I have a 2000 toyota avalon...162k on the dash.. car started misfiring...took a while to find out it was the vvt selenoid... I'm about to change my motor mounts and my evap purge valve to get rid of my check engine light.... I will later change out my ac actuator to get rid of an annoying sound..other than that I am good...car rides great...at times it feels like I am floating😁 and with no payments that's the icing on that cake 😁 great update..thank you for sharing 🙏🏾💯
just acquired a 2001 Avalon XLS! in silver spruce paint with 125k miles. about to replace the struts. Loving the car so much!! I get the hype, what a hidden gem
Please more videos of the avalon amazing to hear those miles👏 I have 2002 xls with only 107.000 mile It was somebody grandma but saddy she pass away so the family sold to me I did every single maintenance on it already can't wait to see how far she goes 👍
I also have a 2000 Avalon XLS with 250k miles and I've had it for 3 years. bought it with 91k...drove across several states with no issues, SUPER comfy and reliable. Center console is common to tear and had mine reupholstered and its beautiful. in a few weeks I plan to drive from Long Island to Florida for my move, 1000 miles for that trip lol.
I bought a used Avalon in 2016 from a church member of mine it had 227,000 mi on it she really couldn't afford the maintenance and had some rotor freeze up on it so she was ready to sell it I bought it and now and May of 2021 it has 312,000 mi on it I've changed all the plugs all the coil packs and the struts in both right and left CV axle runs like a dream change the oil every 3 to 5000 miles faithfully!!!
@@cl4y Do it. DO NOT ever let that car go or trade it in. Toyota's last forever and would be great cars for your future children or just to always have.
They are becoming harder to find , and sellers want premium prices for some that already have too many miles . My family brought a 98 new and ran it to 260k.
So cool. I bought a 2006 xl and it has 80k miles on it right now drives so well and smooth I put Michelin’s on it and the ride is even better. I’ve been told my engine isn’t even broken in yet
Looking to buy a 2001 158k miles have you ever had any spark plug or oil burning issues? Says got a timing belt and water pump at 108k miles and Front back brake job, tune up, and Replace 1 cv axle with boot at 118k
An amazing car.. the only thing I don't like is the amount of brake dive I get even after new struts! I don't know if anyone else can comment on this but it's bad haha other than that solid car! Transmission fluid change every 30k miles and oil change every 3000! Will run forever if you change all the fluids in this car at the appropriate intervals, did my spark plugs, cleaned my throttle body, new struts, coolant drained, brake fluid changed, and transmission fluid changed. Just have to do my power steering fluid this month and that's all! Car has 132k and as many say.. it's not broken in yet!
I'm honestly surprised you never changed the transmission fluid. I religiously change mine at 100,000 for any Toyota/Lexus I've owned because it's easy and good procedure to do to ensure a lasting transmission. But it's good to hear yours doesn't have any issues. Lol Nissan transmissions fail at 80,000
My Nissan Maxima tranny was great with 200,000 miles. One owner car before me. I loved that car, till someone did U-turn into my lane, 3 Lane hwy too, wet roads, hit brakes but slid into them & insurance totaled it. But I only paid $3000 for it, 97 yr Maxima, drove it 3 yrs & they gave me$2000 for it. Of course, not enough to buy comparable car! Have the 2004 Avalon XLS now, after about 4-5 yes driving 2002 Infiniti I 35 that quit running & no mechanic seems to be able to figure it out, so even tho I have tons of money in it, decided to buy something else till I can afford one last chance to fix it. But if it runs again, I'm selling it cuz it has 171,000 miles on it, Avalon only 149,000 and much smoother and roomier, but without the same power as my 3.5 Infiniti. But I'm in love with my Avalon!
All you should be counting your blessings. 2000 Toyota Avalon XLS. Bought in 2015 with 40000 miles. Now just over 152,000. Over 5 grand in repairs and have babied this car. All maintenance done on time. Burning a quart if oil every 500 miles.Found out last month needs a rebuilt engine over 6500$.
Bruh i got this same car, pearl white with +290,000 miles. Awesome car and also my back sub speaker dont work either but it has always driven smoothly and comfortably. Wouldn't want any other vehicle where im at rn.
sweet ride bro. i’ve got a 2000 xls as well. you mentioned that cd’s have gotten stuck in there, how do you get them out? I have 6 cd’s in mine and they do not want to come out or play.
hey i’m really interested in buying one of these and i found one with 62’000 miles but he’s asking for 8500 and not budging, i’m just not sure if it’ll be worth it though. thoughts ?
Ya man 8500 is a ridiculous asking price for a 20+ year old Toyota. Granted they are excellent cars. I have a 2002 xls and it's been a great. What's your budget?
A 2000 Avalon? If it were a 2010 or higher then it'd be a fair asking price. I wouldn't pay more than 5 or 6k for that though. The car is almost as old as I am yikes.
Yes , just make sure the maintenance history is on point because these cars can last a long time with proper maintenance. At over 300k this Avalon v6 engine whispers like a kitten
Make sure there's maintenance records for the knock sensors within the past 70K miles. It's the only super expensive job with these cars and is required for emissions testing, power, fuel economy, and prevention of carbon build-up. If they don't have records for it, don't pay over a grand.
I only have 52,000 miles on my 2000 XLS. Just put a new vinyl roof on it. I love it. Almost completely restored to new. The clock won’t let me put 2022. Fresh transmission fluid and I change the oil every year. I drive about 2K a year and mostly highway miles. Still have a few minor repairs to restoration. Original engine.
I'm looking at a 2000 Lexus es300 (same engine) all the fluids are clean, but this car will be bought at an auction for really cheap, however it has 255k miles, is it worth it? the rest of the car is in great shape except low coolant and gas cap replacement. (It will sell around 400$) can't start the car because to test it, so it's a risk. but for so cheap...
Yes these are very reliable cars and can last awhile if it's properly maintained. If its around $400 go for it, because if it's a good one then you can flip it for like $2k . With today's horrible car economy it's better to buy old cheap cars and run then to the ground
Ha this is funny, I'm considering buying one of two cars -- a 2002 Avalon and a 2006 RL -- and the same guy did an ownership review of both of them. I'm torn.

2001 XLS with 175k Still runs like new. Doesn’t burn a drop of oil, change every 5k with synthetic. Have had it for 20 years
We get a TON of these at our dealership. Such great cars.

I copped a 2003 Avalon XLS 90,500 miles and I love it
Put 18K miles on mine since February of this year (about to hit 140K total). These are great practical daily drivers and aren't too expensive.

I just bought an 04 with 130.000 miles for under $7.000
2000 xls with 325000 miles and runs perfectly. Only real issue is the rear struts need replaced. I love this car.
After reading the comments, my 2015 9,500 miles will last me for the rest of my life. Im 53😁.
Im going to try to keep my 12 with 56k for the rest of my life, I’m almost 19.

2006 336,000 miles Avalon no problem

How much mpg are you getting? I’m only getting 10-15 in city trying to figure out why !
