, I would have been 15 when u last came In 96,New Zealand has changed a bit but the old Bones are Still there✌️✌️✌️🇳🇿
Currently living in Astoria Oregon, on the Columbia River, town established in 1811. So far my second favorite place. Hope to have 3 months in NZ in the spring of 2025. @@shanefraser7764
Amazing walk.. I have to agree it is one of the most beautiful tracks in the world. I'm so lucky to live in New Zealand. It is one or the most beautiful country the world. Beautiful sceneries everywhere. I've done Routeburn track a couple of months ago in Dec 2023. It would even more beautiful if you continued until the Mackenzie Hut which is just beside Mackenzie Lake, it's just as beautiful. I will do Routeburn track again, and do the Conical Hill track at the Harris Saddle as I didn't do it last time.. The views are stunning. Thanks for sharing
Lovely video of a country full of nature . It has beauty that people are looking for and everything is within a short distance . It is easy to travel NZ . Just get into your car and keep driving to different sights . Talk about Kodak country !
In 1971-72 I spent a season as a guide on the Routeburn track. You video shows just how much the rack has changed over the years. Thank you so much for that.
Congrats on ticking off another great walk. Routebourne is probably the most scenic. The guided walks just mean you get fed and housed in beds so you carry a day pack as everything else is taken care of… hot showers and comfortable lounges to hang out in after a days trekking. I did the Milford with my family as a teenager and my Grandad paid for the luxury version. I’ve completed three more doing it the hard way..
It’s so lovely to see you guys enjoying the Routeburn track. My husband and I had a guiding company guiding on this track among others a few years back. It’s so good to see it again. Thank you 😊
Some great video , I did this a few years ago in the pouring rain over the Harris saddle and it was just as spectacular with waterfalls everywhere. I have done all the great walks and the routeburn is my favorite. Good effort
Uz guys made really good shows, I like the big track walks, that uz two done, on your journeys, through New Zealand AOTEAROA🇳🇿, GOOD WATCHING U GUYS👍💞🎉
Brilliant video guys. You had the best weather. Did the Routeburn and Greenstone back in October 2001 but had some bad weather. Marvellous walk up to staying in Flats hut. Increasing cloud and cold to Harris Saddle and Lake Mackenzie. Heavy rain over to Lake Howden. Then a couple of great days returning on the Greenstone Track.
The trick to steep climbs is to breathe really deep right into your belly and hold for two to three counts then all the way out. Your muscles and organs will love you for it. Thank you I'm a first time viewer and look forward to watching all your posts.
Former student (1978 to 1983) from Southland Boys' High School in Invercargill, New Zealand here. Our Fifth Form high school camp (in 1980) was based across the lake from Glenorchy, and we had an overnight camp after a tramp up to the lake then back down to the valley camping area. We really did not know how lucky we were
For when it's too noisy to sleep, you should carry a pack of foam ear plugs. They're really small and soft and you just roll them thin, then insert them in your ears where they expand and block out most sound. Most hardware and general stores should have them, and they only cost a few bucks for a pack.👍
Just to let you know at the start of the track there is sapers pass it was named that after the royal nz engineers helped rebuild some of the track and bridges after a flood washed a lot of it away
Did this track in 1969 - we did the guided walk It was done over 3 days and were lucky to have fine weather. Well done going up the Conical Hill - don't think I would have made that☺
Gee u guys are sure keeping fit hopping around our humble beautiful countryside. Keplar track etc is a definite fav of ours. Love it all. Good for you. You need to head North if North Island as well.
Did the Routeburn several years ago. Didn't see anything from the Harris Saddle to Lake Mackenzie hut as cloud brought visibility down to about 10 meters. Really wish I got that view.
Great reviews guys. Don't knock the guided walks. Most people do them for guaranteed accomodation. Plus the bar. Bookings on the great walks are getting very hard to secure. We still walk the entire route, if not more. In fact we ran much of it past where you are puffing your lungs out. If you'd been guided, you would have visited the natural infinity pool beside the Routeburne falls. Most people don't know that the Ultimate Hikes company build the DOC huts on Routeburne in order to secure their concession for the lodge. Credit where credit is due. The helicopter brings in supplies for both everyone and rescues the unwell.
Your videos are wonderful! I just wonder what time of the year each video is. New Zealand is notorious for having four seasons in a day so I wonder what specific months would be best for these kinds of activities.
Awesome video guys but I need to point out that you need a permit to use a drone on conservation land, especially since there were helicopters operating in the area!!!
A flock of sheep is not sheep’s !!! Seriously there is no ‘s. Sheep is both plural and singular. Oh yeah - sorry forgot Mado is German. Another great video 👍

People die on this route.
Yes, you are right. So long as some Kiwis can get paid to promote the UK which is a much harder job. Otherwise bugger off.

Its absolutely amazing the work that is put into them. it makes our experience so much better :)
My son was a hiking guide on the Routeburn for Ultimate Journeys for 3 seasons ....he loved it !!!
Thanks for showing parts of NZ that I’ll never see in person. Great commentary of your journey, love following your travels throughout NZ.
Handy hint ...big hike like that.... Take a packet of dates along... Great little energy capsules....
Amazing adventure! 21:18 that view is unreal!
Well done guys it really feels like we are coming along for the adventure
This is probably my most favourite video of our country by you guys! Tēnā kōrua, thank you both for sharing your journey with us and taking us along :) May your journey continue to be safe and full of great experiences.
That’s a lot of acres of sheep’s! Fantastic video.
My son used to be a DOC Ranger on the Routeburn. The stories he can tell!!

My favorite couple.i love what you guys are doing. can't believe how professional your videos are so interesting and informative they are❤
Absolutely beautiful, it looks so peaceful at the top I love that feeling, God bless
It definitely was! An amazing place just to sit down and wind down 😎
Wow, the scenery. So pleased you are enjoying the paradise of New Zealand. Well done Glen and Maddo.

New Zealand has so many beautiful places to visit
04:21 you could go on a guided canyoning trip down there! I highly recommend it!

Looking down on the Holyford track and across into sir Edmund Hillary’s training mountains. A truely fantastic walk.

Thank you for taking me along on your trek, the scenery and views are food for my dreams. Cheers
Great hike from the Routeburn Great Walk.

Thank you for all the effort you put into this video. Loved going along on this journey. Beautiful views.
Seeing the waterhole at the end. Look at that, I've got to go in, I know those sentiments.
Well done G & M, what a great adventure, but I am so exhausted after all that walking we did !!
That was the most enjoyable video of the Routeburn track I've seen. Obviously the weather played it's part but for me your positivity was infectious!
great going guys..............well done

Sweet as Bro.
Well done Routeburn, making up for the Keppler grotty rain!! 😊
What a wonderful sound: life is good. Thank you for sharing. Regards from South Africa 🇿🇦.
You two inspire me. Absolutely beautiful.

Agreed! I discovered these recently, and they're great (or the ones that feel like blu-tak)! The ones that mould into your ear are definitely the best
Well done guys! You both look knackered!
Well done, that was amazing, the scenery was epic
Sauna and massage would look great after that effort!!👏👏🌞
Seeing you guys more than the view. 😊
Awesome footage of a climb I plan to do soon. You both are brilliant! Thank you for exploring NZ
Awesome you’ll love it! ❤️
Definitely do the other side - Key Summit is stunning! Great video - thank you! ❤
Awesome video, so happy for you both that you had good weather to make it a memorable trip🙂
You guys did so well, really awesome scenery and feel bit bummed that you've seen more if my country then me. Great job both of you.
Awesome vlog again Glen & Mado, thanks for sharing.
WOW ! View from the Top of that climb 😍
"Best view in NZ" till the next vlog ! :)

Just to let you know at the start of the track there is sapers pass it was named that after the royal nz engineers helped rebuild some of the track and bridges after a flood washed a lot of it away
Love your frantic vibe and enthusiasm!!!
Not frantic by me but definitely enthusiastic.
Did this track in 1969 - we did the guided walk It was done over 3 days and were lucky to have fine weather. Well done going up the Conical Hill - don't think I would have made that☺

LESSSSGOOOOO!!!
Honestly think foreigners see more of our country than most kiwis do
They save for special holidays, we can’t afford it living here
in New Zealand 26 thousand acres in Australia 5,851,000 acres
Yes and the same number of sheep?

There will be shrinkage after that swim

I used to sleep up on conical hill on a good night, the Keas to keep me company.
I’d say it was magic! ❤️
you two seem to always throw in some outstanding drone photography/video but we never see you launch it or even carry it with you..
❤❤❤
Great comentry and filming . Do you get that floating feeling when you take off your pack at the top.
If we do a day trip are we allowed to use the hut facilities to make some lunch/ use toilet etc?
Yes of course just not allowed use the gas unfortunately
Thanks so much for sharing and replying 🙏
New Zealands mountains can be covered in snow even in summer.
Awesome video guys but I need to point out that you need a permit to use a drone on conservation land, especially since there were helicopters operating in the area!!!
Thanks buddy 🙂 we get this type of drone footage from a 3rd party usually.
One sheep, several sheep, its one of those funny singular/plural words😊😊
Flock of sheep.
“ sheeps “ 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Haha give it over 😂😂
Funny. Within the first minute I thought , I wonder how many comments about sheeps
Another one
Doc fly the material in to build huts
"Whats that over there?", pointing to Tutoko and the Darrans. "Abel Tasman". "Really?"
Did u share the bar of winning chocolate with everyone? Hehe
Imagine: A zip line from the top, across the lake. Must be magical.
Like in Dubai...
A flock of sheep is not sheep’s !!! Seriously there is no ‘s. Sheep is both plural and singular.
Oh yeah - sorry forgot Mado is German.
Another great video 👍
One sheep, two sheep, 100 sheep.
Can't believe at the destruction and spoilation of what was a wilderness trek in the1980's. Just a Sunday morning stroll now .
New Zealand is more thsn beautiful. It is clean, safe and friendly. Plus the Maori culture is unique 😊😊
