      Thanks very much! The top kinda has a tint to it that might have exaggerated the colors of the clouds but we do get some amazing sunsets here. I did a compilation of a bunch of sunsets in one of my Samurai videos.

    Helpful tip...if you will put a little dab of grease or spray silicone on buttons/snaps keep them from rusting and sticking. Also spray ur zippers

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a really good idea. We dont get much rust here but I bet it would also keep them from breaking when taking them off. Sometimes I use the spray silicone on zippers. You know how most flashlights nowadays have metal threads on the end caps? I always put carmex or chapstic on the threads (I've done it on zippers for hunting jackets, makes em quieter and more waterproof). I tried everything on the zippers that wouldn't work on the original top, they were just bad, this new top worked perfectly, I was so relieved! Hey thanks for the tip!

    The car looks stunning!
    However, the left side of the soft top looks better than the right side, as if the right side should be reattached/stretched slightly different.

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hmmm, I didn't notice at the time but that might explain why there was more tension on one side when I added those velcro straps and sinched them down tight. Now that it's been in the sun for a few days I can prob release the tension and tighten it all back down evenly. I was trying to explain something to someone who commented about the front snaps so I'll prob show that part in a video so I'll try to correct what you noticed also. Good eye. 👍

  • @gregoriogutierrezcastro1994
    @gregoriogutierrezcastro1994 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The reason why you cannot close the two buttons on the left and right upper front part is because you are missing some kind of hinges (2) that are placed at the ends of the arch or rod and are screwed to the two black pieces that are on both sides of the body, that is what gives the correct tension to the soft top of your Suzuki.

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The new top and the old top both were the same with the distance between the buttons on the soft top vs where they are on the windshield frame. It's hard to explain but if I snap the front buttons in, the plastic strip is too far forward by about an inch. There's no tension whatsoever so it won't stay in the groove and that part doesn't have any stretch to it. When I installed the first top I snapped the buttons in first (It's an older video), and nothing in the rear wanted to line up correctly. The next day I unsnapped them and put the plastic strip in the track and then I was able to get the rear to line up and snap in. This new top is the same way. I'm honestly not even worried about the front buttons anymore. I was at first because I thought the top would fly off but I've had it past 60mph and it was ok, plus the top wraps around the roll bars above both doors and velcro's to itself, then the doors close against it so there's no way it could come off. It would be nice to get the buttons to line up but I don't think I can with this particular top. I'll try to show what I'm talking about in a video cuz its hard to explain it in words but it seems that regardless of the tension in the back with the placement of the buttons there's no way to get them snapped in and also have the plastic strip go into the groove correctly. Thank you for the comments 👍

    Hagerty sound like Shannon's which we have in Australia. Mostly people's vintage/veteran or speciality type vehicles, agreed values and decent premiums. The new canopy looks great btw, car looking so good now. I am still in holding pattern with mine. Most of the stuff I wanna do is ready to go but can't get anyone to start on the major body work/paint. Frustrating!

      I was gonna ask how she's coming along. Maybe fake an injury at work and take time off to do it yourself, then send them a link to your video and say "just joking" lol. Idk if it's at your house but maybe you could just do like 30 minutes a day, that would add up over time. Body work is kinda fun, the sanding gets boring but the other stuff is fun, and you can't really screw it up, just might need to do it a few times to get it how you want. I can't wait to see that thing all done up. Such an awesome body style, I love that front end!

      @@andrebaumbach9447 Yeah man I think you'll enjoy doing it. You could watch a bunch of videos first. I'm sure theres some actual professionals on TH-cam. I'm no pro but I've had good luck by always limiting how much filler I use. If it's more than 1/16" or so I always use short strand fiberglass (Bondoglass) first because it has fibers in it. I've not had any cracks when doing it that way. On my old work van when I got in an accident a chunk of bondo flew off the bumper. Frieken thing was like 3/4" thick and prob 4" wide. I never even knew it had bondo until that accident. So it does stick really well but the last thing you want is a crack after laying down a nice paint job. They do also make long strand fiberglass. I think Bondo claimed you could fill gaps of up to 1" with the long strand and 1/2" with the short strand. Ideally you can get the metal pretty close first and not have to worry about the Bondo Glass. Both body filler and bondo glass are very easy to use. They come with a tube of hardener and you just squirt out enough to make a line across your pile of schmutz. The more you add the less time you have before it hardens. I always buy an extra tube of hardener cuz I use alot.To mix it you're supposed to take your plastic card and kinda fold it in instead of mixing it, supposedly that introduces less air bubbles. A cheese grater speeds things up too. They're about 9" long and like 1.5" wide. It let's you kinda shape it before it's hard enough to sand. But anyways you can get those things and just practice on some other stuff before you do it on the Suzuki, not that you'll screw it up cuz you can always sand it off. You could also buy a cheap PDR kit for less than $100. If you've never watched any PDR videos I recommend it. The PDR (paintless dent removal) kit comes with tons of stuff but prob the main helpful thing is the tabs that you hot glue onto the dent, then you can either use a slide hammer or a tool that you squeeze and it has 2 rubber feet that touch outside the dent , then when u squeeze it pull your tab in between the feet. Yeah man if you've never heard of PDR definitely definitely check it out before anything else, that may be all you need. Alright, I'm rambling, but I think you'll be really happy trying it yourself. 👍

    In the connection of the hood's retaining rods with the black rubber pieces that are screwed to the body, two other metal hinges are missing that make the two buttons fit correctly on both sides of the windshield. I'm really sorry to tell you that you're going to break the hood again.😢

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wait, now I'm confused, but that's great information. Thank you so much! So is there supposed to be like a tab with a male button on one side and female on the other that takes up that gap I have? Also, is the hood supposed to snap into that somewhere to hold it up when it's open? I'll do some digging, no that you gave me a little direction, thanks again!

    Great job! As far as I remember mounting the soft top on the samu, you should have best results starting from the front to the rear. Work the windscreen “connection” first and then to the back. Best results depending on the top brand…I guess! Whats the brand of your top? I’m looking for a new one and its not easy to find a good one in europe.
    Cheers from Portugal

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah that's what the instructions said too but I couldn't get the front plastic piece to stay in the groove without all the tension from the rear on it. Unfortunately Ebay won't let me go back that far in my history anymore to see what brand it was. I want to say the metal rods were around $100, which is such a rip off. If I would have known that's what they'd send me I would have bought 2 sticks of EMT and 2 couplers, that's basically all it is. Then the top wasn't very much. I think I only paid like $220 for both, however the first one they sent was complete garage. 2 of the zippers didn't work, a bunch of buttons broke, it was just terrible, then the replacement (the one in this video) was basically perfect. Anyways, it's kind of a roll of the dice getting that one off Ebay. But at least they replaced it for me with a decent one. Hopefully if you get it off Ebay you'll get a good one the first time. Thanks for the comment, take care.

    I disagree on the mic. It eliminates the wind noise, the sound is a tidbit muffled but it’s not bad.
    You have the mic clipped to your chest. Move it up to the collar of your shirt and quality should improve.
