Awesome footage guys! The 'green fluff' on the trees is lichen; it only thrives in clean air and is a sign of good air quality. Even though it was windy, you were filling your lungs with the good stuff!
Iris Burn - named for my mother, whose family were early Fiordland settlers, explorers, climbers. Never been to it so excted to visit vicariously through you guys. Thank you.
Awesome video. A little trick for carrying eggs. Break them into a cylinder container (water bottle), fill any extra space with water. Pour the water out and then the eggs will pour out one at a time. Then fill the excess with water and they won't break.
The best thing in this episode is that you guys always stay positive even in the extreme weather condition! Walking Kepler track has came to the top list of my next New Zealnd travel. Thank you for amazing video! Huge respect from Japan👏🇯🇵
Excellent and enjoyable watch, and congratulations on pushing through, despite the weather! The Kea parrots certainly took a shine to you! As for the chopper, I think it may have been on a waste collection flight, probably to that alpine toilet with the big tanks, which are what the chopper would be picking up and replacing with an empty one. That yellow water is most likely coloured that way from the tannins released by decaying plant matter in the streams - sort of a natural tea.
I don't know why you two are so exhausted at the end, from where Im sitting it only took you 1 hour 20 minutes. pretty easy 😁😁😁 Fantastic effort and as a kiwi I thank you for promoting our country so wonderfully.... Nga mihi guys...
The scenery in this video is simply magical, people should feel privileged to be able to access such an amazing piece of the world , I am sure the kepler track will be etched in your memory for life, especially the wild day 2 where every step could be your last, i think mother nature actually lives there , Top effort Mado and Glen -Fantastic have watched it twice , cheers
Great video. A little concerned about Glen's lack of layers in the cold stuff. And there were periods when it would have been great to have hiking poles. But glad you made it and took us along for the journey. As a great NZer once said, you knocked the bastard off! :)
Hahah cold due to being so wet! That was probably the factor. We basically only did 2 great walks so no use buying all the expensive gear as we wouldn’t need it again when we leave Nz. Appreciate it mark means a lot we did our best 😂
Loved that place Te Anau au used too work there at cleggs shearing, was actually my first job ever when I was 16 yeara old for 4 years. Before i moved too Invercaegill now im 40👍and will visit the south Island again sometime
Thank you for taking us on your hike. I walked the beginning of that track a few years ago. It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Enjoy your pie!
Those bags are huge. I hope Glen carried all his own food!😊 Much better to have more food, clothes etc than you need, just in case of any emergencies. I wish the weather had been nicer right through though, for your first time!
Yeah it was a long video! Probably will be our longest too. Wasn’t sure if I would make it shorter or not. Let’s see what the rest of the people think 🤔
Another wonderful adventure for you both! Glen, you have boundless positivity and you are so encouraging to Mado! I wish I could give you multiple thumbs up!! 👍👍👍
Amazing vedio and a beautiful part of the country. Thankyou for taking us with you. It was windy and raining but your enthusiasm and positive attitudes made us watch to the end
Better than watching a movie. Great film work and drone shots (more drone views please!). Thank you both. May your journeys continue to be as good as the Kepler Track.
Proud of you guys it's awesome to see you's take on this challenge and beat it and it's been an amazing adventure you's have taken us on. Thanks love it.👍♥️
Hi Guys, excellent video of the unforgettable Kepler track! I stumbled onto this clip and thought i'd better check it out as the weather looked shocking, nearly as bad as when we did it earlier this year! Well, believe it or not and to my upmost surprise the weather was identical because we feature in your video!! At the 24.00-minute mark our group is on the left sitting down in Luxmore hut and then at 45:11 you feature my back at Iris burn! I didn't personally meet you or talk to you but you may have interacted with some of our group but what an experience on day two hey! Man! that was wild across the top. I have now subscribed and appreciate the longer videos, keep them rolling and happy travelling. Cheers, Alan, Janet and Tully.
Great footage of your hike..the good (like how positive Glen is motivating Mado on), the bad (weather) and the ugly (sandflies attack 😂). Thanks for sharing reality and challenges of the long hike in bad weather
WOW!!! what a great adventure you two really embraced the hike no matter what conditions you faced WELL DONE & CONGRATS what an awesome vlog i really appreciate both of you and NZ really loves you! glad you enjoyed your experience amazing❤🎉
Watching it was like doing the trek with you. You really are both very stoic - both to do the trek but also to document it for us as you went! Big congratulations.
That was great you two. Te Anau is my happy place I go there once a year for a week but have never walked the Kepler. So good to follow you along. Loving the way your showcasing our country to the world 👌
Fantastic vlog guys, needed the longer version. Weather may not have been "blue sky perfect" but the stormy conditions bring their own beauty to the party. What an experience ! Have to return one day, when the barometer is a little bit more favourable 🌤 :) Well done Glen, Mado & your friend Nikki 🐦
Best mossy and sandfly spray is ""Bushmans"In a green can from Australia. Nothing else works apart from a mix of equal amounts of Johnsons baby oil and Dettol!! Well done on doing the track too, great effort and amazing views!!
@@GlenAndMado I have old perfume it really works with the sand flies. I cannot find my original comment. Suffice to say at next op shop check out scent section🫶🏼 Cicadas are our Summer insects cacophony summer sounds in kiwi land You made the trek so enjoyable LEGENDS 🫶🏼
Thanks for showing me the track. I have lived my whole life here and never thought to do it. Might have to start getting in shape and think about it in a year or 2. The Kea are beautiful birds, absolute mischief in winged form, but amazing to just watch them interact with the world, and each other. My brother used to work up in the Mountains, removing wild pine trees on DoC land. I remember he told me one day a Kea managed to unzip his bag (was within eyesight but he didn't notice), Pulled his lunchbox out and opened it. Stole his whole lunch. Being up in the mountains cant really pop down to the bakery, was a very hungry afternoon.
It's never too late! Get into momentum prepare yourself for the next couple of months and do next year's one! nothing is getting in your way. We believe in you ❤️ we heard a few horror stories with the kea also but I mean if you leave your bag down prepare for that haha
I fell asleep watching this video. Now I'm watching it before work and I'm still not done! I'm loving it so much, I wish I could throw a sickie and stay home to finish it. Alas, I'll be back after work. Can't wait. Thank God Glen didn't do an arse wiping display with those leaves 😂😂 NZ tourism needs to pay you for this exceptional content. Great job. I love it. Are you coming to Australia anytime soon?
So, that was the warm up track... Next time you visit NZ I will guide you on the Te Araroa, if you would like,.. The 3000km route stretching from Cape Reinga in the north of New Zealand to Bluff in the south... Takes about 4 months... Would suggest a month of training with a backpack if you are keen 👍💪
Hello Glen and Mado: That wind sure looked very dangerous..could of been blown away 😳. Thanks for another awesome video and very nerv - biten . Regards South Africa 🇿🇦.
Bravo Mado and Glen (and awesome Nicky). Just watched the whole thing. I remember about 30 years ago, some friends and I did some hiking around Mount Taranaki (Egmont). We were so under prepared. Layers of clothing. Heavy steel framed backpacks full of tinned food lol. But we did it and it was a great feeling of accomplishment.
Awesome footage guys! The 'green fluff' on the trees is lichen; it only thrives in clean air and is a sign of good air quality. Even though it was windy, you were filling your lungs with the good stuff!
You are worth your weight in gold the way you enthuse about our country. Thank you 👏👏👏

An inspiring watch! Glen you are so good at encouraging and lifting Mado’s spirits it’s inspiring.
Awesome video. A little trick for carrying eggs. Break them into a cylinder container (water bottle), fill any extra space with water. Pour the water out and then the eggs will pour out one at a time. Then fill the excess with water and they won't break.
That’s absolute magic thanks for tip 🙌
Your best video yet, and movie length too! Really enjoyed that, thank you guys.
Damn yeah was hard to fit it all into one video. Was hesitating to split the video in two.
The best thing in this episode is that you guys always stay positive even in the extreme weather condition! Walking Kepler track has came to the top list of my next New Zealnd travel. Thank you for amazing video! Huge respect from Japan👏🇯🇵
This is a documentary in its self. The both of you would make hiking in the worst weather worth it.
Excellent and enjoyable watch, and congratulations on pushing through, despite the weather! The Kea parrots certainly took a shine to you! Yeah your totally right in relation to the choppers we were at the huts when the chopper was coming that morning and the ranger was explaining 🙂
I don't know why you two are so exhausted at the end, from where Im sitting it only took you 1 hour 20 minutes. pretty easy 😁😁😁
