4:36 hell yeah! randomizing feature should be built in every synth, drum machine etc. thats the first step. next step in evolution, you can select which parameters (ASDR, cutoff, saturation, drive etc) to randomize. dang, i guess i will upgrade to 3.0 even though i barely got grip on now old MPC (live) workflow. but that randomizing feature for chops… daaaaang… a must have.
2:56 idk what it’s called on MPC but it should be called Equal chopping. Where all pads are equally sliced to the same length depending on how many you want.
The random feature seems like it can be fun to play around on some few occasions, MPC 3 is looking really nice though NGL... The public beta cant come quick enough!
This is a dope video and was totally helpful. However, I can't seem to save anything once I start chopping my sample. I just got the latest update and was able to save the sample after edited the start points but not after chopping. Do you have any suggestions?
Really cool! This will be super dope on percussion loops. Do we still need to convert to a new track to access all chops though or can we finally keep it in the same program?
Once you record it in, does it keep the same randomized pattern of chops it created when recording? Or do the events always trigger the sample chops randomly when replaying?
@@jorisfrancken i’m so glad you mentioned this. I was actually paying attention to this exact thing. It seems like it keeps the same groove and it locks in which is a good thing because when I was overdubbing my kicks on top of that groove it locked in my kicks with it as well. If it was randomizing it, then my kicks would be offbeat every other bar.
There needs to be a better was to manipulate those regions in the sampler. For example if I want to make one of those regions play in reverse I want to be able to do it in real time and audition to change before I process it. Also be able to manipulate each region if I want to speed up that region, slow it down, or put an fx on just one without affecting any other region.
Hello Malo! Thank you for your tutorials. I have switched from MPC Live 2 to Key 37, but I noticed that when I go to browser and click on “Instruments” it doesn’t shows keygroups anymore. Do you still have the same behavior on MPC 3.0?
Where did Pad Chopping go? I like tapping the pad to chop the sample WHERE I want to chop it. Can someone help with that? Did AKAI get rid of that important feature?
We had a similar feature in the MPC 4000 - with chop w/ sequence and you could use a random lfo to trigger it I believe. - nice to see it on the modern MPC's
They probably used DJ software type time stretching finally.. never understood why they allowed it to be so bad before... I used to change the tempo in DJ software then record that to chop
I’ve never been a fan of warping with any of the standalone units. Time stretching has been decent but not sure if it’s just me. I feel like the time stretching sounds a bit better in 3.0.
Thanks for this vid. It's a huge way tio use the random possibility that you show us. Thanks a lot, it gives idea. If I can help in return?. LFO is for Low Frequency Oscillator. It is an oscillator which makes sound very very low, so low that human ears can't hear it (normally). The LFO is often applied to a normal oscillator. And if we can't hear LFO, we can hear his effect, how it influences the normal oscillator. You can hear the effect by playing with the rate of the LFO. It is used a lot in electronic music to create variation on a sound. I hope it was useful to you. Thanks again for your vid and your tips and good vibration. Take Care.
I've had an issue with my Live 2 I didn't have when I had the X and I CANNOT figure it out. When I go to a new track and make it a key group (icon) and select my sample, assign it to a pad, then go back to main page, it shows in the track meter there's a signal but when I hit any of the pads there is no sound. All the pads are red and yellow instead of the green or blue. When I go to sample edit I can audition the sample and get audio, however. WTF do I need to do? I know it's a simple miss on my end but someone lemme know what I'm missing. I never had this issue on the X.
@@slowneutron6163 I haven’t experienced any as of yet, but you will be OK since they leave you with an option to downgrade back to 2.0 if any reason or troubles with 3.0. On your Settings page you have a (downgrade) button, allowing you to go back to 2.0 at any given time
Note repeat was a gem here🫡

Your beat making technique is always inspiring!
Yo have no idea how much this means. Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing this with me. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Everyone is warming up to 3.0 which is great.
This is solid for texture too. I’d add granular to the percussion and I think it can make 🔥
Wow!! This would be amazing
@@malobeats you should do a video using the Granular Fx in the MPC

Yes. Sub factory is amazing for both simple, and complex things

Malo, you have me stoked for 3.0! I’d love a video where you go over your method for EQ’ing drums, the soft clipper, etc. Maybe you have one already?

How are you connected to Ableton? With the MPC plugin or through your audio interface? Also, how do you manage quantizing MPC to Ableton?
I am going to update my MPC X with the MPC 3 software and leave my MPC key 61 with the old OS just in case I don’t like it …great video fam

I was thinking if you're into finger drumming, setting a long sample of hi hats and chopping them would be cool to add some feel with this feature
