- These cars are tight, and fitting inside at all, much less with a helmet on, is not easy for us corn-fed folk. Today we THOROUGHLY examine how to make as much room as possible and comfortably shove a 6'2" 330 boi inside with room to spare.

I ended up doing the Aurora Auto one as my wife and I both the drive car so wanted to keep the forward/backward adjustability. I'm 6'2 and 220 lbs. With the bracket on I have a good 3 inches clearance from the roof and can drive autocross with my helmet on the hardtop up. Nice to have these options available!
Thank you for this, I'm 6'1" and about 320 and looking to buy a NC. I didn't realize the Miata seat lowering rail market was so big.
These are the 3 main competitors, and they all have their advantages. It's not real big, just very competitive among the few people who give a shit about it.
JASS mainly caters to the NC market and has a bunch of good stuff for them, email Vlad to see what rails he recommends for your body type and he'll fit you in there 100%🤙
I'm 6'0" and put in the Paco, and I hate that it doesn't have a slider. I still brush on the ST with helmet. So, I think I am going to go to the Sparco QRT-R and put it on a slider... I hope it works.
These generate more headroom than the Paco in the configuration I have them in, email JASS to see what setup he recommends for your build. He has a lot of options.
I bought these from moss Miata. I was so excited to be able to fit the helmet under the stock hoops and soft top down. These brackets were seriously thick. Design looked awesome. Unfortunately they were the non recaro design. Moss Miata sent a label I was able to return them no issues, which was nice but sucked cause I was really liking the look of these brackets. Directions didn’t come with paper, just a card and a TH-cam vid. No mention of any modifications to the seat. The paco motorsports bracket I got to replace the jass bracket was definitely more stock thickness and less wow this is nuclear bomb proof bracket.
Install for the paco was … follow the order. You DO need to remove the plastic trim and keep the bolts loose. No way I’m okay with 3 tight bolts and 1 with a lock washer kinda tight. Just take the trim off and you can reach that outside bolt.
5’11” long torso can actually close the soft top with my sedici helmet. Still got 2 fingers in the broomstick test though. Really have to move the seat forward to get a good amount of lowering.
Good luck to anyone trying any of these brackets. Cost is lower but almost feels worth the roll bar or totally new seats depending on your needs.
I would already have a rollbar if it was feasible with the RF functionality. I'd love to go to a proper race bucket, but as much as I daily drive and as big as I am, I haven't found a seat comfortable enough to make the switch
@@redhenracing2 I feel ya. I got veeery close to getting the RF. They just looks SO good.
Hi Ryan, the short response here is, that Moss does not distrubute the version mentioned in the video. It is directly sold from Jass Performance. You have the fixed version and your response does not relate to the above video.
The fixed version got major rework recently - their front is dropped with 10mm (helps everyone who is into racing, basically it will be 10mm below what Gavyn is referring to in the video) and the installation is eased.
@@jassperformance Eventually i'm going to order the recaro brackets from yall directly. The construction quality of what i got from your bracket was better than OEM and id would feel much safer with what i saw from your product compared to the Paco brackets. Not to say the paco is less than OEM but yours looked extremely well build/designed.
@@ryanmurphy4637 thanks, any questions - you can contact me directly as well.
Hey there, thank you for all the insight! I may or may not be buying a new MX5 with the Recaro seats in the coming weeks, and it seems I'll be in the same boat of needing lower seat rails to fit. I'm about the same height with a 32" inseam for my jeans, and wanted to know how you compared, and what you might recommend given the slight difference with the Recaro seats.
That would be a question for Vlad, shoot him an email and he will find a way to fit you in there. I'm not sure if the rails differ for the Recaro.
@@redhenracing2 already did, thank you again!
Try bringing the seat forward a smidge and tilting the back more hard against the wall. This way you're more slung into the seat and should give you more headroom. It also helps to wear flat shoes or racing shoes as you can get another 1/2 inch of slung'ness without your knees hitting the dash. I'm 6'1 and doing this I can keep the top up and wear a helmet in my RF.
I have racequip shoes for the track, and while I love the flatness and the way the curved heel lets your feet pivot responsively, I find it so much harder to heel-toe in them. Luckily, I mostly run autocross and don't need to do that often.
I'm 6'1 and trying to cram into my NC PRHT right now. Jass Brackets and the Gordy M mod to put the seat pan on the floor. I only have a motorcycle helmet at the moment and it's not gonna happen with the top up. I think next step is cutting the foam in half. Have you cut foam out the bottom of your seat yet?
I have not, Vlad has talked about doing some foam removal on the bolsters though.
How do you like his rails in the NC?
Great video. Been waiting for it. Refresh memory, how tall are you? So I'm 6' 1 1/2" and thinner build and have the auroras sitting in the box waiting to be installed but debating on getting these instead. I can fit with a helmet but it rubs on roof and forces me to look down some. I keep the front seat angle adjustment all the way up on stock seat/rails. Does the 48mm kit retain adjusting of the front and which do you think would be better choice? (I'm not the most diy inclined either)
The front adjustment dial is retained unless you do the optional "front seat drop mod", and I recommend it. None of us were comfortable without it.
If you're already close on fitment with stock seats, I'd reckon the Auroras give all the drop you need. I would shoot Vlad an email to see if he even recommends these, you may find the drop too harsh for your build
@@redhenracing2 When did you do the "front seat drop mod" ? When you had the standard 48mm drop done or not till the final rail setting you did at the end?
@@flyers10az great question, I should have clarified it in the video. I did it at the same time as trimming the seat pan wings. From when I'm complaining about leg room @16:30 to when I have plenty of leg room @17:30, it happened in there
@@redhenracing2 thanks. Do you think that if the std 48mm drop setting gave you enough head room that the "front drop mod" would have made it ok since got some relief on that leg angle?
@@flyers10az yeah, dropping the front should have the same effect at either rail setting and I would recommend it either way
Just grind off the top of the helmet 😂
The obvious choice
I love your music choices, not at all what I would expect from your channel! What is the "There's no denying what we are" song?
It's the same vibe we usually carry, I let an audience poll decide the music once and we don't let that happen any more 🤣
That one is No Games by Swif7. We use a lot of his stuff, all but one or two songs on this video were from him.
You mentioning that they asked you not to show the rails remind me of the Blackbird Fabworx rollbar. If you’re part of the ND Facebook groups, you know everyone is pretty protective about it as well.
I believe Blackbird asks of their customers not to show the cross sections of their rollbar, can only assumes it’s due to the very competitive market.
It's a reasonable request I suppose, masking all of it in this video only took like 4 hours at my editing pace 😅
fun fact, the ND GT seats are somehow taller than the sport. I've still never sat in a Club. At 6'5", it was the first thing I noticed about the GT's nicer interior.
Like, the leather seats sit higher than the cloth? I would have never imagined, never sat in a cloth one before
Do they really?! I have a GT and the thing that bugs me the most is the damn homelink mirror (it obstructs my vision).
@@VictorPitstop the homelink mirror do be getting in the way, that is thing is bulky

WHY ARE THEY SO LITTLE

What are the wheels and specs? Looks dope on the rf
Thanks man! These are Work Meisters in a 17x8+30 with 225 Falkens on them, I drive a lot so I cheap out on daily tires
@@redhenracing2 thanks for the reply, loving the nd content, waiting on the delivery of my 24 rf so I'm currently living vicariously through you and other nd TH-camrs lol.
Totally understandable to cheap out on daily tires, wouldn't make sense to burn through expensive ones on the daily commute.
@@_vinke no problem, if you look back at our last track day video there is a lot more info on my whole setup and how it performs.
You getting into autocross with it?
@@redhenracing2 not sure for autocross but definitely track as I'm relatively close to one
@@_vinkeget on some form of track any way you can, if there's a Track Night in America event near you those are great! But autox is a great way to get out there too
Maybe take the headliner out?
I've considered it for race days, but with the new seating position bottomed out I don't need to 🤷
Maybe not destroy a nice car
