Thank you I am a very old man and i have enjoyed watching you two going to places that were once familiar to me when I was physically able.
Hopefully it brings back special memories! ♥️

You two are crazy, but crazy good in the best possible way!
You have done so much to show we native couch potatoes the many magnificent parts of our country we will never see otherwise.
If NZ tourism has an award for 'outstanding foreign contributution to NZ promotion overseas' then you should be making your final departure with it in your luggage when you go.
Thank you for all the enthusiasm and joy you have brought to these shores, and the wonderful warm fuzzies you will leave behind.
👏👏👏💕
haha, awesome. I love it! we definitely are; sometimes you need to be :) your words mean the world to us. were showing the true New Zealand and that's our main objective :)
@@GlenAndMado so very sorry about how expensive petrol and food is nowadays. it was never always this bad
They sure have been excellent visitors to NZ - so respectful and interested in this quiet and far-away country.
I'm a 69-year-old Kiwi and am love your perspective on our country. Keep up the fantastic updates, thank you both.
Very kind John! Thanks for the support and keeping us making content
The plants you were seeing are commonly called vegetable sheep (because they look like sheep in the distance) and belong to a mountain daisy group - probably Haastia or Raoulia species.

For the benefit of others contemplating hikes like this, this is really a situation where a Personal Locator Beacon would be well advised. If you take a fall and get injured, hours from any help, it allows you to signal your location to search and rescue services. They are not very expensive and could save your life. I carry one for sailing singlehanded.
Not the place to twist an ankle or break a leg.
I was thinking the same thing. You can hire PLBs too I think, if it's not something you'd need often.
That drone shot of Glen at the summit was fantastic!!
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@GlenAndMado So sad you two have left NZ. We are worse off because of that. :(
@@danielayers Awh don’t be like that Danial, very emotional here. Can’t even enjoy Vanuatu as it’s been a disaster and just keep talking about how good New Zealand was 😂
@@GlenAndMado And to think you missed out on -6 degrees C in Chch a few days ago, and I had to scrape ice off my car in Taupō (-2 deg C). Who would want to be on a pacific island instead of that?!?! 😀
It's fantastic on a good, calm day like you had, but when you get rain, it can be quite different. It's very exposed up there and people can be prone to hypothermia. Two people have died in separate incidents in recent years, sadly. That was in winter with snow. And there's no water until you get to the hut. Those rock-hopping parts for a few kilometres are fairly taxing if you aren't used to it. But it's one of the most popular hikes around so the hut is full most nights for much of the year. You need to pre-book if you want to spend the night and they usually have a hut warden to check your booking.
My heart was in my mouth when you were on that slippery slope. Beautiful video.
Aha quite an experience it was, wasn’t expecting it to be so rocky!
I accidentally met and had lunch with Glen here at Port Vila Harbour, at one table, and didn't know he was a TH-camr, thank Glen, and nice meeting you...I am now your new subscriber from Vanuatu
Thanks my good friend was a pleasure to meet you guys! ❤️
I did the track up Pinchgut and then along the ridge to Angelus in ‘96 in November. We had heavy snow along the ridge so it was hard going. Took us about four and a half hours with a group of 15 year olds (school trip) and we made good use of snow axes at points. We were carrying all our gear and food for 5 days, so big packs. We got snowed in at the Lake Angelus hut for three days, then walked out down the gorge to the head of Lake Rotoiti and back around to St Arnaud. On the second day at the hut two young guys showed up for breakfast. They had started from St. Arnaud (not driven to the car park at the base of Pinchgut as we did) about 4am and were heading around to do the entire circuit we were doing in one day! This was not unheard of back in the day. It was an epic experience.
Omg that sounds insane! Sounds like some special memories that you created and it sounds so extreme 😂🙌 good on yous! Seems challenging when it’s snowing there as a few said.
Well done it must be harder walking and filming as usually you use your arms for balance. You have taken me places I didn't know existed and I have done some tramping mainly down in the South of the island. Age has caught up with me and my mobility now soI have really enjoyed your journey. Good luck on your future ventures.
Great video of a fantastic hike, such a brilliant spot when there's no wind and cloud. Definately check the weather for that one, and you guys had such a wonderful day. I see you found the mountain sheep plant. That's a much easier walk with a lighter day pack, can be challenging with full overnight gear with those rock hopping sections. You definately need some emergency shelter and comms though just in case.
Your NZ adventure has been amazing to follow, so nice to see people showcasing and enjoying our country.
"I don't know if you guys actually noted that I am an introvert and Glen is an extrovert" 😁Haha, yeah, we noted it Mado 😄
🫣🤣🤣
Glen sounds just like Father Ted. I love that accent. He would have me laughing even when he would read a dictionary.
😂😂😂😂 that’s hilarious man haha but sure if you think so! 😅
NZ will miss you both ❤❤
Be carefully hiking the mountain both of you,we love to watch your video
Your videos are very entertaining....
Another great adventure guys!! The soundtrack choices were inspired...loved it!
I tried my best 😂
Thank you, can feel yr love&empathy ...
Great video. Theres often been talk why the cafe and fish and chip shop there is often closed. It's mostly just holiday home around the lake. I suggest if you ever get another chance to check out the blue lakes walk. There is also a couple of other walks that go between the two lakes and ones that goes through part of rainbow station and into the next valley over. Unfortunately it's an area the experiences some pretty hursh winter storms with large rock slides and isn't part of the great walks. But personally I think that's what makes more special as there often alot less people around
Thank you for sharing your experience and stories. Sure is worth watching. "Life in NZ". Regards from South Africa 🇿🇦.
Bravo G & M, Now you know what it looks like on the moon ! Excellent hike.
Glad you enjoyed it my good friend 🙂🙌
Cool stuff guys. Awesome presentation of the Nelson Lakes area.
What a trek guys, looks very dangerous.
That lake looked so cold.
Well done again team you don't lack courage that's for sure😮
Thanks for the special words! Haha the water was very refreshing!
That was a crazy 360 view!!
Just stunning. What so many of us Kiwis are missing!! Kudos to you both! Brave souls!! Be safe on your future travels in the Philippines and Japan!! 🤗 💜💫💜💫
I definitely agree on that! so much beauty within the country! what a magical place isolated away from the world Lesley!
Hope you got to see the lights festival in the islands lastnite. Even here in Hawke's Bay the southern lights could be seen, was incredible. Safe travels you guy's. 👏🏼👍🌌🌌
Thanks Ian you legend! Unfortunately we never got to see them 🫣
☀️

Awesome hike guys, looked really "sketchy" in parts.
Well done
Amazon etc now not bothering stocking 🇳🇿 Guide books, just have to watch Glen & Mado's adventures ! :)
I did this route when I was 11 or 12! It was cold and snowing at times. It was pretty scary.
Damn that sounds abit more on the extreme side, weather was good for us 🙂
This was EPIC!!! Those rocks!!
Yeah madness 😅😂
Hello guys been watching all of your trip amazing thanks for all the info. We are picking up or caravan in 5 weeks and going to do a 10 year trip around our incredible country thanks for your enthusiasm 😊😊😊
That’s insane! Big respect to you guys! You’re doing it right! Love it ❤️
Those warning digns are so good, had no idea they existed. The decision time sign especially
there so cool! Definitely make you think twice about continuing 😂
Yes, a few people have died on that ridge in winter conditions.
Amazing yet again, thanks guys
Thanks for tuning in! ♥️
That route is non-trivial in any weather condition. But if you are careful its ok. Long walk for a return if you are loaded up. But hey carry what you have to be safe. Thanks guys.
Beautiful videos love to see the coverage. Just when going into the hut please take off your Boots
So now that you two have started your training and seem to really like the hikes... Maybe next time you come back to NZ you could document the Te Araroa Trail... The 3000km track from the north to the south... Only a three or four month hike... And well well worth every bit of pain and fortitude to experience the wonder and beauty of nature and to also understand yourself and what you are capable of... Much respect...
Sounds like an amazing idea! A lot of dedication and commitment for such a hike! I think I’ll have no muscle left at the end of it though that’s my main concern 😂 all them calories damn!
I think thoughs big mussels can make you hit the wall sooner ,you are both fit i thought Mado has some good endurance, I think taking some good snaks with you can realy help. You do have to be careful in nz the weather can change and get realy cold in no time. This was an amazing adventure thanks for taking us along. God bless you both stay safe.
Thanks Peter it was awesome! Yup we had some snacks, I never go without a can of tuna though as I need that tuna 😂 also I never really do so much endurance or hiking or running so definitely makes these hikes a little harder! We do the odd hike or so every week but probably not enough but still we got through it fine 😂
I would cry seeing how far that hut ws still 😅
omg it felt so far way! you go over a hill thinking you were close then Bam! you have to go over another one haha.
Amazing guys...thanks for the experience.
Thanks so much for your special comment! 🙏 it was a delightful experience
Not a easy hike but its, amazing place glade you had a good day for it
it was absolutely beautiful, we got very lucky as the weather can change so fast up there.
As an introvert... Glenn would give me anxiety too 😂❤️🇳🇿
Hahah I’m extrovert and mado is introvert😂
LOL, Glen sure has a lot of energy😄
I’ve never heard silence like this before ??
Hahaha don’t take it so serious! It’s just a rear thing to experience! As there’s not even a sound of birds which would be the case in a first etc..
nIC N BEAUTYFULL PLACE
i like hearing your accent say Maddow i always think you are calling her madam i love that :)
Thats so funny! Love it haha
Huge eels come right up to the shoreline at that jetty at St Arnauds. Thinking they have got used to humans feeding them.
Now do this is winter, we walked the opposite way, and yes it was a bit sketchy at times.
Hope you got to see the Aurora this weekend?
36:32 😂😂😂
Has to be done buddy 😂

Well you certainly got a lot of vairiety in the terrain and vegatation. Rather you than me though. My muscles hurt just watching.
Should get yourself up there and give it a go! 😂
Worried about you not really prepared for this trip
youtube.com/@RBCVLOG?si=nolR0UZjkzDEz-mo
Don't seem able to learn, even after a few events that could have turned nasty.
It’s not such a bad hike! Definitely was okay 👌
@@GlenAndMado,we hear that regularly, while they’re getting rescued.
I loved the fact you enjoyed exploring places of nature out in the middle of nowhere, but if you do that in other countries where no-one is around, a personal locator beacon should be mandatory. It could literally save your lives.
Yeah it was amazing! Loved every moment ❤️ thanks for the information though! Would be good but leaving the country soon so couldn’t really be buying extra things lol
🔔★LIKE-SUBCRIBE-SHARE★🔔
you got that right! hahah
scarryyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Haha can’t be that bad now!
You guys have seen more of NZ than most New Zealanders.
I'm a NZer and I've seen more of Australia than most Australians.
I guess that's how it goes.
Not necessarily at all.
@@banjopete Not necessarily, but when you visit a place, you explore it like you'll never be back, and when you live somewhere, there's always tomorrow.
The New Zealand back country should never be taken lightly there may be no dangerous animals other than the two legged ones the weather can change very rapidly in the South Island the topography can be very steep and challenging it’s easy to get lost you can have a lot of fun but DONT take it lightly
Drama much done that route its not hard at all.Used to hunt up there.
Hahah yeah wasn’t bad at all went well!
