This is a sin to not be on Spotify. I mean, the movie was fairly popular, why wouldn't the song be? I mean, it's an earworm, and the movie was fantastic!
Fun fact: The shooting location at Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia was chosen because of its rustic atmosphere/appearance. When the locals found out a movie was going to be filmed there, they decided to spend $50,000 to have the mine painted and cleaned. This diminished the reason why the area was chosen for shooting in the first place, so $75,000 of the film's budget had to be used to return the mine to its original state for shooting.
if you look at it from a historic point of view, the 80s had many cheap cash grabs that copied the popular films. but yes, there also were gems like this one
@@rrrrr0_agreed. I wouldn't necessarily call this a gem, but MBV was at least one of the few watchable ones of the era. I still watch it most years on Valentine's.
Me too. I mean, how often do you see a killer miner? Also, I just had this idea that they could have made a prequel of sorts showing what exactly happened to Harry Warden during the years between the first 2 murders and the film's events. Also, I watched the remake recently. It's an ok film, but that's mostly thanks to the gore. But, overall, I don't like it. Like, it has some of the worst characters I've ever seen in a horror movie. But at least Harry was a little more in action. And, after watching it, I thought that "What if Harry Warden had a son of his own?" Like, the son could either be the killer or the protagonist just trying to move on from what his father did. Sound like a good idea to anyone?
A movie about Harry Warden's life sounds like an awesome idea. Part a sort of "Saw"setup (who's gonna die to keep all the others alive while they are trapped in the mine. and part Warden being driven insane by the PTSD, Survivours guilt and anger for his superiours that got him trapped in the first place...
Ruthless Terrorist well actually it’s Axel who kills the teens in the original movie. So axel is the real killer, but Harry Warden was the one who got revenge on the people who got him stuck in the mine and forced him to eat his friends.
@bala4fa to be honest I think the movie would have just been forgotten if it wasn't for this song. For me anyway. I was young when I watched this but I was ahead of my time when it came to music. To me a movie score and end credits song (and for some a good opening song) can really make or break a film. Obviously this is mainly in the case for more dramatic films but there are a few horrors that fit into this category as well. Besides this the original Prom Night was a good one as well. But Prom Night was more of a tragedy than horror movie in my opinion. Very sad and emotional ending which is out of place for a horror movie. Along with a killer that you feel extremely sympathetic towards.
Too bad this movie's Harry Warden isn't as well known as Jason or Michael Myers. What really freaks me out is that the miners all wore similar gear so it was hard to tell the killer from the an ally if you worked in the mine.
Harry Warden very well could have been an icon in an 80s horror franchise, but unfortunately the "plot twist" ending killed all chances of that happening.
Why would it matter if a killer is as well known as Jason or freddy? Do you really care what other people like? It should only matter you like dude. You are the one watching, not them
Anyone else want more songs like this in horror movies? Horror movies could be even more awesome with their own theme song just like the 25 "James Bond" films.
Iron Priest Cheers. I love John Carpenter's "The Thing" (1982) so much. It managed to be both intense while still being pretty damn gory and is one of the only films to do that. It had superb practical effects and great acting especially from Kurt Russell and Keith David. I do really enjoy the prequel released in 2011 a lot but I think that probably the only flaw is the CGI over practical effects. As a movie though, the 2011 film really isn't bad by any means, it had great acting all round, good pacing, it was intense, the sound was incredible and it still had a bit of atmosphere albeit not as much as the 1982 John Carpenter film.
Matthew St Vincent I agree. For what it was, I thought the prequel was decent. The way they interact and discover ways to determine the team members' humanity was well done. I definitely prefer practical effects to CGI, which Carpenter's film masterfully incorporated. I would also say that his film better captured an overwhelming sense of paranoia and tension. Carpenter's Thing is without a doubt one of my favorite films ever.
Iron Priest Yeah and it takes a talented director to pull of a film that is both gory and super intense. As a screenwriter I have looking at "The Thing" (1982) for inspiration on the whole intense aspect. I'm currently writing a two hour drama/horror film called "The Effects" and it's going to be extremely character driven and I'm sure 85% of horror fans will love it. It's "I Spit on Your Grave" meets "Friday the 13th" meets "Scream" meets "American History X". It's very dark, gritty and realistic. It's got themes revolving around rape, racism and betrayal. I'm really trying to create something unique and really engaging before I try making throwback horror films (e.g. "Hatchet"). I actually have three great and pretty well known actors who are interested in it and I am speaking to a producer in two weeks. "The Thing" (1982)is my inspiration for how to execute intensity in a film and I'm using "The Hills Have Eyes" (2006) as inspiration for brutal and disturbing violence.
Wow, very nice. I hope things go well with it! While definitely not as professional as what you're doing, some friends and I made a horror film a few years back revolving around a detective with amnesia, who's following a wanted murderer. There's a monster pursuing him, but we followed the rule that you wouldn't see the monster very much; we went for "what you don't see can be scarier than what you do."

What I love about Harry is he’s not supernatural (aside from some above average strength and durability) but he’s not like Jason and Michael, he’s not immortal, he’s not a demon, he’s just a guy who wanted revenge against the ones who were responsible for when he and his other fellow miners were trapped in the cave. As I said, he’s not supernatural in anyway but this song perfectly describes the fear this town has for the killer, all it takes is a guy with a weapon filled with rage to strike fear into the hearts of an entire community.
Yeah, I like supernatural slasher like Michael and Jason, but I like non-supernatural slashers like Harry Warden much better since its more realistic which makes it a lot scarier imo. Great plot for this tragically underseen slasher. Nova Scotia scenery expertly used. Thanks for the theme song upload! I remember this being in my head for weeks after first viewing. Cool story, I sat next to a guy at a small diner in the AZ desert near the northern border in 1995, and he told me he was an extra in this movie and still has his costume from the film. I looked him up in the credits, and he was listed as "Fat Miner." There's like 10 minutes cut from original (MPAA cried too gory), but the special edition 2009 has a few minutes put back.

They don’t make em like they used to! If anyone could guide me to some more classy and or cheesy 80’s flicks send em my way!
Everyone spent the 14th in quiet regret. In this little town when 14th comes round there is silence and fear in the air. Remember the morn when the legend was born all the shock and horror was there...
I think I really like that song because it was so good and I can't believe that video was really published on the twentieth day in January 2009 last year when my brother and I were still 8 years old for a little while this time.
So surprised this movie gets a measly 47% on Rotten Tomatoes and about the same score on Metacritic. I was 15 when this came out, and they’d always show it on HBO late and night. This song at the ending credits always creeped me out, but it’s good and very catchy. Great underrated classic early slasher flick
Yeah it’s a shame because I like this sole film more than the Friday the 13th and the scream movies combined, and they got tons of sequels so why can’t this get one that finishes the story

Haunt Former Dude, how are you still not verified?!?
dad took me to the drive inn in 81 when this came out. my bedroom was in the basement and I was scared as fuck that Harry warden was hiding in the closet. 35 years later I still love it
Happy Valentines Day!
Happy Valentines Day. He strikes Again.
Harry is getting ready, folks...Best not have that Valentines Day party...
The laughter at the beginning still gives me chills.
Best horror movie ever made. No, best movie ever made.
We really need Harry Warden finally in Dead by Daylight!
This has to be my favorite slasher next to Jason, Michael, and Freddy
I. Love my. Bloody. Valentine 💝 1981. Horror. Flim. Soundtrack. Is. Great. I. Have. The. Flim. On Blu. Ray. Happy. Halloween 🎃 to. Everyone.
This day belongs to Harry Warden ❤
Loved this film and song since I was a kid. I play this track and try to watch it every February 14th.
Just finished rewatching this movie for I don't know how many times. It never gets old.
Oh the legend they say,on a valentine‘s day is a curse that will live on and on!
Happy Valentine's Day ❤⛏
Happy Bloody Valentine's day everyone!
What ever happened to Mabel? Lol
1981 - The Year of Fear
So many horror movies in a single year. Raiders of the lost Ark and Fox and the Hound even have horror moments in them.
song is PERFECT!!! you can feel this..
Wow what a great song
To me this theme is right up there with Halloweens theme and freddys.
And no one will know, as the years come and go,
of the horror, from long time ago.
And no one will know, as the years come and go,
of the horror, from long time ago.
Happy Valentines day to all us Horror Fans.
This song is perfect for this movie
Spotify come on baby
That was a good theme song for a classic slasher film. Horror movies today dont have that anymore.
I love the beging of the song it like has laughter, and then goes into the song beautiful song to
If Harry ever gets included in Dead by Daylight, this song had better appear in his trailer.
No as his perk menu song
He would be such a badass killer.
It's one of those times when someone actually does a horror theme right
RIP to the actor who played TJ
Who's here after snapshot 22w15a?
The Warden has been significantly buffed... It has a ranged attack now... And I thought it couldn't get scarier...
I guess nothing says I love you like a pick axe to the face!
I had almost forgotten about this slasher gem until I recently played Until Dawn, which contains several references to My Bloody Valentine. I haven't watched it in ages but it's definitely up there among my personal favorite slasher movies. Its time to revisit the horror from long time ago!
Make sure to pick up the original with all the restored footage instead of the remake
My new favorite song
Happy Bloody Valentine - 2017
Well I know what I’m watching on Valentine’s Day
I like how Harry warden is the main villain of both movies despite really only being in flashbacks or in the remake being a corpse
Happy Valentines Day 2023 ⛏️
My favorite horror/slasher film of all time
This I believe may be one of my favorite slasher movies.
Best villain theme song EVER!
This song sounds a lot like Gordon Lightfoot's Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
one of my favorite bands took their name from this film
This Song is Classic and This Movie My Bloody Valentine And Prom Night Is Not Far Apart Both 📽️ in Canada in that era too.. I love this movie it's more hardcore in any we seen now day's movies and horror this Underrated movie that many people thought it was...but it wasn't is still the best 1981 horror I seen of Paramount Pitcher's ❤️❤️❤️
This movie and Sleepaway camp had some fucking awesome ending themes really left an impression on me especially now that I’ve recently got around to watching them again since I was a kid! They don’t make em like they used to! If anyone could guide me to some more classy and or cheesy 80’s flicks send em my way!
I love this soundtrack. Have to add that this is a really interesting movie and one of the best slashers.
I would watch this every Valentine's day
@blondie2010able The singer is John McDermott (who has since made a name for himself in Canada as a Celtic balladeer).
The song doesn't actually describe what the legend is, it just says how people feel about it.
Everyone spent the 14th in quiet regret. In this little town when 14th comes round there is silence and fear in the air. Remember the morn when the legend was born all the shock and horror was there...
@Schwanzmajor my man out here in rabid defense of a shitty movie
I think I really like that song because it was so good and I can't believe that video was really published on the twentieth day in January 2009 last year when my brother and I were still 8 years old for a little while this time.
This is now my favorite song,i love Harry Warden
i love how it has axel's insane laugh in it
Too bad this song wasn't included in the 2009 remake, it would have been the saving grace to that god awful remake.
Remakes can't ever capture the creepiness the old 70's and 80's movies had and I don't know why
360whiplash YES!!
Nah
Nothing could have made that movie any good
They actually were going to but the person who wrote this song wouldn’t let them
This song is really cool
This movie is vastly underrated and deserves lots of cred. I love it personally and I can’t wait to rewatch it with friends.
The ghost busters remake got a 74 like no this is wat better
Wonder why they never made a sequel to this. It made money. They had a built in Vday audience. A scary killer. It's a shame. The remake was good tho.
Yeah it’s a shame because I like this sole film more than the Friday the 13th and the scream movies combined, and they got tons of sequels so why can’t this get one that finishes the story
And a teddle teddle, tum-tummmm.
* cue Jethro Tull and some old hippy English Folk.
