I am from Tripura (India) and in my state There is no availability of fresh sharden but canned is available and I am love it I am eating it since my childhood and it's a good source of calcium and protein
I made this curry today and it was absolutely delicious, my husband and I LOVED it. I didn’t have fenugreek seeds on hand so instead I substituted it with yellow mustard seeds and the taste was still awesome. Thank you for the great recipe and video. ❤️
Recently, I have been on a quest to find interesting ways to prepare canned sardines and this is one of the better recipes that I have found. Thank you.
I made this last night and it was soooo good. I literally was giving my husband the eyes for scooping big chunks of it. It was Baum, I added old bay seasoning to it and creole seasoning to it and it amplified the taste even more. Excellent receipe!
For heart health we absolutely need the oily fish. I'm so grateful for this recipe. Its so delicious and so easy. I make it not as much because its good for me but because it's SO delicious. U r a smart cook.
I made this exactly as you did and it was perfect. So good. I want to make it again and again. It also fits into a healthy lifestyle. We served ours with lentil salad and steamed rice. Thank you!
Thank you for this one.♥ I struggled just to get down one can of sardines in one meal. Today I got down 3 from this recepie. I need to get better in the kitchen too. The cans are smaller here. About 80 g. fish per can. 😅
Impressive. I have all these canned sardines. Tried eating from one the other day, but ended up almost throwing-up. This is an excellent way to cook it to be yummy. Many thanks AnitaCooks. As a former professional cook myself, this is a simple, yet effective way to make those canned sardines palatable. I did substitute a few ingredients, yet it turned out excellent! Cheers!
@@AnitaCooks I will admit, added a wee bit of corn syrup to sweeten it up a bit. (To counter the bitter metallic taste of the canned sardines) Also melted some cheese on it.
A masterpiece of cooking with too many master strokes of art of cooking. A treat to watch your cooking. A master chef can convert ordinary ingredients to an extra ordinary dish. Wow. Raj
Oh my! Stumble by this recipe this morning & made it today! It was amazing...my niece & nephews loved it! A new fav...so quick & easy. The flavor is indescribable.
Looks great! Love the cans for that sardine fix without the hassle. I just made fried sardines with canned sardines in olive oil. Just dump the oil in pan and add chili powder, garlic powder, turmeric, pepper and salt if needed and fry. Btw can you tell me what pan you are using? Can you recommend a good durable saucepan for chai?
Thank you Anita... I tried the canned ones many times but was a total failure. Today checking your video and making it accordingly... yummy.. God Bless... I you are from Goa then please post Ambotik recipe.
Thank u for sharing your recipe. Today im craving of sardines but i want a twist and thanks that i found ur vid. I will try it now im excited bcoz i love the taste of tomato sauce and curry
Question: I'm a beginner at cooking and I usually add the curry leaves at the beginning (with the onions.) Should I always be adding it only at the end? :)
One time in a pinch i fed 4 people with a similar recipe. They loved it! We were so broke that winter we all slept in the kitchen next to an open stove. I hope God forgives me for stealing those little fish.
Curry leaves are available at Indian and sometimes at Korean/Chinese supermarkets. If you can’t find them, it’s ok to leave it out. The sardine curry will still taste good. Fenugreek seeds are also available at Indian stores or online, here: amzn.to/3qBltQZ If you want to grow a curry leaf plant at home, buy one at www.logees.com/ The plant is Curry Leaf (Murraya koenigii) I bought one a while back and it’s nice to have at home 😁 Here is
@@AnitaCooks I tried it earlier with the coconut milk.. It's so delicious. Gives that extra creamy coconutty flavor. Also, I followed your instructions and added the sardines last so it won't overcook. and since I don't have curry leaves, I used 3 tbsp curry powder.. it's just as perfect
I made this today. Turned out great. You know what I love about their instructions? The fact that told us the timing and heat levels...
Glad you liked it 😀👍
YESSS! Why do so many people neglect the heat level
Absolutely agree. The trick to good cooking is knowing when to turn the heat to high. med or low and so Thank you for the detailed information.
Plus what change to look for when the time is up. This video hits all of these marks. Bravo.

Been a Chef for 45 years. When i saw the sardine recipe and the Spam sandwich i said that is my kind of cooking. Subscribed ! :)
Wonderful! 😀
This is basically a Kerala fish curry recipe with canned sardines and no tamarind. I will definitely try as I am a fan of sardines.

Glad you liked it 😀
You add kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves too )
Keep in mind fenugreek leaves have different nutrition when substituting ingredients.
I made this yesterday. I added a small cinnamon stick though and it was delicious. Thanks for the recipe
Recently, I have been on a quest to find interesting ways to prepare canned sardines and this is one of the better recipes that I have found. Thank you.
👍
I’ve done the same. And I agree, this one looks better than many. I’ll try it later.
There's also a mackerel stew by Chef Chuck, worth checking out. You can use sardine instead.

In this recipe ..add a tamarind extract....tastes very good with boiled rice...
Can i just use curry powder to repkace all the powder spices?
Nice
Enjoy 😀
Can we use canned sardine fish in oil here ?
Thx
Can I add coconut milk too
You can, but since Sardines are an oily fish, I think they taste better without coconut milk 😀
Good to use Broth stock, whether fish, need, chicken!! ❤️ Instead of water watch the salt ,Peeper greenoinis Tymes parsley cilantro or curry leaf 👍🙏🤠👈❤️
Would this work for ppl trying to incorporate sardines but hate the fishy taste? Does the curry and spice overpower it?
It works to mask some of the fishiness. If you make it very spicy, that would help 😁
@@AnitaCooks Ill try verrrryyy spice then lol Thank u! :)
