The reason why they ended the Like a Rock ad campaigns was because after gm was reborn, they changed advertising companies and left Campbell Ewald who pioneered the Like a Rock ad campaign all those years, They did this as part of the rebirth of the GM brand and Chevy. Times changed and so has the Chevy truck ads. The Like a Rock ad campaign was a long and successful one perhaps most known of all.
I also heard that Bob Seger said they could keep using the song so long as they kept a factory somewhere in Michigan but GM closed it and that was the end of it.
McGill Woodward this is because after the birth of the new GM brand they changed ad agencies and left the Campbell Ewald agency that created the Like a Rock ads and branding after a good 20 year stint. They new ad agency changed the branding to Find New Roads and the real people not actors ads

I always bough GM's, 72,77,87,88,91,98,03 and 2013. Pretty much all of them rusted out but I got over 500,000km out of all of them. Except the 88 and 13.
Everytime i hear this song whether it be a restaurant, grocery store or on the radio i immediately think of all the chevy commercials over the years. Love it
My dad bought a 91 k2500 light duty 3/4 ton new. I was staying with my grandma for the summer while we were PCSing stateside from Germany. When he pulled down that dirt road to grandmas house, it was the most beautiful damn truck you have ever seen. Dark Grey with Black down the middle 2 tone with orangish red and silver stripe dividing the colors. My mom was pissed because he didn’t get the extended cab. (Family of 4) he maintains that they were sold out of extended cabs but I’ll bet dollars to donuts he wanted that color. Unfortunately the Kansas winters rusted it away. I’d love to find one that color I never see them. I’ll never forget how pretty it was. And I’ll never forget sneaking out with it in high school. Instant torque from tbi 350.

I just purchased my first GMC last month. A 1998 2500 5.7 8V sierra with camper top! 160,000 miles For $1700 off Craigslist the previous owner had sat her for a very long time. Had to throw in an alternator, radiator, fuel pump but now this thing is a beast. All in $3000
02 Silverado in the drive-way my grandfather ordered brand new in 01 and used on the farm till the day he died. 413k miles on it and dad still drives it to work every single day. 13 Sierra with 305k miles on it that im driving to work everyday. Besides basic routine maintenance, all I have done is replaced 2 sets of wheel hubs and installed an AFM disabler.
What I remember from these commercials was that the whole country was happy at least much happier than most are today. Life was easier and definitely more affordable.
When I grow up, I want to be a Chevy truck driver.

The 82 to 97 Chevy trucks are my two favorite bodylines to own. Loved these commercials growing up. Miss the good ole days.
Rob Gomez that's two separate generations of truck completely different appearance and frames
Trevor Scott Yes I know.
Trevor Scott No shit smartass
those trucks were so ugly...
+RockandRoll disagree completely.
Back then it was who made a tougher truck now it's who can use more plastic to get 1 mile per gallon more
Ethan Cummings thank the democrats
art vandelay Lol thats pretty racist but guess that's the YT life.
thank the democrats because of the unions. GM has to pay all their employees equally so they have to cut costs on what they build so they can afford it. And they add a bunch of useless tech to jack up the price smh
Actually its not because of "peoples obsession with fuel economy" its because of something called CAFE regulations which say that manufacturers have to get a certain amount of fuel economy at all costs
el Diablo Blanco45 Look Up how much the CEO makes, then tell me if it’s the unions fault!!!
This makes me want to go for a nice Sunday cruise in my Silverado 😎
I grew up in the 90s and I remember in-between episodes of the dukes of hazzard one of these Chevy commercials would come on and I'd think man that's so cool! fast forward to 2021 I'm now 27 with a 88 step side I lucked up and got loading this beast down with everything I can throw at this 33 year old truck and it doesn't miss a beat. everytime I get behind this wheel "like a rock' goes off in my head and I think back to those days you don't get that with a foreign truck
Got a 1997 GMC Sierra 1500 255,000 miles and still running strong!
jarred marion cool
I have a 98 dodge ram 1500 with 270k miles 😎
Have a 90 GMC Sierra regular cab 4x4 and 89 GMC Sierra regular cab 4x4 both swb 1500... , Still running good and strong. Families bought them brand new back in 1989, 90.
Fox-E (Bonzai) And?
Got a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 with 286k
I like the old commercials back when chevy made real tough bad a$$ trucks!
And ford
Leon Flames no unreliable most time in dealer than in your garage not good
lone wolf like trump
The new camaro and the blazer look like shit with the grill
I grew up in a Chevy. Met my wife who had a Chevy. We both now have Chevy. Good times and bad I love my Chevys. Awesome commercials. Brings me back to simpler times
Were you homeless?
"Like a rock. OOoHhhh Like a RocK!"
Random memories from my childhood brought me here. I miss the 90s and early 00's.
Literally all week had this song in my head for no reason... just popped up in my weird head lol... finally came to TH-cam for satisfaction.
I’m a Ford guy and even I love these commercials.
HA
John Jones you vote trump sir
Chevy need to bring this back
i have the truck in the 1995 part of video but transmission burt out . one year later we finally found the right one
mikeandmars2345 Chevy Ford should make throw back pickups with no nonsense that are put in todays pickups for people who just want a truck and bring back the Ford ranchero and Chevy el camino if they want a luxury truck.
Argreed
Be careful what you ask for they will make a techno remix for 2018 commercials
@@marcostrinidad843 what did you get for it? Its the same way with my 98 dodge gsn 1500. They put shit transmissions in them
My uncle bought his 95 Silverado about 15 years ago... 10 years later sold it! Bought an 03 4 years later he passed away! That truck is now mine! I still see his ole 95 on the road today! Hell my father bought his Chevy in 2000 still in the road today!
Rest in peace
I always used sing this when i was learning how to speak as a toddler. MICHEAL ROCK
Always loved the 01 hds since I was a kid one of the best front ends ever made!
I remember staring at 99s in the brochure thinking they were the sharpest truck ever. Time goes so fast.
The Like a Rock ad campaign was a long and successful one perhaps most known of all.
gunnlover
I also heard that Bob Seger said they could keep using the song so long as they kept a factory somewhere in Michigan but GM closed it and that was the end of it.
@@QuinnDickinson2610 They still have factories in MI though
@@QuinnDickinson2610 Just announced today, in fact. They are investing $150 million into their Flint, MI Truck Plant
Thanks bro now I know.
Love these commercials so much better than the modern real people not actors shit check pulls now.
McGill Woodward this is because after the birth of the new GM brand they changed ad agencies and left the Campbell Ewald agency that created the Like a Rock ads and branding after a good 20 year stint. They new ad agency changed the branding to Find New Roads and the real people not actors ads
Yeah these new commircals make me sick
“Safety shouldn’t be an option”
That has changed over the years with all car brands period
Just randomly thought of this song and commercial. So cool to see a compilation of it. This song was so cool and memorable
Got me a 1999 Silverado Z71 1500 my dad gave me when when I graduated high school in 2006. Still running like a rock 213,000 miles later. Rocker panels and cab corners kicked rocks a long time ago lol still my favorite vehicle to get behind the wheel of.
I loved my little 92 4 door S10. Great little suv. My 96 C1500 work truck gave me a solid 10 years. I got rid of both long ago, but I still see them on the road! S10 still looks amazing.
Mike Zelesnik I got a s10 Blazer, 1991 with the 4.3. Awesome little suv hopefully soon I’m going to get a 2.5 inch rough country lift and some 31 inch tires.
0:28 lol I love how the previous scenes were people doing work and putting their trucks to good use, than there’s this guy just going dukes of hazard in a field
You know, i kept thinking will they ever stop with the like a rock thing, but when they did the trucks just got shittier. Oh well right
I just got a 97' short bed 5 speed manual with rear airbags and a leather interior that im gonna restore with my dad this summer. And these commercials only excite me more. And the ads weren't wrong, the only part of the truck that has bad rust is the bed which we'll fix the right way.
That was amazing to see my goodness time has passed the good old day's #90's
These are the commercials I grew up on as a kid. Thank you for putting this compilation together.
We've had our 2001 Silverado 1500 since 2010 at 166k and still running just as good to this day at 263k. The Silverado is definitely built like a rock!. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
My 98 ram 1500 has 270K milles
No Matter what year model
My favorite part was when the guy said "Like a rock"
you mean like "sit in a yard and do nothing rock?"
I've owned a Chevy Silverado since 2003, and it's still running strong and rust free.. Like a Rock!!
I have a 2009 LT Crew Cab with the 5.3, it was my dad's. 380 000 km's and still going strong, it doesn't miss a beat! He recently purchased a new Sierra and thats been a very dependable truck he's already done numerous road trips in it with no issues whatsoever. My family loves a GM truck!
3:41 lmao... "Because the last thing we wanna do, is spill this guy's coffee." haha
If Chevy made commercials like these again, it would be awesome.
If Chevy still made trucks like Bob Seger was backing their trucks with his songs, it'd be awesome.
@chevrolet bring commercials like these back. NOT the crappy ones you have now. God I miss those.
My first vehicle was an 83 firebird. 2nd vehicle was a 1991 chevy truck. Now 2020 my truck still runs strong at my ranch. I love that truck
I can't believe how many of these 90s suburbans/Tahoes and silverados I still see on the road everyday...my favorite vehicle of all time. About 3 years ago my cousin bought a beat up 92 k5 blazer with 320,000 miles, original engine and transmission. Started up clean every time.. even the air still worked. They truly are like a rock.
Things were much simpler back then
It's all relative. Things are simpler now in some ways.
I always bough GM's, 72,77,87,88,91,98,03 and 2013. Pretty much all of them rusted out but I got over 500,000km out of all of them. Except the 88 and 13.
Gem-Tar Construction Ft. Randy Bobandy trump pence
Time flies by I tell ya. I remember these commercials like it was yesterday.
Everytime i hear this song whether it be a restaurant, grocery store or on the radio i immediately think of all the chevy commercials over the years. Love it
Right!!???? Like it's impossible to hear this song and not think of all of the Goosebump inducing commercials that featured it!!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Man i remember watching all these commercials growing up. Best song ever for a truck. Sad chevy changed it
When I have access to a time machine, I want to go back in time and drive a 1991 Chevrolet Silverado.
Well you can still find good 91 chevy trucks on the internet
Dude, you don’t need a time machine. I know of a few still running 😁
Farming Fishing Family Ontario what about a 1970 Dodge Challenger you could be dodge material
1994 Z71 K1500 Silverado, 207K miles, original transmission, original engine, still going strong.
lmao mad much? Your probably thinking of 95 when they had the single year transmission, or the 96 when they switched to the Vortec engines that liked to crack heads.
I write this as my od is now at 220K and still no problems. Stay wrong and salty you dumb boomer
John Wymer haters gonna hate. Stick to your pos fords.
That’s cute my 95 f150 4x4 has 321k and runs like a champ 😂
@John Wymer Bullshit, 94 Silverado 300k, original engine and transmission with 300k still going strong today, you really have no idea what you are talking about.
I've have my 96 Chevy k1500 for 4 years now and it's still dependable even with almost 260,000 miles on it
Was in the garage the other day and the radio played bob segars like a rock, I wanted to go buy a Chevy right then.
One of the sounds of my childhood.
Definitely love those 2014 models. They had it perfect. Looked almost just like an old squarebody. Then they kinda mesed up the front clip in 2016 but still wasn't too bad. But now in 2019 the Silverado has totally gone to hell.
Hell yeah to the Silverado legacy! Raise a glass men! 🍻🍻
Vincent Forsberg trump 2020
Vincent Forsberg trump 2020
Amen brother. Bowtie brigade
If Chevrolet made an hour long feature film with their trucks ripping through mud, over jumps and doing work while playing Like A Rock and that voice saying how fantastic they are, I'd pay money to watch it in the theatre.
I remember when I was a kid and these commercials came on and I will return the TV over real loud I like those songs😂😂😂😂
GM needs to keep this going!!!! When I see a Chevrolet on the road I hear this song in my head!!! Best slogan ever for a vehicle!!!!
Love the vids, I remember these from when I was a kid even back then all I wanted was a new Silverado, finally bought one in 2015 loved every mile so far
The Heartbeat of America is Winning!

I just purchased my first GMC last month. A 1998 2500 5.7 8V sierra with camper top! 160,000 miles For $1700 off Craigslist the previous owner had sat her for a very long time. Had to throw in an alternator, radiator, fuel pump but now this thing is a beast. All in $3000
This makes me miss my childhood growing up in the early 90s😢
Like a rock baby. Chevy owner for life.
Same!
I LOVE IT!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!! That commercial still works!!!!! I remember it in 2020.
Loved this thank you!!!!!!!!!! I hope they bring it back and keep it going.
I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado with 315,031 miles on it and it is still running great "Like a Rock" - Brett Smith
Chevrolet needs to return their advertising to this! The is a reason why it lasted twenty years instead of what they are doing now.
Damn I know I’m getting old I can remember every 90s chevy commercial
I love it, especially the 01 HD, truck of the year, and the 96' first vortech.
I'm driving an old square body that is heading toward 300,000 miles and she has never let me down. It is truly a rock!!
I had to find this for my 1 year old because he was cracking up when I was singing it while playing his trucks lol
these commercials make me say, “look at chevy man, so inspirational.”
Grew up loving these commercials. Love Chevy Silverado. Brings a tear to my eye. Great video Hoss
It really does
My 96 Silverado is still going strong today with over 300 thousand miles on it
In 1995 my grandpa bought a brand new Chevy 1500 2wd W/T reg cab long bed with the 4.3l and it is still running strong 411,000 miles later.
What I remember from these commercials was that the whole country was happy at least much happier than most are today. Life was easier and definitely more affordable.
