Friend of mine has one a took me for a quite a long drive mainly through a city. The attention you get was a little intimidating at busy streets. Driving through tunnels was amazing fun. Seeing your reflection in the shop window amazing. But when I got to get out after 1hour and half my bum was numb and my back hurt lol
You can own shit like this my dood. Go to school, work your ass off, get some industry experience, go to more school, keep aggressively moving yourself up. Sacrifice time, friends, everything to keep chasing positions and money and being smart with what you have. Buy cars, pay them off, trade them up for the next level of car, pay it off... eventually you'll always have a high end car for a low end payment if you do it smart, invest, wait until you're 50-60... prioritize the car over the house or wife or whatever. Bam, there you go. Easy!

Reasons that aren't a Ferrari problem: You have a crappy garage. You live on a hill. You can't pick up the kids in a two-seater. You don't put your bag the passenger foot-well. Reasons that are a Ferrari problem: Oil temp, speed bumps, parking, entry/exit, people's reaction to it,
Speed bumps are not a Ferrari problem. The car is meant to sit low to the ground for performance. If you cannot maneuver over or around a speed bump, then you are driving down the wrong road.
I've seen lambos rip there front grill in NYC streets that are smooth But just a tad bit misaligned Had to get out and pick up the carbon fiber parts and store it away
My father is a mechanical engineer and yes, we must heat up the engine first for at least 2-5 minutes, did you know about fuel injection in car? I know for some people logic they say that doing as what you say will save the gasoline while it can be true but it will interrupted your engine, easier to say, if one didn't heat up the car and doesn't let the fuel injected in the engine, the engine will suddenly stop after you turn it on which then caused the engine survivability hold for only a few weeks or month after warranty expired. I'm not a specialist as my father is but he kinda taught me that it is important to heat up the engine first before driving it. And he'd get mad if i didn't heat up the car and drive because a lot of money will fly if we care more about gasoline than the car engine. If you're using that car daily then it is okay, but as for this guy who's riding ferrari once in a while, a warm up important. It's like human too, we must warm up first before doing things, then start jogging slowly after a warm up. You can't just "oh boy, let's run as fuq boi to warm my body up" then u got cramped. Pkdndksdjfkxc fuck I'm lazy to write shit now... But An important note specially if you want to buy a supercar like ferrrari or porsche or camaro or any other good car out there... I owned a 2004 360 F1 for two years and I loved it! 1. Your clutch is slipping too much in first gear. Adjustment needed (I live on a hill and didn't have that problem). 2. Instead of letting it idle, just take it easy for the first few miles. 3. You are like me, I kept it for special occasions, made driving it something to look forward to, an event.
In America you can buy a 360 in need of repair for 30k usd. There are TH-cam guys who have bought auction ferraris...if you are mechanically minded and diligent a working stiff could make it a reality without being rich. Insurance wise get collector car insurance and keep your mileage down...it is doable.
@@brandonbentley8532 I'm not rich! You don't need to be rich to buy one but you do have to have the money to maintain these cars. The parts are expensive and they are complex and beyond most people's mechanical ability to fix by themselves, especially when electrical issues strike which is a common problem with them.
Daily drive my F12, leave it out side, battery is fine, bag on passenger seat, just drive of steady until engine is warm, know where I am parking before I set off, ignore everyone around me, for everything else I take the Toyota pickup.... just love using the ferrari though like to think I know the car inside out in all weather conditions. When I leave my house I have to join a dual carriageway from a standstill. It needs plenty of revs to get up to speed so it's best to warm the engine a little instead of doing that with a cold engine.
I read it in a F430 manual that you should wait until a certain oil temp before you go to a certain rev range. Sounds like he needs to hit higher rpms close to his home, so warming it up is a good idea. He could of course go on a short street drive to warm up quicker instead of it sitting on his driveway, but like you said, it probably doesn't really matter.
As a car fan and amateur driver as well as trackdays enthusiast (have 4 cars; one for trackdays only) I can agree with everything that you said. I'm about to buy my first Porsche but I was tempted by a Ferrari F430 (I love that exact model specifically). I'm just 35 and had my first kid recently which has showed me that a 2 seat car its not for me now. I also know of this things said in the video so I decided to go for a 911: I can put my kid there, and its a very good daily driver for some days (usually I drive a sedan). As I said I already know of those things about the Ferrari (have some friends with one) but not everyone knows so I think this a very informative video. Also very nice ;)

At 11:26 it sounds like he *EXCEEDS 100mph/160kmh* as he upshifts near the redline from what is probably 3rd to 4th. The Ferarri 360 third gear will max-out at around 100mph/160kmh, so if he was flat-out flooring it and needed to upshift to 4th gear then he was moving in triple-digit speeds. He opens it up a second time at 11:49 and reaches around the same speed. The car sounds absolutely brilliant!
What sucks about cameras sometimes is that it looks like he's barely moving even though you can easily tell from the engine noise that he's cooking pretty good. There's just something about seat-of-the-pants feel that doesn't translate well to video.

I couldnt agree more. My special car is an old 70s BMW. Before, I used to take it out every other day. I drove it so often that I started neglecting it. Started collecting trash in it, forgot to care for it properly and just got used to it to the point that the car didn't feel special to me anymore. Now I only use it occasionally, mostly weekends or once monthly and the car is much more enjoyable to drive. Every trip in it is now special again. I look forward to it.
So unnecessary. You don't have to keep it on a battery charger. You also don't have to let it run for 20 minutes, 60s would be completely fine. Just don't give it full 100% throttle until the engine is warm. For hecks sake, it's still a car, just drive it
nallen100 You're just plain wrong. 30-60 seconds is all your car needs to circulate oil and run properly. Letting your car idle for that long actually increases the wear on your car. I challenge you to find me one article showing that you need to warm up a car for more than a minute. Go on, I'll wait.
nallen100 And I live in northern Canada, where I'm sure it is a hell of a lot colder than where you live. Your car will warm up faster if you drive it than if you idle it. I'm not saying you should drive it hard. 30-60 seconds for the oil to circulate and lubricate components completely, and you're set. No modern car will have issues with this. By letting your car idle to warm up, you're actually increasing the amount of time the engine runs at colder operating temperatures. Also, the transmission temperatures will only increase if you actually engage the transmission (i.e. DRIVING). My challenge still stands- find me one source than shows you need to warm a car up more than a minute or two. Just enough to get oil circulated. Every source I've looked up states to drive the car lightly to get it to operating temperatures. I may not be qualified for engineering or mechanics, but I do have a BSc majoring in Physics.
nallen100 it's obvious you didn't even read the article you just posted. Don't type things into Google Scholar and link them without reading. Please read it, and then understand it has no relevance at all to what we are talking about. We are NOT talking about cold start fuel efficiency, or engine efficiency / waste heat as a result of ambient air temperature differences. We are talking about driving after a period of about a minute until the car reaches operating temperature versus letting the car idle to operating temperature, in the interest of internal damage to an engine. I've said a couple times already that you should not drive the car hard until it has reached operating temperature. Why are you even arguing here? It is a waste of time and gas to let the car idle to operating temperature, and does more harm to your engine than good (oil-gasoline dilution, etc.). A modern engine would be better off idling for a minute or so and then driving lightly until higher engine temperatures are reached. Driving lightly will heat up the engine and it's fluids car faster than idling, this is a fact. What are you even arguing about?
nallen100 get off your fucking high horse. I never claimed to be an engineer, but what credentials do you have? Cold weather increase lubricant viscosity and increases bearing friction, increasing frictional losses inside your engine, making it less efficient. Cold start enrichment is not even relevant with modern ecus. You say 30% but yet in the article you posted, a difference between -1° and 31°C ambient air temps was an 18% increase in fuel consumption on cold start. That's 60% of what you stated multiple times. You DO want to warm your car up quickly, as letting the car warm up slowly can cause gasoline-oil dilution and seriously harm your engine. Just do a Google search for fucks sake. Look up "how long should I warm up my car".

This is an early 2000s supercar keep in mind. Supercars have come a long way in the last 15 years, in every conceivable aspect, including reliability and user friendliness. Not to mention that if you’re rich enough to buy a new supercar, the maintenance costs would be trivial. There were a bunch of rich Chinese students at my college who daily drove their lamborghinis and Aston Martins and treated them like any other car. Some of them were street parked the whole semester!
i had a Bentley and had similar problems, couldnt park it in the garage it was too longfor a start, when i took it out, i felt like a celebrity although i was not, it grew a crowd where i was parked, it was photographed , i was asked questions, on the plus side i was always offered best seats in a restaurant and even free drinks in a few, it did attract the police one pulled me over just to look over it not for isuing tickets but because of interest. YES I suppose that was a few reasons why you didnt drive it every day. The car liked being driven and was a pain when it was not though.... It was a pity i had to let it go as i moved and didnt have the space to park it but happy days....
The only "serious" issue is the oil temp but that's the case with most V engines since there are 2 blocks basically. It sounds to me that the car can be daily driven, of course not at the ease of a hatchback but it is a supercar, what are people expecting? And about driving everyday, if you drive it everyday you get to enjoy the small rides even more. There is nothing better after a busy day at work than taking a beautiful 360 spider and drive the long twisty road home.
I think you hit the nail on the head when you talked about enjoying the drive. When I was in my 20's I had a 1985 Fiat Bertone X1/9. I loved to just take it out for long drives on winding scenic roads where I live on the weekends. It was by no means a Ferrari but it was a great little Italian sports car and I miss her.
Parking a car like this is surprisingly the main issue - you literally can’t just leave it places you could a normal car, so you end up just saying f*** it and keep on driving (it’s so addictive anyway). Serious point: I don’t have any experience of this Ferrari but unless the manufacturer specifies, you shouldn’t warm up any car by leaving it idling - it wears the engine terribly because it is grinding cold for longer. It warms up far quicker if you drive it (gently), overall reducing engine wear.
Porsche has specified for over 30 years to turn the ignition, start the car and drive away, no warm-up. It was in the instruction manual of my 1984 928.

Hedi Benmbarek there are many logical reasons why it’s “only” $50k... one being maintenance. You’re going to be dropping atleast $15k annually assuming you drive it somewhat “often” as something tends to break every month. Once something big breaks that’s when that atleast $15k rises... which too is common if you just simply do some research. No one wants to own these because it’s a bitch to deal with considering how much you spend fixing it when you could’ve just opt for a better Ferrari at that point. As a result this car keeps dropping in value.. it’s not shocking it’s just common sense.
Really, plowing money into a car when your house has a broom closet for a gararge. You could bump out the garage door a couple of feet and get two cars in there.
I have a Maserati GT, it has 4.7 V8 engine made by Ferrari and the owners manual says the engine does not require lengthy warm up before driving, it recommends to just drive normally until the engine warms up, which takes much less time than the oil to also warm up to optimum.
Slow oil temp warm up is likely due to oil cooler thermostat being frozen open. At 70 degree ambient from cold start the oil temp in my 456 is off the peg within a mile of driving. It’s much better for the engine to drive it moderately until it warms up - less time running rich under “choke” conditions which tends to wash oil off the cylinder walls increasing wear.

You must understand the mind of the engineer. The small door with the keyhole is for human transit, the big door with the electric motor is for vehicle transit. You don't want to mix the buses and get it to malfunction.
That getting in and out of the car would annoy the hell out of me, the weird angle u have to slide yourself into the car's seat without scratching anything while u avoid the windshield hitting your face. It's like a whole body workout.

Agree. Same shit applies for driving a Porsche, except build quality is better. People harass you, police harass you, everybody gets tense. Speed bumps rips your front lip, and you have to wait ~15minutes for everything warm up before you can let the fun begin. Since I only have 10mins driving to work, I’m better off taking the ordinary car.
Very nice video! but why do you keep using the engine displacement as an excuse for the oil temp from getting up to normal range? It’s only a 3.6L v8 i have had a car with a 5.0L v8 and even a 6.7 diesel v8 that both warm up in around 2-4 minutes.

As Ferrari owner I appreciate as many videos as possible. Having said that, why did you have to use the key to go in the side door of the garage when you had a garage door opener in your hand. Maybe there is something I am missing. I have a door to my garage from home (attached garage). I daily drive my F355. It is 1.75" lower than stock. I bought my house making sure I could fit up the driveway and in the garage with my cars. Warm up- my garage doesn't get below 45f. I start my car and let it idle for about 1 minute. Then pull out and drive through my neighborhood at low revs. Doors are large on 2 door cars, parking spaces are sometimes not wide. I don't go to those places. I use my trickle charger only if I park it and go out of town for a couple weeks. Otherwise, no reason. You are right, it is not discrete, pics at gas stations (and at 12 mpg, I go quite a bit). I have no hassles parking it. I don't mind people saying hello. If you don't like to talk to people all the time, get a miata. ;) I love driving my car to work (it isn't that far to be fair). It feels great to drive it. My other cars have flappy paddles but my F355 is a stick. Nice video but I disagree. You should drive a ferrari every day if you can. or as much as possible. Just for the sound. :)
I daily drive a fiesta eco boost its great, low fuel bills, easy on Mother Earth, convenient features, I'd gladly inconvenience myself and rid you of that nuisance 360 of yours.
you shouldn't have to throttle getting going (tons of hp), just idle while clutching, electronic controlled idle will reduce/prevent stall. on a hill, put your foot on the brake to hold, lift your foot off the clutch till you get friction in idle for hill hold, release brake pedal, slowly release clutch pedal on idle to get going.
Great video and similar to the reasons I sold my Ferrari in the US and bought a 911. Funnily enough I maybe moving to Spain and was thinking of buying another Ferrari as I thought I could use it more often.

Ship me your Farari and we can trade for my Pontiac Aztek. Oil temperature goes up quick within minutes, you can see up hills and down hills fine, you won't ever need snow tires because it's a Rally special addition AWD and it's well broken in at 201,000 miles and runs like new still. Plenty of cargo space too. You can even sleep in the back!!! Let's trade!!

I’ve always opted for either 308GT4 or a Mondial 2+2 models. These can carry small children if need be. Both seem to go over speed humps a bit better albeit slowly. You are correct that parking is dire. Where I park I have to reverse in, no problem, but on leaving the space, driving forwards out means turning right and the lock is insufficient so it becomes a nightmare to escape the space!! Your warm up procedure is a bit iffy. I would let it tick over for a minute then drive away, 35 miles later the oil temperature is ok. The car will not be over-heating & you have an enjoyable early morning drive somewhere! But I 100% agree that trying to use it to go to work in is useless! You are correct that a Ferrari is a Special occasion car but I’d go further & say that it’s vital to know where it will be parked when you go somewhere, so its safe from damage or theft. In other words it’s a worry!!! The result can be going on an interesting drive & then parking it back at home!! We are discussing narrow bodied early cars, the whole ownership experience can be worse on the modern wider & longer models, on where to park or finding wide driving roads! No narrow country lanes. Maybe this is why there are so many low-mileage Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, etc supercars! We need handy small, narrow cars with good turning circles & easy to see out of & to park! Maybe the Fiat 595 Abarth!!
Well there are people who likes driving nice/super car on the weekend, this video is only to show some reasons why u don't want to drive it everyday, some due to the car and some due to his situations. I race my mx5 and corvette but I wouldn't want to drive them daily.
It's California. The only diehard Supercar fans are those who can't afford them. 99.9% of owners in CA (and elsewhere most likely) only know how to put gas in them. I worked in the entertainment industry (film/TV production) in Hollywood for almost 20 years. All but a few owners of Supercars I spoke with ever drove their cars "purposefully." When I asked them why, their answer was almost always the same: "I'm scared." I had a friend who owned a Ferrari 365GT Spyder. I told him I would be more than happy to drive it for him to do a "proper tuneup." I raced sprint karts growing up and was taught how to drive (manual transmission) by a friend of my father who raced sports cars in the 50's (Austin Healeys, Jaguars, Listers, MG's, etc.) at Pebble Beach, Daytona, etc. My friend picked me up and I drove us up PCH from Sunset Blvd. to Santa Barbara. Top speed was about 130mph and my friend couldn't even get out of the car when we reached Lompoc (he was shaking so much). The next time he took his car in for maintenance, his Italian mechanic said: "I see you have been driving your car the way it was intended to be driven. A Ferrari is like a beautiful woman - you must treat her tenderly, but sometimes you must be firm with her. This is what love is all about." So after that encounter with his mechanic, I had been instantly validated. And so for the next several years my friend would call me at least once a month and tell me: "It's time for a tune-up." Here in the states, parking spaces are relatively huge in a lot of places to accommodate the massive SUVs and trucks that are popular here. Likewise with garages. Speed bumps are pretty awful though if you drive a low car, and a lot of parking lot and driveway entrances are too damn steep, again, because trucks.
Driving an exotic vehicle everyday is a pain and I can actually relate to a lot of the points you have with parking, getting out, speed bumps, warm up, attraction, noise, racing, etc. Great video and beautiful car and scenery.
Nice video, informative and honest. I live in Jerez and we had a 360 which was seen almost daily a few years back (not seen it in recent years) but I think it all depends on how much you care for your Ferrari. You clearly take care about warming it up correctly but not everyone does this, and then of course they start getting reliability issues (maybe that's why the 360 is no longer around). So yeah, all depends on how you treat your Ferrari and how far you're willing to ignore correct use. And then there's the parking but I guess if your A to B commute has ample room at both destinations, you're ok in that respect. I used to work in the City and would see a 550 drive past every day but the City is weird like that...

You would eliminate the oil @ operating temp issue by staying in the car, feathering the throttle at least 1k rpm above idle at cold start, incrementally increasing the rpm to 3.5k-4k as the engine temp quickly rises after about 2 mins. to around 120F. By doing a static cold start idle, you're preventing oil circulating properly from the sump. What you're showing everyone, is how to create a multitude of future issues on an already temperamental car - including pre-mature wear and scoring of pistons, carbon build-up on the valves, intakes, glazing the plugs... and the list goes on. "Expensive smell" of the clutch being over-heated and damaged on a hill - dude... it's a dual-viscous semi-auto hydraulic clutch! Double tap the paddles fore and aft to neutral, firmly depress the brake pedal, double your rpm from idle, tap right paddle to 1st, release foot completely off brake pedal in one deliberate movement. Parking issues? Only if you elect to park five inches from the side of an SUV. So why are there so many low-mileage Ferraris' with (hidden) mechanical issues for sale "on the cheap" at $120K-$180K? Two reasons: 1. poser$ and/or trust babie$ who fail to take the time to understand how their toys work 2. Ferrari's inherently poor build out and quality control standards. Okay, rant over. LoL
As far as I know, it's a single-clutch manual transmission that's essentially identical to the basic transmission internally. It just has hydraulically-actuated, automated clutch and shift levers. And probably automated throttle reduction for shift-without-lift upshifts, though I haven't driven one to be sure. Sounds like it definitely has automatic throttle blips for downshifts.
Driving a Ferrari every day is a hassle for me too. It means installing Logitech G29 steering wheel on my table.

Friend of mine has one a took me for a quite a long drive mainly through a city.
The attention you get was a little intimidating at busy streets.
Driving through tunnels was amazing fun. Seeing your reflection in the shop window amazing.

Buy cars, pay them off, trade them up for the next level of car, pay it off... eventually you'll always have a high end car for a low end payment if you do it smart, invest, wait until you're 50-60... prioritize the car over the house or wife or whatever. Bam, there you go. Easy!

My father is a mechanical engineer and yes, we must heat up the engine first for at least 2-5 minutes, did you know about fuel injection in car? I know for some people logic they say that doing as what you say will save the gasoline while it can be true but it will interrupted your engine, easier to say, if one didn't heat up the car and doesn't let the fuel injected in the engine, the engine will suddenly stop after you turn it on which then caused the engine survivability hold for only a few weeks or month after warranty expired. I'm not a specialist as my father is but he kinda taught me that it is important to heat up the engine first before driving it. And he'd get mad if i didn't heat up the car and drive because a lot of money will fly if we care more about gasoline than the car engine.
If you're using that car daily then it is okay, but as for this guy who's riding ferrari once in a while, a warm up important. It's like human too, we must warm up first before doing things, then start jogging slowly after a warm up. You can't just "oh boy, let's run as fuq boi to warm my body up" then u got cramped. I owned a 2004 360 F1 for two years and I loved it!
1. Your clutch is slipping too much in first gear. Adjustment needed (I live on a hill and didn't have that problem).
2. Instead of letting it idle, just take it easy for the first few miles.
3. You are like me, I kept it for special occasions, made driving it something to look forward to, an event.
Of course I wouldn't daily drive my Ferrari. I'd have 17 other cars to choose from.
In America you can buy a 360 in need of repair for 30k usd. There are TH-cam guys who have bought auction ferraris...if you are mechanically minded and diligent a working stiff could make it a reality without being rich. Insurance wise get collector car insurance and keep your mileage down...it is doable.

The parts are expensive and they are complex and beyond most people's mechanical ability to fix by themselves, especially when electrical issues strike which is a common problem with them.
Daily drive my F12, leave it out side, battery is fine, bag on passenger seat, just drive of steady until engine is warm, know where I am parking before I set off, ignore everyone around me, for everything else I take the Toyota pickup.... just love using the ferrari though like to think I know the car inside out in all weather conditions. I am surprised as an engineer you are not aware that it is better to warm the engine by driving the car gently rather than letting it idle...
When I leave my house I have to join a dual carriageway from a standstill. It needs plenty of revs to get up to speed so it's best to warm the engine a little instead of doing that with a cold engine.

I read it in a F430 manual that you should wait until a certain oil temp before you go to a certain rev range. Sounds like he needs to hit higher rpms close to his home, so warming it up is a good idea. He could of course go on a short street drive to warm up quicker instead of it sitting on his driveway, but like you said, it probably doesn't really matter.

As a car fan and amateur driver as well as trackdays enthusiast (have 4 cars; one for trackdays only) I can agree with everything that you said. I'm about to buy my first Porsche but I was tempted by a Ferrari F430 (I love that exact model specifically). I'm just 35 and had my first kid recently which has showed me that a 2 seat car its not for me now. I also know of this things said in the video so I decided to go for a 911: I can put my kid there, and its a very good daily driver for some days (usually I drive a sedan).
As I said I already know of those things about the Ferrari (have some friends with one) but not everyone knows so I think this a very informative video.

At 11:26 it sounds like he *EXCEEDS 100mph/160kmh* as he upshifts near the redline from what is probably 3rd to 4th. The Ferarri 360 third gear will max-out at around 100mph/160kmh, so if he was flat-out flooring it and needed to upshift to 4th gear then he was moving in triple-digit speeds. He opens it up a second time at 11:49 and reaches around the same speed. The car sounds absolutely brilliant!
What sucks about cameras sometimes is that it looks like he's barely moving even though you can easily tell from the engine noise that he's cooking pretty good. There's just something about seat-of-the-pants feel that doesn't translate well to video.

I couldnt agree more. My special car is an old 70s BMW. Before, I used to take it out every other day. I drove it so often that I started neglecting it. Started collecting trash in it, forgot to care for it properly and just got used to it to the point that the car didn't feel special to me anymore. Now I only use it occasionally, mostly weekends or once monthly and the car is much more enjoyable to drive. Every trip in it is now special again. I look forward to it.
So unnecessary. You don't have to keep it on a battery charger. You also don't have to let it run for 20 minutes, 60s would be completely fine. Just don't give it full 100% throttle until the engine is warm.

I challenge you to find me one article showing that you need to warm up a car for more than a minute. Go on, I'll wait.

Your car will warm up faster if you drive it than if you idle it. I'm not saying you should drive it hard. 30-60 seconds for the oil to circulate and lubricate components completely, and you're set. No modern car will have issues with this.
By letting your car idle to warm up, you're actually increasing the amount of time the engine runs at colder operating temperatures. Also, the transmission temperatures will only increase if you actually engage the transmission (i.e. DRIVING).
My challenge still stands- find me one source than shows you need to warm a car up more than a minute or two. Just enough to get oil circulated. Every source I've looked up states to drive the car lightly to get it to operating temperatures.
I may not be qualified for engineering or mechanics, but I do have a BSc majoring in Physics.

We are NOT talking about cold start fuel efficiency, or engine efficiency / waste heat as a result of ambient air temperature differences.
We are talking about driving after a period of about a minute until the car reaches operating temperature versus letting the car idle to operating temperature, in the interest of internal damage to an engine.
I've said a couple times already that you should not drive the car hard until it has reached operating temperature.
Why are you even arguing here? It is a waste of time and gas to let the car idle to operating temperature, and does more harm to your engine than good (oil-gasoline dilution, etc.). A modern engine would be better off idling for a minute or so and then driving lightly until higher engine temperatures are reached.
Driving lightly will heat up the engine and it's fluids car faster than idling, this is a fact.

Cold weather increase lubricant viscosity and increases bearing friction, increasing frictional losses inside your engine, making it less efficient. Cold start enrichment is not even relevant with modern ecus. You say 30% but yet in the article you posted, a difference between -1° and 31°C ambient air temps was an 18% increase in fuel consumption on cold start. That's 60% of what you stated multiple times.
You DO want to warm your car up quickly, as letting the car warm up slowly can cause gasoline-oil dilution and seriously harm your engine.
Just do a Google search for fucks sake. Look up "how long should I warm up my car".

This is an early 2000s supercar keep in mind. Supercars have come a long way in the last 15 years, in every conceivable aspect, including reliability and user friendliness. Not to mention that if you’re rich enough to buy a new supercar, the maintenance costs would be trivial. There were a bunch of rich Chinese students at my college who daily drove their lamborghinis and Aston Martins and treated them like any other car. Some of them were street parked the whole semester!
i had a Bentley and had similar problems, couldnt park it in the garage it was too longfor a start, when i took it out, i felt like a celebrity although i was not, it grew a crowd where i was parked, it was photographed , i was asked questions, on the plus side i was always offered best seats in a restaurant and even free drinks in a few, it did attract the police one pulled me over just to look over it not for isuing tickets but because of interest.
YES I suppose that was a few reasons why you didnt drive it every day. The car liked being driven and was a pain when it was not though.... It was a pity i had to let it go as i moved and didnt have the space to park it but happy days....
The only "serious" issue is the oil temp but that's the case with most V engines since there are 2 blocks basically.
It sounds to me that the car can be daily driven, of course not at the ease of a hatchback but it is a supercar, what are people expecting?
And about driving everyday, if you drive it everyday you get to enjoy the small rides even more. There is nothing better after a busy day at work than taking a beautiful 360 spider and drive the long twisty road home.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you talked about enjoying the drive. When I was in my 20's I had a 1985 Fiat Bertone X1/9. I loved to just take it out for long drives on winding scenic roads where I live on the weekends. It was by no means a Ferrari but it was a great little Italian sports car and I miss her.

Parking a car like this is surprisingly the main issue - you literally can’t just leave it places you could a normal car, so you end up just saying f*** it and keep on driving (it’s so addictive anyway).
Serious point: I don’t have any experience of this Ferrari but unless the manufacturer specifies, you shouldn’t warm up any car by leaving it idling - it wears the engine terribly because it is grinding cold for longer. It warms up far quicker if you drive it (gently), overall reducing engine wear.

Porsche has specified for over 30 years to turn the ignition, start the car and drive away, no warm-up. It was in the instruction manual of my 1984 928.

Hedi Benmbarek there are many logical reasons why it’s “only” $50k... one being maintenance. You’re going to be dropping atleast $15k annually assuming you drive it somewhat “often” as something tends to break every month. Once something big breaks that’s when that atleast $15k rises... which too is common if you just simply do some research. No one wants to own these because it’s a bitch to deal with considering how much you spend fixing it when you could’ve just opt for a better Ferrari at that point. As a result this car keeps dropping in value.. it’s not shocking it’s just common sense.
Really, plowing money into a car when your house has a broom closet for a gararge. You could bump out the garage door a couple of feet and get two cars in there.

I have a Maserati GT, it has 4.7 V8 engine made by Ferrari and the owners manual says the engine does not require lengthy warm up before driving, it recommends to just drive normally until the engine warms up, which takes much less time than the oil to also warm up to optimum.

Slow oil temp warm up is likely due to oil cooler thermostat being frozen open. At 70 degree ambient from cold start the oil temp in my 456 is off the peg within a mile of driving. It’s much better for the engine to drive it moderately until it warms up - less time running rich under “choke” conditions which tends to wash oil off the cylinder walls increasing wear.
tip if you want to warm your oil up faster
just have it in neutral and hold the RPM around 2000-2500
its most faster if you hold the rpm around 7000-8000
@@dare60000 wouldn't recommend revving at 7000 on a cold start. its a good way to ware out your internals unless you have very low tolerances.

Agree. Same shit applies for driving a Porsche, except build quality is better. People harass you, police harass you, everybody gets tense. Speed bumps rips your front lip, and you have to wait ~15minutes for everything warm up before you can let the fun begin. Since I only have 10mins driving to work, I’m better off taking the ordinary car.

Very nice video! but why do you keep using the engine displacement as an excuse for the oil temp from getting up to normal range? It’s only a 3.6L v8 i have had a car with a 5.0L v8 and even a 6.7 diesel v8 that both warm up in around 2-4 minutes.

As Ferrari owner I appreciate as many videos as possible. Having said that, why did you have to use the key to go in the side door of the garage when you had a garage door opener in your hand. Maybe there is something I am missing.
I have a door to my garage from home (attached garage). I daily drive my F355. It is 1.75" lower than stock. I bought my house making sure I could fit up the driveway and in the garage with my cars.
Warm up- my garage doesn't get below 45f. I start my car and let it idle for about 1 minute. Then pull out and drive through my neighborhood at low revs.
Doors are large on 2 door cars, parking spaces are sometimes not wide. I don't go to those places.
I use my trickle charger only if I park it and go out of town for a couple weeks. Otherwise, no reason.
You are right, it is not discrete, pics at gas stations (and at 12 mpg, I go quite a bit).
I have no hassles parking it. I don't mind people saying hello. If you don't like to talk to people all the time, get a miata. ;)
I love driving my car to work (it isn't that far to be fair). It feels great to drive it. My other cars have flappy paddles but my F355 is a stick.

I daily drive a fiesta eco boost its great, low fuel bills, easy on Mother Earth, convenient features, I'd gladly inconvenience myself and rid you of that nuisance 360 of yours.
you shouldn't have to throttle getting going (tons of hp), just idle while clutching, electronic controlled idle will reduce/prevent stall. on a hill, put your foot on the brake to hold, lift your foot off the clutch till you get friction in idle for hill hold, release brake pedal, slowly release clutch pedal on idle to get going.
Great video and similar to the reasons I sold my Ferrari in the US and bought a 911. Funnily enough I maybe moving to Spain and was thinking of buying another Ferrari as I thought I could use it more often.

The “please don’t race me!” Brought back a memory 😂 I wanted to race a Chevy SS cause he was picking up speed so I caught up and fucker swerved into my lane. So I thought okay I guess he doesn’t want to race. Got to a stop light and the man started yelling at me saying why does everyone want to race me, I’m just trying to have a peaceful drive!

Oil temperature goes up quick within minutes, you can see up hills and down hills fine, you won't ever need snow tires because it's a Rally special addition AWD and it's well broken in at 201,000 miles and runs like new still. Plenty of cargo space too. You can even sleep in the back!!! Let's trade!!

I’ve always opted for either 308GT4 or a Mondial 2+2 models. These can carry small children if need be. Both seem to go over speed humps a bit better albeit slowly. You are correct that parking is dire. Where I park I have to reverse in, no problem, but on leaving the space, driving forwards out means turning right and the lock is insufficient so it becomes a nightmare to escape the space!!
Your warm up procedure is a bit iffy. I would let it tick over for a minute then drive away, 35 miles later the oil temperature is ok. The car will not be over-heating & you have an enjoyable early morning drive somewhere! But I 100% agree that trying to use it to go to work in is useless! You are correct that a Ferrari is a Special occasion car but I’d go further & say that it’s vital to know where it will be parked when you go somewhere, so its safe from damage or theft. In other words it’s a worry!!! The result can be going on an interesting drive & then parking it back at home!! We are discussing narrow bodied early cars, the whole ownership experience can be worse on the modern wider & longer models, on where to park or finding wide driving roads! No narrow country lanes. Maybe this is why there are so many low-mileage Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, etc supercars! We need handy small, narrow cars with good turning circles & easy to see out of & to park! Maybe the Fiat 595 Abarth!!

99.9% of owners in CA (and elsewhere most likely) only know how to put gas in them.
I worked in the entertainment industry (film/TV production) in Hollywood for almost 20 years.
All but a few owners of Supercars I spoke with ever drove their cars "purposefully."
When I asked them why, their answer was almost always the same:
"I'm scared."
I had a friend who owned a Ferrari 365GT Spyder.
I told him I would be more than happy to drive it for him to do a "proper tuneup."
I raced sprint karts growing up and was taught how to drive (manual transmission) by a friend of my father who raced sports cars in the 50's (Austin Healeys, Jaguars, Listers, MG's, etc.) at Pebble Beach, Daytona, etc.
My friend picked me up and I drove us up PCH from Sunset Blvd. to Santa Barbara.
Top speed was about 130mph and my friend couldn't even get out of the car when we reached Lompoc (he was shaking so much).
The next time he took his car in for maintenance, his Italian mechanic said:
"I see you have been driving your car the way it was intended to be driven.
A Ferrari is like a beautiful woman - you must treat her tenderly, but sometimes you must be firm with her.
This is what love is all about."
So after that encounter with his mechanic, I had been instantly validated.
And so for the next several years my friend would call me at least once a month and tell me:
"It's time for a tune-up."
I miss that car.

Here in the states, parking spaces are relatively huge in a lot of places to accommodate the massive SUVs and trucks that are popular here. Likewise with garages. Speed bumps are pretty awful though if you drive a low car, and a lot of parking lot and driveway entrances are too damn steep, again, because trucks.

Driving an exotic vehicle everyday is a pain and I can actually relate to a lot of the points you have with parking, getting out, speed bumps, warm up, attraction, noise, racing, etc. Great video and beautiful car and scenery.

Nice video, informative and honest. I live in Jerez and we had a 360 which was seen almost daily a few years back (not seen it in recent years) but I think it all depends on how much you care for your Ferrari. You clearly take care about warming it up correctly but not everyone does this, and then of course they start getting reliability issues (maybe that's why the 360 is no longer around). So yeah, all depends on how you treat your Ferrari and how far you're willing to ignore correct use. And then there's the parking but I guess if your A to B commute has ample room at both destinations, you're ok in that respect. I used to work in the City and would see a 550 drive past every day but the City is weird like that...

You would eliminate the oil @ operating temp issue by staying in the car, feathering the throttle at least 1k rpm above idle at cold start, incrementally increasing the rpm to 3.5k-4k as the engine temp quickly rises after about 2 mins. to around 120F. By doing a static cold start idle, you're preventing oil circulating properly from the sump. What you're showing everyone, is how to create a multitude of future issues on an already temperamental car - including pre-mature wear and scoring of pistons, carbon build-up on the valves, intakes, glazing the plugs... and the list goes on. "Expensive smell" of the clutch being over-heated and damaged on a hill - dude... it's a dual-viscous semi-auto hydraulic clutch! Double tap the paddles fore and aft to neutral, firmly depress the brake pedal, double your rpm from idle, tap right paddle to 1st, release foot completely off brake pedal in one deliberate movement.
Parking issues? Only if you elect to park five inches from the side of an SUV. So why are there so many low-mileage Ferraris' with (hidden) mechanical issues for sale "on the cheap" at $120K-$180K? Two reasons: 1. poser$ and/or trust babie$ who fail to take the time to understand how their toys work 2. Ferrari's inherently poor build out and quality control standards. Okay, rant over. LoL
As far as I know, it's a single-clutch manual transmission that's essentially identical to the basic transmission internally. It just has hydraulically-actuated, automated clutch and shift levers. And probably automated throttle reduction for shift-without-lift upshifts, though I haven't driven one to be sure. Sounds like it definitely has automatic throttle blips for downshifts.
