Once all the kinks are sorted out 3.0+ will be a lot better IMO… I always felt in order to get most of these features we’ve been wanting Akai had to start from scratch and trim some of the fat from the previous Firmware. BTW, I’m digging the retro style on that Key 37! 👍 🎹 👉 ⬛️ 🔊
You got your Key37 looking fly asf King!!! Thanks for explaining this, I used my Drum Programs the same way... I always have several in the Programs Folder & use them across 100 plus Sequences...🤔🤯🤔 I'm gonna stick with MPC2 until further notice... Actually it Exploded to Audio Tracks the same before on MPC 2... #GreatVid...🎥🎬🎥
Well the software is for free wich is a bonus, and we can switch back to the 2.0 if we don't like it. I will stay with the old because i need song mode + mute/unmute tracks per sequence.
The A-B is something straight from the Force. Its the crossfader. You basically assign tracks to a side and some to the other side and you can volume fade in and out the groups. I wonder how that would work, without a psyical hardware fader. Maybe it was overlooked and got left in or maybe they added a touchscreen/touch strip version..hmm.
Hope the File browser will have a rework too. You can only go to the previous folder with that tiny little Icon on the file path. This has to be accessible througg a button. Next SEQ. Maybe Also its kind of random how the browser loses the last highlighted folder, if you skip to previous folder. Thats kind of annoying if you have a bunch of files. I would like to be able to navigate and scroll just with my right hand on the knob through my samples. That shift Drive Info Tab is also not necessary, its anyway in the upper tab next to favorite folder 😅
i have the same issue with it, even just scrolling through a bunch of programs with the same track. I use to make a beat on one track, upload several prigrams and then scroll through them to choose the best kit for that track i composed, now it's not possible with mpc 3, they must give that back
The A and B is from the Force you know it has that mixer fader slider on the right that has A and B so you can assign sounds to the A and B and crossfade between them.
This is so convoluted but they need “Take Lanes” within tracks. So like tracks within tracks yes, but seems like it would be the only way to keep the old workflow. I’ve used MPCs for over 15 years now
It was even faster to switch tracks on the 60. Speed is key. There something really important that I don’t see people mentioning as well, for instance: say I’ve been working on a drum beat and I’m adding the hihats, playing them in and I think it’s great but they’re comin in a little too hard, you could turn the velocity down on that track, like quickly sub mixing with tracks. I do that allllll the time
@@ShazammtheProducer I just don’t see them remedying this unless there are some sort of “sub-tracks”. I’m torn bc I don’t use my Live to make music very often anyway, I use it for performance where I have a lot of keygroups made from various synths and keyboards I own, and then play backing tracks and stems. But the RAM limitation was infuriating and I’d been waiting for disk streaming for years. I have a two week tour coming up in a week and a half and I’m so tempted to update so I can spruce up my stems and not worry about RAM
The only thing I like about the 3.0 is the new mixer view, it's similar to the mixer view on my Maschine Plus. If I could have that in the 2.0 firmware, I could care less about 3.0. I'm curious about trying it but I'm kinda spooked about updating. LOL
@@ShankatsuForte I don't know. I've never tried synching the two up. I just sample out of one into the other (I have the OG MPC One) through the SP 404.
I am pretty sure on 2.x exploding creates new tracks that point to the same program. Hence in 3.0 when you import they decided to change it to midi which is exactly the same behavior. They probably chose that route instead of copying program on exploded track because it might not work when the ram is an issue. You also keep calling drum track „audio track” which is might be confusing since audio track is audio track;) Anyway, thanks for new info about 3.0
@ShazammtheProducer I also use Studio one, and same thing once you open a older project you can't open again with the older version. It only took a Lil while before I realized I didn't want to open it with the old version. Everything eventually came into focus. The first real upgrade to 64 bit. I think I started with 20 plugins when I had hundreds 😆

Im sry, I am completely lost. The whole thing about program tracks was confusing to new people and no one could ever explain the difference between a program and a track. I will take credit for sitting down and trying to wrap my head around this concept and come up with an explanation that made sense to people, a track is the raw MIDI data and a program is the sound library assigned to the 128 pads (remember that you can cycle thru 8 pages * 16 pads = 128 pads) and is further confused by the fact that each pad can be played pitched up or down. It made no sense to have tracks and programs as two separate entities, because, as you point out, you can't have one without the other.
You can use the same program for multiple tracks. If you change the program parameters or load a different drum set, all the tracks sound different now. You may like that or not.
It seems like the people here understand, so just to check; this way you can choose whether you want to influence the program (and doing so every other track that uses the program) or only the track (and this track alone). Kind of makes sense.
@@fvis Yes, and if you need to change a program or a track that contain the same data, you can simply duplicate it. Lets say, you have a cymbal crash assigned to a track. In that sequence, you want to put reverse the cymbal but just for one hit of the four that you are using in the sequence. What you can do is duplicate the track (and thus, the program), go into the midi editor and remove the one cymbal roll that you want to reverse the roll for, then, go to the track with your reversed cymbal roll (and change it to be reversed if needed) and insert the MIDI data to hit that pad at that moment. In short, just duplicate a track if you need to modify the parameters for that track in only one sequence, remove the MIDI data for the original track data and add the MIDI data for the new track, along with doing whatever manipulations you need to the track data. The drawback is, we will be duplicating alot of data. There is a track limitation of 128 tracks. However, if you remember to remove tracks which you do not need before you copy sequences, you should be fine. I also dont know anyone who is using anywhere close to 128 tracks in a beat, which is why this change makes total sense. We have all this flexibility to have far more tracks than anyone would remotely ever use. Now, where this limitation will be an issue is the internal synths. There is a limit of 8 instances of any internal synth in standalone mode. I can see it being VERY easy with duplicating an internal synth to hit this limit of 8 very easily. However, I don't know of anyone who is using the internal synths for a finalized track to be used professionally and published. They are just not very good. They are fine for sketching an idea, beyond that, this is where Maschine+ and its internal synths are just superior to the MPC in every way. So my thinking is, everything will be fine.
