This GE dishwasher has a problem starting. It will not always start like it is supposed to. The washer will fill just for a little bit then shut off. May even have a H2O error. This problem points to the pressure switch on the new Dishwashers. IF there is indeed an issue there You can either replace it or clean it. We clean it in this video and unit works well afterwards. If the issue continues i would recommend replacing it if the cleaning does not work.

Wow! You described the problem well enough that I tried this and fixed my dishwasher which broke the DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING! I never would've gotten a technician out until next week . . . usually wouldn't mind hand washing for a while but this helps a lot! Thanks for the clear description and clear instructions!

I have been waiting on a repair man for 6 weeks, he came and diagnosed my dishwasher to have a broken flood valve. He asked if I broke it???? Like I know where that is. Looking back, all problems started with a filthy filter. I mean, wow. Cleaned that and will clean it monthly from now on. Still with error code H20 into about 20 minutes. Watched this video. These parts he goes over also packed with thick gunk. I was not able to detach the wires, so I cleaned all the parts under the dishwasher. It is running, sounds like new, time will tell if its fixed. I am running it without the bottom plate on for now to keep an eye on it with a flat pizza pan under there to make sure there is not leaks, so far so good. Time will tell. When you have limited appliance repair in a rural area, and a man that has no VM on or returns calls, this U tube is extremely important to all. We only have 2 people living here, never put really dirty dishes in there, so I could imagine this is very common.

The video not only saved me from buying a new Dishwasher but also showed me the easy way of replacing the faulty device. Many many thanks !! When my four year old GE dishwasher started showing the erratic behavior a couple of months ago, I contacted my warranty company (as I had bought extended warranty) and they shipped me new pump and arranged for a repair technician to install it. When I described the behavior to the technician he immediately suspected control board without even looking at the dishwasher and ordered the board. Two different technicians came a week later and installed the new board and pump without touching the pressure switch at all. But the problem remained. So based on their assessment the warranty company told me the machine was unrepairable and refunded me the full purchase price. However, based on my internet search I had suspected all along that the pressure switch was the culprit, so I ordered the new switch and replaced it which took me less than 15 minutes after watching this Video. Problem SOLVED !!!!!! So now I have a dishwasher with new control card, new pump and new pressure switch all thanks to those incompetent technicians who never bothered to check the pressure switch. BTW, the old pressure switch just had a slight gunk on it so it would have worked also after cleaning but the new switch only cost me $20 so I don't mind replacing it.

This did the trick when all else failed! I’ve been struggling with my GE dishwasher for the past six months. It’s been a combination of FTD and H2O errors, and that maddening “da-dee, da-dee, da-dee” error beep. I’d replaced the drain pump, cleaned the hoses, and done other things that sometimes helped and sometimes didn’t. The machine stopped running again today and I was close to throwing in the towel, but then I discovered this recently uploaded video. A clogged pressure switch was the culprit, and the fix in this video worked perfectly. Thank you!

You are a godsend. I spent countless months trying to resolve the alternating ftd, fed, and h2o error codes on my new-ish GE dishwaser (drain pump, disposal, ensuring no kinks in the hoses, checking water pressure, cleaning filter, baking soda and vinegar, new detergent, repositioning the dishwasher, factory reset) and hand washing dishes.
I was about to give up and hire a technician but then came across your video this morning. You easily walked me through the diagnosis and repair process (there was a clog that was undoubtedly causing the issue) and now my dishwasher is running. Hallelujah.

This is the answer! A year before this video I had same issue, had a few repair folks out, replaced boards, pumps, etc. Was able to get replacement dishwasher after emailing GE appliances CEO directly. New dishwasher had same issue. Finally got a repairman that knew this fix. I now clean it out every few months. Sometimes you will get PRS (pressure sensor, but looks like Pr5) error when reattaching sensor...just unplug it, make sure both plug and receptacle are dry/clean, and re-plug. That cleared the error for me.

Thank you so much for being so much more thorough than the last video I watched. On my unit, the white part was filled with gunk. So I cleaned that out and it washed the entire load. The next load, I got the H2O error. I'm so glad I came across your video. I didn't know you could, or should, take that part apart. I did, the hole was clogged. I used a toothpick to open the hole and voila! A running dishwasher! Thank you so much!

Many thanks for this spot on video! I repaired our 3-year old GE dishwasher according to your instructions and we are back in business. Little hiccup on account of me not properly assembling back the sensor the first time (one side latch remained unlocked). Worked for me. Thanks!
A few pointers that might be helpful:
    1) Take a rag and soak up as much water as you can inside the dishwasher by the filter or water will pour onto the floor.
    2) There's a small tab holding the wire harness in place. Make sure you're pushing that down when removing the wire.
    3) After cleaning, make sure the pressure switch is perfectly aligned in the plastic housing. One of the ends can be off by tiny amount and you may not notice unless you look closely.
    4) If you've finished and the dishwasher is still not getting water, you may not have cleaned it well enough! I had to clean mine twice before it worked.

THANK YOU!!! Both parts had gunk in them. i noticed the filter is right next to this part. Perhaps if the filter is cleaned frequently the issue may not occur. I'd had the dishwasher 15 months when getting the H2O error andI was certainly not happy when I thought I'd need to purchase parts. This fix took only minutes. I used a metal cake tester to clean out the hole.

After troubleshooting my GE GDT665SGNWW I came to the conclusion it has to be a sensor of some sort. I was not receiving the H20 error, the pump would drain the dishwasher, the dishwasher would fill, the element would heat. I seen this behavior on every setting but sporadically the door light would turn off and the cycle would fail. This video pointed me directly to the problem. Good video and thank you for sharing this knowledge!

Thank you SO much! I live in Phoenix and have extremely hard water, and this little sensor was so full of build up and crud… no wonder my washer wouldn’t run!

Saved my bacon! I had already replaced the full control valve and it kept doing it. Was about to buy a new dishwasher. Should have known it was a sensor! Was full of junk. THANKS!

Thank you!!! This was exactly what mine needed! Mine was giving me the H2O error and stopping randomly. I replaced the fill control valve hoping that was the problem, but it was still doing the same thing, H2O error. This was the issue, badly clogged pressure switch. Awesome and helpful video!

Thank you! I was getting the H2O error code...Google took me to this video. I watched it, installed a new pressure switch and fixed my dishwasher for less than $30. (BTW - I was amazed at how much gunk and buildup was inside my old pressure switch once it was removed!)

Hey, man! You nailed it for me. Did it exactly and as simply as you explained. I couldn't find my awls so I ussed a snapped toothpick to get the gunk out.
The hardest part for me was getting the dang harness off as the wiring wasn't nearly long as it was in your vid.
Much thanks for your very intuitive video, sir. KUDOS!!

Thanks for this! My GE also developed this problem. Sorry for the cynicism, but having examined this sensor up close, I think the engineers in the Dept of Planned Obsolescence invented this one! I took your instructions a few steps further and disassembled everything, where I found gunk built up much deeper than I could reach with a pick. Beware, though. Deeper disassembly and reasonably get a little complicated for those who aren't more experienced in the art of tinkering.

Thanks very much for this, I was so confused! What a dumb complicated issue to have happen so often! Our GE dishwasher is pretty new too…what a weird design flaw.

This fixed it exactly - thanks so much! It wasn't giving me an error code for the first ~7 attempts to run, but it did eventually. It would just shut off anywhere between 1-15 minutes into the cleaning. Also - quite a bit of water came out of mine; I recommend having several towels ready just in case. I was on vacation for 2 weeks and am guessing the gunk dried, closing it off.
