Jason, you are a freaking genius!! Not only are you able to put together a complete template for a solid guard game, but you've summarized into a record few minutes!!!
Dude your a wizard man!!! wow, I'm a lifelong wrestler in the state of PA and just beginning my BJJ journey at 31 yrs old now after I've been off the mat for some time- soooo much to re-learn and new moves and techniques- your a wizard tho with this Action/Reaction intellect- thx for sharing! glad I found your coaching
@Hotkarl63 Hey, I'm a Ribeiro/Maxercise Jiu Jitsu bluebelt, I'd like to to add that most techniques in the closed guard can only be completed by opening the legs; everything from basic scissor sweep, to submissions like armbar and omoplata, or even two on one to taking the back, in order to have the mobility to execute the move, you got to open up the gaurd. Good luck.
Nicely done. Nothing fancy that requires super hero qualities, but bread and butterstuff. Exactly what one needs to excercise again and again. Transitions from one technique to another until they become smooth and feel totally natural. Excellent sampling of the different techniques!! Keep up the good work!
Scully, you have some of the best videos out there. I only get to train 2-3 days a week but your videos help me on the days when i'm not training. I watch and learn things that I normaly miss when I'm rolling. Really great stuff! Looking forward to more, Jason! Great work and much RESPECT!
I love your videos. Every other instructional video I've seen is such a waste of time in comparison. The way you get information across and your manner are impeccable.
Ever since white belt (10 years ago) I’ve been watching your videos and I never get tired of them, even when it’s just basics. The creativity and combinations you use are great. Keep making more like this please! 👏
this is great stuff, the way it should be taught because every time you go for something they go for something as well which leaves certain openings, we need to know all those openings. do more videos like this!
If you made a DVD or (even better) a downloadable compilation of all your fast info videos (like this and the closed guard one) I will buy it. Great stuff! This is how it should be done.
i like the kimura to back mount #1 and #2. did something similar in a tournament once, and ending up winning via rnc after some struggle. felt awesome.
I love that this combo set leads with the hip bump sweep. Always been a favorite of mine and since I've been actively trying to develop a combo game I've realized the best combos start with a sweep or submission attempt that elicits the most dramatic and predictable response from your opponent. Good stuff, I'll come back to this video for sure!
Notes (no-gi): Hip bump to Kimura They posture To guillotine They post arm back, To triangle To omoplata They posture, Kimura to hip bump They bend arm Back, to omoplata, To guillotine Tucks hand To back They extend arm, Throw over to back To wristlock Omoplata to Wrist lock They posture up,, To triangle They posture and get arm Back thru, To armbar Back roll To back They roll Roll to side control Log roll sweep They grab Wrist, Guillotine to triangle To underhook to crucifix sweep (1/2 butterfly) Armbar to Wrist lock To omoplata To Kimura (other arm) They pull arm out, To triangle They stack, To armcrush To Flower sweep They stack to Shinpush to armbar Armbar to other arm Rolling armbar Triangle to kimura to omoplata They tuck arm to side To fist choke To Wrist lock Rev triangle Sweep (high hip bump)
Phantastic video, I'm getting really inspired to try more triangles in the future, now that I now that I've seen a couple of options what to do when the choke doesn't work (which happens more than I care to admit). Thanks Jason!
Love this video. I'm a white belt training for soon a month, and recently i discovered the power of combinations. When i went straight for the triangle from guard it would always be loose mostly due to lack of technique, but going for the Omo Plata to triangle my triangles were so solid. Cant wait adding the Kimura, arm and wrist locks to the triangle :) Like he says, being steps ahead and knowing the next moves before their done are powerful, if not essential.
All I can say is WOW! I'm going to keep replaying clip to learn all the terms used. Now when I watch MMA fights, I should understand more, and enjoy more. Thanks a heap again.
How long have you been doing BJJ? Sometimes I watch these videos and I'm astounded by how many obvious combos there are that I just do not see. These videos are awesome
For anyone looking for more detailed instruction on the crucifix sweep, it is more commonly called the 100% sweep. I would recommend looking into the 200% also
Wow. You have so much in this one video. Awesome. Bookmarking for reference. A couple of these I hadn't even thought about it in a couple years. Great stuff!
@Hotkarl63 Closed Gaurd is when your opponent is in your guard and your feet are locked behind them.. holding your opponent close to you.. open guard is just the opposite.. Your legs are open/on the hips/etc..
@Hotkarl63 Basically closed guard is when your legs are around their waist and feet past their hips whereas open guard is with feet on the hips or even in their armpits (well that gets into spider guard but it's a form of open guard).
Excellent video. Well made with clear instruction. I will watch this many times and share with my friends. Your movement is excellent, a well deserved blackbelt
Sometimes I think that there aren't that many different techniques in bjj. Then I watch these videos and remember how stupid I am.
It feels that way when I fight but then I try to name what I know and I realize there are a lot
you are stupid :)
@@archangul and you're a bitch
snap...
this was seriously the best thing i have seen in a long time for my game, so many combos i never thought of
11 years later and this video still continues to teach. Thank you Jason!🙇♂🙇♂🙇♂
is this taken from the matrix learning program?
I.... know jiujitsu??
My ground game has improved 300% after watching this, thank you sooooo much!! I hope to see a similar side control or mount video in the near future.
Jason, you are a freaking genius!! Not only are you able to put together a complete template for a solid guard game, but you've summarized into a record few minutes!!!
This is the Best Transitions to submissions Tutorial i have seen on Utube

I was asking my school about set ups like this but there's a language barrier. This is awesome!

Hip bump to triangle is my favorite. Do more vids like these, they really help! And thanks!
Awesome video. The speed with which you show these techniques actually makes it more comprehensible.

This guys videos are underrated. Great stuff. Very very technical and basic.

The best description I've heard of BJJ "asymmetric problem solving with a physical component."
