I climbed for a month back in '89 (Cook,Tasman,Aspiring) and it only rained one day which happen while we were traveling on the bus to Aspiring. I guess you can say we lucked out on the weather. lol
What to say…. This is astonishing, incredible, the ne plus ultra of NZ mountaineering expose. The more you climb the more amazed you can be at what you guys just put up right there. Congratulations 🎉
I was in many of these places in the 70's and I'm just astonished at the standards now being achieved. Now far too old and with a severe autoimmune condition, anything at this scale is beyond my reach now, but your last words are still right - it is just a matter of defining the challenge.
I hope you had more than one beer. i climbed in Mt Cook in the mid 80s . Only dreamed of this level of skill -well done. Thank you for showing me what I missed out on 🙂
wow what an amazing film, meant to just take a look but every minute was so captivating. Fantastic film by you Nick and amazing effort by Alastair and Hamish.
Well executed film capturing an epic adventure. Had a crack at Aspiring a couple months ago, hard to fathom climbing this peak after Cook, several other peaks and a lazy ride in between. Kudos to the lads. Cheers for Aspiring some new ideas in both film and climbs when I cross the ditch next.
How often can I say I've stood where nobody has ever stood before? There must be so many brand-new-views these legends get to experience, thanks for sharing them!
Congratulation for this HUGE achievment!! Alastair, it was a pleasure to meet up with you in Oz few years ago, so blessed to follow your adventure from Europe. I rememberer reading your tale of Aoraki traverse on your blog and was so inspired years ago. this enchainment is definitively inspiring. Blessed to reach myself Aoraki and Titiitea during summer 2016 thanks to your inspiration! Keep on inspiring us! And you're always welcome in France :)
This is awesome, I read about this in a Hut in the Hopkins valley.... it was in a magazine of sorts.... I drew massive inspiration from it!!! So amazed to see it in picture!!! Well done Gents
Congratulations, bloody epic, strenuous, indulging, competant, and, fulfilling. Thanks for the mindset, Walter Bonatti would be dead chuffed, as would many others, you Peaked at the right time............Robin Smith.......
Well done, I read about this feat. Then I read about guy mickinnon who did it solo, and he has my favourite quote of all time.im just an amateur, by that I mean, I just get off the couch and go and do it.
What a great watch!! Congrats Nick on an outstanding capture of a really significant achievement (I've been enjoying your channel for a while and this is next-level stuff mate!). Alastair and Hamish, I love how you capture the grinding fatigue of what you did - and the way that exposure becomes harder to tolerate - I only know this from four day missions, not what you guys did!
What's the big aluminium bar that can be seen on on your packs quite often, something to build an anchor with? I've never seen that in the European Alps before
just done Crib Goch for 4th scramble, in the wind and rain at 40mph, I get what they are saying about the mental energy it required and how it can leave you having so much exposure, it was new to me, very powerful though I can see how these guys would find it som amazing to do something like this.
What, and your snarky comment is helping the housing crisis? ...why not create a more efficient recycling processing system? Why not construct a dyson sphere to alleviate global energy supply issues? Better yet; maybe you should be inspired by the amazing achievement documented here, and take a hike ; )
@@SanctionNormac ok clown we get your just a self centred person because your hike is a complete wast of time,so why dont you Crete a more efficient recycling processing system your self and stop us having to pay more tax,s for a helicopter to come rescue you when you are stuck on some mountain some where because personally i think they should leave you there so go take a hike your self fool!.

Super inspiring great film
Way to go! Inspirational indeed.
Awesome, well done lads!
What's the big aluminium bar that can be seen on on your packs quite often, something to build an anchor with? I've never seen that in the European Alps before
Awesome
Wow congrats, very inspiring!!
Epic.
You must be extraordinarily fit! How many calories were you burning a day?
My feat isn't climbing mountains it's saving the same amount of cash as the height of every mountain on earth but in many ways it was just as hard!
Incredible 🤜 Does anyone know how they climbed up from the Tasman Gl. to Plateau Hut? Haast Ridge? That was horrible even back in the 80s!
Freshfield glacier into the top of Haast ridge, since we were coming from Malte Brun, it was fine actually!

well done, I also remember grib goch in inclement welsh winter weather and it was quite a day.
superpower humans.... super power emotions
Hi Nick, How can I contact you about permission and cost of using some seconds of this in a documentary?
you get permits to take drone vids ? Or you flying free over restricted and forbidden parks, reserves ?
Ariel footage for this is all stock footage purchased

15:29 wheres the rope!? 😮
That's crazy. 30 Min didnt do it justice.
Inspiring 👌
Incredible challenge, below average documentation. It's always a shame when that happens, but not everyone is a filmmaker.

As we say in Mexico, "Chignón!"

Try something constructive theres a housing shortage and you walking around all over the place isnt helping

of course it does by staying in huts and tent you create some relief on the housing crisis you should try it yourself too
Pretty Inspiring asa bored wellingtonian!
not a mountain climber but would the weather be better in jan-feb-march looked like a bloody good mission
Better weather perhaps but the glaciers would be too broken this late in the season, too many crevasses.
