I attempted the jacare choke today during sparring and it was going well as described in the video except I forgot to block his hips so I was unable to sink in the choke. Lesson learned.
I am new too ju jitsu and when rolling I always find myself in a position to administer a gi choke but without the knowledge on how to execute it properly. Thanks for this video I will try some of the simpler ones next time I roll.
A friend used the Jacare choke on me while training. He said he learned it in Japan while training right before a competition. I have pulled it off on a weekly basis ever since. very sneaky choke!
I'm going to try this on somebody at Walmart right now. Love these super fast videos. Hate to watch a 10 minute video on something you can learn in 10 seconds!
This is awesome, I love all of the attacks from side control. The Jacare choke has become my go- to from side control. It's a safe (as in I have never lost side control when attempting this) and effective.
Some nice work on these videos Jason, really enjoy this. Im just a white belt so some of the techniques havent been introduced to me, but its great to see a top level guy like yourself show these options & variations.
Thanks a lot for your videos, Jason. You've helped give me a lot of great new ideas and have sparked a lot of questions from me during training. You're videos have been helping me me improve my game. Thanks!
Putting up another numbered list of the techniques following the list I put in the comments of the 51 guard sweeps video. I figure I'll hit the videos with fewer techniques and this one was particular interesting, especially the Jakare mod towards the end. Big Ups to Jason Scully. You and Stephen Kesting are my favorite jj youtubers. From back 1) Collar and Lapel choke from back( concept of distancing chest from their back in many back chokes) 2)half nelson choke from back 3) half nelson with ezekiel finish from back (own sleeve grab) 4) ezekiel from back 5) bow and arrow 6) bow and arrow with shin to neck finish Turtle from Clock: 7) clock choke from turtle 8) hell choke from clock position on turtle Turtle from Loop 9) loop choke on turtle 10) underhook with loop grip to roll finish 11)loop grip and grab gi pants at knee in place of underhook to roll finish 12)hell choke from loop grip/position (JSculls says very high %) 13)loop position/grib to quick twist and sleeve grab to finish from bottom (sneaky AF) Mount 14)cross collar from mount 15)ezekiel from mount (very cool variation) Side Control 16)from side: feed nearside arm to deep collar, lapel with other arm, drop elbow to finish 17)from side: baseball w/ lapel feed 18)from side: baseball to lapel feed transition to cross collar from behind 19)from side: switch hands with lapel feed to cross collar 20) lapel feed to brabo 21) Jakare (own lapel feed) 22) Jakare with oral assistance to own lapel feed to be inconspicuous 23) Jakare finished with shin on neck pressure 24)nearside own lapel feed to cross collar finish
Jacaré choke is among my favorite ones, very few people understand what I'm about to do until is too late. I would just watch out for the arm under your opponents arm during clock choke, I get a lot of kimuras off when people place their hands under my arm if I'm on turtle position, actually I kinda go for turtle to bait a kimura from under there...
Thnx man great to have all this chokes especially the lapel chokes are a sneaky strong choke. You gave me a lot answers cause I know the details but have not the speed. White belt 4 stripes :)
Hey dude I have a great idea, show us just ten gi chokes but for each position, side mount, mount, north south, guard, back mount, turtle position, that would be masterful.
LOL, poor guy. See his face on that reverse version of the "baseball" choke, I think you might of choke a little shit out'em! Great stuff, thank you for your help.
Hey I catch people with guillotines in no gi when they shoot and I sprawl and when I have closed guard. I'm sure there are many replacements but can you give me some examples of what type of gi choke I could use in these scenarios because I have a hard time getting a guillotine when my opponent is wearing a gi
I never thought of using your mouth to hold the lapel.....that is brilliant!
TheJubdestroy Mark Law in his book Falling Hard tells a story where he tried that but actually bit his opponent much to his embarrassment
TheJubdestroy
Yes. Your dirty, sweaty gi full of germs
Until your teeth get ripped out of your mouth...=/
@@Italian81 -Just like your grips you gotta learn to let go. The gentle art
I didnt know you could use them like that at all😳I cant wait till I get my gi
I like Scully's videos because he always shows high percentage technics. Thank you for sharing Scully.

I love the flow on this video, thank you for putting that together!
I am new too ju jitsu and when rolling I always find myself in a position to administer a gi choke but without the knowledge on how to execute it properly. Thanks for this video I will try some of the simpler ones next time I roll.
I've gotten off the Hell choke and the last one once by chance since watching these. Thanks.
Fantastic video! I love the idea of getting the cross-collar choke off of the Jacare choke from side control.
A friend used the Jacare choke on me while training. He said he learned it in Japan while training right before a competition. I have pulled it off on a weekly basis ever since. very sneaky choke!
I am a long time member of your grappler guide app, and you put much videos that I can think of. Keep up the good work.
Awesome video. Your partner's face at 3:31 is what I'll be looking for when attempting these. Thanks Jason.
