Excellent video! I see soo many survivors clones on steam but the vast majority fail to realize that its success wasnt just because of it being easy to play, it had rogue like elements, or the fact that the player could defeat countless hordes of enemies, as fun as that core loop is. Skinner Boxes galore. The entire game revolves around rewards (many of which are random) with casino like visuals and sounds. It was cleverly designed to be addictive.
@@m0stw4nt3d6 Pretty interesting stuff. I wonder how a high dopamine release from gaming compares to that of for example MDMA. I mean, I know the difference but 😂
A good survival game is dead rising on Xbox 360. It's lots of fun to kill zombies with different weapons which you have to keep seeking because they break, sometimes with just one hit, you can Kick of course and need look for food / health. It's also a story, you make progress, ultimately have to escape to complete the game, save people for rewards before they die and can take pictures with a camera.for points. Basically a good survival game gives you lots to do, discover, explore, and has different difficulty settings and challenges. Your deaths should feel like it was your fault. Didn't have enough ammo, health etc.
You should make another evolution survival with more complexity like enviroment, temperature, and more things you can evolve like fur and mass to help out I loved that video!
Im also a self taught developer, taking notes. Next year(after I have gotten like 3 k dollars) I am going to start on my dream project. Thank you for this!
Nicely edited video however I fundamentally disagree that this is a good idea. As game designers it's not our job to create an addiction that will take over peoples lives. Instead we should strive to create enjoyable experiences that are compelling enough for the players to spend time in them.
Your game also wouldn’t be addictive if it wasn’t enjoyable. Asking yourself how to make a game addictive is asking yourself how to make a game so enjoyable that people cannot stop playing
this video is a hidden gem of TH-cam, thanks a lot

And maybe monkeys also, to see if they evolve to become something similar to people
@@Im_the_best_duckwouldn't the mechanism for that need to be coded in?
I think modular creatures would be more interesting
I see some new style of content huh? Love it🙌🏻
At this point I can say as always 🤣 thanks ❤️
I think the main thing is: Have "awards" feel good, and have enough "rewards" throughout playtime.

Totally agree the point is different but producers unfortunately want addictive games
People have different goals my friend why cant I make my game addicting and fun at the same time?
Well, I want to make an addictive game with low effort and maximum play time
These are not exclusive goals..
Your game also wouldn’t be addictive if it wasn’t enjoyable. Asking yourself how to make a game addictive is asking yourself how to make a game so enjoyable that people cannot stop playing
Nice video can you please tell me or make a video for how add high dopamine in puzzle game
Remember kids: fun != addictive. E.g. story games like Firewatch (super fun, not addictive at all)
mathematics? addition? multiplication? SQUARE ROOTS?!??
