This has honestly always been my biggest fear.. not pregnancy just a surprise birth out of the blue. On the plus side my paranoia helped me discover my pregnancy 10 days before my missed period lol
@@lunarlovegoodx3 I've actually been afraid of pregnancy altogether for a long part of my life (just starting to be ok with the idea, and I'm 27); when I discovered pregnancy denial/cryptic pregnancy was a thing in my late teens, it terrified me. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
My brother's wife started to go into labor at my parents house and my brother calls my uncle and says "yeah I'm at my parents and we need a drive to the hospital (wifes name ) is uh um very pregnant . Yes she's very pregnant " mean while in the background she was just going on about needing to get to a hospital and telling him to hurry up .
Ok but she said at the beginning she had just divorced. Can you imagine having to call your ex husband and be like “hey funny story we have a baby now”
Or she says nothing, he simply gets a demand for child support in the mail. Gets a lawyer, goes to court, just to meet his daughter in front of the judge.... he’d of course demand a paternity test (rightfully so) and be astonished by the results. Oh to be a fly on that way!!!
@ Abigail Swayze Oh man, I hope since you are watching her channel your beliefs do not align with your parents. Doctor Jones is all about safe sex, contraception and not shaming women about sex.
Toxic parents? If you know you would abort, why not be careful not to get pregnant in the first place? Planning an abortion "just in case" or, even worse, trying to kill the baby any other way is what I call toxic, not parents just because they are pro life.
Purple Rain I’m pretty sure it actually does happen from time to time, that a baby is born with it’s hand up by it’s head like a little first medalist.
asking your younger sibling to call for help during an emergency and they run to get the phone, just chuck it at you and bolt is surprisingly relatable
why is no one talking about her saying she was filming this at 1:00 am? this lady is an actual superhero. She is a mom, doctor, and youtuber and is successful in all of those jobs. Wow what a role model.
You forgot one more thing: she's not just a mom. She's a mom of TWINS! And not just a mom of twins, but a mom eho had twins in the middle of med school or her residency if memory serves! THAT is like out of this world level super woman!
Ok these usually have really bad reenactment actors, but that woman's reaction is exactly what I imagine "I felt a foot coming out of me," would be like. Just * SHRIEK *
There's an episode where a woman gives birth in a fast food restaurant lol, she was in pain and bleeding and she checked herself only to feel and see her son's head coming out of her XD
That poor woman. She's blaming herself for not acting on information she didn't even have, and it's not like she didn't try testing for pregnancy. How could she have known?? I hope she's forgiven herself by now.
Some people don’t care when they’re pregnant at all and it’s so sad that she blames herself. And I don’t mean people who get abortions I mean people who know they’re pregnant do nothing about it such as keeping the baby healthy not eating certain foods or such
I tend to get "lucky" stumbling onto men who have no idea what to do when someone has a medical emergency. And I am extremely accident prone. More then once was it me, who was bleeding profusely (bad clogging, I bleed like a mofo) and had to collect all my calm and tell the panicking guy what to do. "You need to disinfect it." Him: "But that will sting." Me: "Dear Lord, to whom haveth you given a soul? Just douse it with rubbing alcohol and bandage it so I can limp away, okay?" Him: "ok."
Princess YuBeace my brother would just scream at the emergency lady/man to get an ambulance imediately and yelling the adress and would feel so guilty and stressed out
@@cairasnyder7438 isn't it obvious? they gave birth to a dog and a horse in the past. d u h. ( though, in all honesty they're probably joking or saying this in a sense of "well yeah no s***")
The way she said that "this is the head coming out first. This is what we like - we'd appreciate if the babies would do that" as though she's sending out a general memo, lol.
My younger sister didn't get the memo, the doctor found out last minute she flipped in the womb (it was normal when they checked before) and my mom told me that the doctor and her team had to carry her to the operating table and immediately prep her for C-section.
I went to the gynecologist for the first time today after avoiding it for as long as possible- as a rape survivor it was very difficult, very triggering, and I cried through the entire process. I think it would be soooo helpful if Mama Doctor Jones could make a video with tips for getting through appointments when you have sexual trauma or even just encouragement in doing so ! no one ever talks about it and so many people struggle with it
For your own health, I'm so glad you went! I'm also so sorry that you have experienced something so awful in your life. I think it would be great for MDJ to talk about this too, so we can all learn how to support each other.
Not even knowing she was pregnant, when the baby was coming out, her first fear was that the baby wasn't okay. Immediate motherly fear. She's a good mom. ❤
@@HyenaBellaDanceNSing it's not the women that don't want children that bother me, I'm absolutely pro choice. The women that bother me are the ones that are pregnant, they know and drink alcohol, do drugs, and then when the baby is born, the don't care if their child is healthy, or even bother to keep the child healthy. Honestly, to me, a woman that doesn't want children and either has a termination or gives the child for adoption, are better women that those that don't care for their children's well being. Either don't have the child or give it to someone that will give it a better life, or at least an actual chance at a better life than having it to just give it an awful life from the beginning.
I love how Mama Doctor Jones always says "we do the best we can with the information we have". It's become a regular saying in my life. Thank you for these wise words!
@Alex M She probably just felt a lot of pain and weird pressure, so she didn't realize what exactly was going on until feeling it with her hands. Your hands are much better at identifying and recognizing things than the inside of your body. I don't think it's possible to feel that there's a foot inside of you without knowing it beforehand....
@Alex M I mean, she was having a lot of pain around that zone. If the pain is too strong (which it was), it automatically makes you forget about other touching feelings, so it's possible she didn't noticed it Or at least, she didn't indentifyed as as something SOLID going out, like a foot Geez, it makes me feel really bad just by imagine it
I was a preemie breach. I was also an emergency c-section, because I got stuck in the canal while I was breach (mom doesn't know what type of breach I was). When they finally got me out, they found that my umbilical cord had wrapped itself around my neck and between my mom trying to push me out, and the position I was in, it cut off my oxygen. I was technically stillborn, and it took the team that delivered me up to five minutes to get me to successfully breathe again. I officially came into the world at 30 weeks. I was just a little under five pounds, and that's all I know. My mom doesn't like to relive it, because she says that's the worst moment of her life, crying for me to breathe while trying to survive herself. I was the last child she had, because of the damage done, she had to have a hysterectomy... We're both lucky to be alive honestly
Wow, I got chills and tears in my eyes. That is insane to read, both you and your mom are so strong. I hope you two are close and that you feel happy to be alive. I know I would be if I came into the world under those conditions. Wow
@@wolffisu we're semi-close, some stuff happened growing up that made it hard to fully be like best friends. But she's my mom, and we both know that we'd do anything for each other
that happened to me too, though my mum gets less emotional about, preferring to laugh at the memory of me "trying to hang myself before I'd even made it out."
I was born two weeks early but the doctor made my mom not push when she felt that she needed to. So I stayed in longer than was necessary. When I finally did come out, I had inhaled my meconium (that’s the first poop h the at a baby has after birth) in the womb and was not breathing. I was completely purple and was without oxygen for a few minutes. Doctors were worried that I would have cerebral palsy because they couldn’t get me breathing. Graduating college with a bachelors at 21 yrs old in the fall and applying to my masters too :)
I don’t know how true this is, because I’m not a doctor or therapist and I’ve only ever heard about it in a hearsay kind of way. That depending on the circumstances the more you push yourself mentally to deny the situation the less you’ll show/have symptoms etc. I don’t know if that’s based on science though.
I've been at 90 lbs my whole life, at 5 ft tall. Right before giving birth I weighed 115 lbs I looked suuuuuper pregnant, no way anyone could miss it. 😂😂😂
It happens often in women who have a tilted uterus. Sometimes itll fall foward around 17 weeks. Sometimes it wont and the baby will be “in the back”. I have a tilted uterus and mine falls forward. I can look a little bloated one day and a couple days later Ill look full on pregnant.
I was 18 had been with my baby's father for 3 1/2 years. I was finishing cheerleading, show choir, basketball and softball as well as training for summer volleyball. I was a size 5 and had an actual 6 pack. I bled every month. I used tampons. I felt a flutter in my abdominal. So I took a test and it was negative. So I made an appt with ob/gyn. I went in and talked with the doc she palpate my stomach said I was 6 weeks pregnant...I said when do you feel movements? She asked if I felt movement I told her I am pretty sure. So she sent me for urgent ultrasound. They say I am 12 weeks according too size. I left the office was just getting into my vehicle and a nurse slams through the door and called my name. She said the Dr. wanted too talk too me. So I followed her back in and they took me beyond the waiting room behind the locked door. The Dr. said you are not 12 weeks pregnant you are 21 weeks...you are over half of the way through your pregnancy. I passed out from shock. I went home and told my folks...even though I had graduated high school. I started bleeding again and went to the ER and was put on complete bed rest for the next 5 weeks too my left side only. I was put on yitapar or ritadine too help prevent early delivery and she was delivered at 26 weeks gestational. I had placenta abruption/ pre eclampsia. So she was in the NICU for 3 months and we went home when she reached 5 lbs...in cabbage patch doll clothes. She is now 29 years old.

a girl i went to high school with had 2 daughters, knew she was pregnant both times, then she got really fit and posted a picture of her 2ish pack. a week later, my friend, who was a habitual liar, tells me that this girl texted her saying she just delivered a baby boy and didnt know she was pregnant and was asking my friend if she had any baby stuff she could have. i thought 100% my friend was lying. well, a week or so later, the girl who had just posted her 2 pack posted her son that she had in her mom's bedroom floor that she had nooo idea about lol
My mother had a period almost every month when she was pregnant with my sister. Her periods where a little erratic anyway so she didn’t think anything of it. She thought she might be pregnant, but her pregnancy test was negative. She didn’t have any other symptoms! None! She didn’t even look pregnant. At all! I was 17 at the time, and she and I had gone to the pool 2 days before she had her first Braxton Hicks. She was wearing a bikini. There are photos. She started having terrible pains that she thought were cramps before her period. They got bad so we went to the E.R. And that’s when they told her she was 7 months pregnant. 😳 Everyone in our family flipped! It was crazy! Lol. However, we were so grateful that she found out and was able to get proper medical care for her last 2 months. Instead of randomly giving birth one day on the kitchen floor or something.
@ Kaylor And Khaos Your MOTHER COULD NOT HAVE HAD A MENSTUAL PERIOD WHILE BEING PREGNANT. THE BLEEDING THAT SHE HAD WAS OTHER THAN HER MENSTRUAL CYCLE. CHECK IT OUT FURTHER IF YOU ARE QUESTIONING THIS. ASK A OBGYN LICENSED RN, NURSE PRATIONER OR AN MD. I HAVE LOTS OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THIS AND DO NOT WANT TO GET PERSONAL HERE.
@@kaitlynjones3424 A person who normaly has erratic periods wouldn't be alarmed by having spotting that appears as erratic periods. Instead, they'd think they were having normal (to them) periods. And from how I read the post, that's about what happened. Doesn't matter if it's technically called spotting if it's very similar to having your periods like normal.
@@bernitacenteno1326 Calm down. I experienced something quite similar and I have been in the medical field for decades. These things happen. Do not come here and call people liars.
That happened with me with my first prego, had sex and couple hours later hospital transferring me because couldn’t stop labor and baby was only about 30 weeks. Took couple days of constant work with doctors to stop it so my baby would survive. Bed rest with no sex for rest of pregnancy after, luckily delivered morning I turned 40 weeks
TxLove • yeah the reason it was an issue was because he had already dropped, his head could be felt, I wouldn’t recommend it at that point but if the baby hasn’t dropped then you should be good. (However I am NOT a doctor)

Isabel Roberts people on the baby boards are insane when it comes to the insistence on having vaginal deliveries. Doesn’t matter if it’s breach twins and you’ve already had 5 c sections, they are determined.

I had a light bleeding every single month for my pregnancy. I didn't actually feel anything. Other than being extremely ill, and being told I had an ulcer...no kicks, no movements.nothing. 32 weeks I went in to my gyno to get back on birth control (I was on it but stopped becuase of how sick I was) and when they did a test they found out. Rylee is 8 months now 🤗🤗 best surprise ever
I think that it's understandable that this woman didn't know she was pregnant. Firstly she did a pregnancy test to see if she was in fact pregnant, which came up negative for whatever reason. Secondly, she continued to have bleeding throughout the pregnancy which she assumed was her period. And finally, this is obviously her first pregnancy and symptoms such as heartburn and movement can be explained away since she has no point of reference to think that what she's feeling is anything other than digestive issues. Also she's experiencing one of life's major stress events, the end of a marriage, is it any wonder that this happened. I look forward to your videos and enjoy them all and I hope everyone is keeping safe and well.
Her family didn't notice anything either after all. And if you already have issues with your stomach I can totally see you assuming that your body is up to its usual BS. Like, I have IBS and constantly experience issues with my poor tummy. In my case though pregnancy is impossible since I'm a virgin.
Yep, and this story just made me more paranoid. I'd taken a plan b pill after a minor condom accident, because me and my bf would rather be safe than sorry. It wasn't the first time I'd taken it and I know it throws my cycle slightly out of balance. Like, I started PMSing very heavily around the appropriate time for my period, but the period itself started about 5 days later and was completely normal, if you discount the part that my usual light spotting-ish first day took like two days instead. So I did a pregnancy test during my next cycle, it's negative. But then I freaked out again during my next cycle's PMS, which also started too early AND I had heartburn, so I double freaked out. But at the same time I'd gone back on iron supplements and vitamins which I need every few months and while I previously hadn't experienced any problems with, they could've caused the heartburn. I've been completely regular since then and it's been months but it just remains as a lingering fear at the back of my head and this episode certainly didn't help, even though it's been 5 months since and I absolutely had no other 'signs' except for those 5 occurrences of heartburn -_-
She did seem to be suspicious, but in denial. Which is super understandable. Although I still can't imagine not being suspicious enough to go to a doctor about it, but everyone's symptoms are different. Recently I had a chemical pregnancy, which was interesting and 100% unexpected. My entire body chemistry changed even though I never had enough hcg to test positive. It did sort out a couple of hormonal issues I'd had since my twins were born, which was nice. Pregnancy is weird.
my exact thoughts. i know someone who went through the same thing and didnt even realize she was pregnant until she went to the bathroom and heard crying or movement from the toilet afterwards. poor kid ended up with fetal alcohol syndrome and a couple other issues as a result, but she was adopted and now has a good relationship with her birth parents luckily
I had a friend who didn't figure out she was pregnant until she was nearly in her third trimester. She was on some sort of birth control that stops periods, and since she'd just broken up with her boyfriend, she figured a lot of her symptoms -- weight gain, digestive issues, etc. -- were down to stress from that. I would not be at all surprised if this woman (understandably) wrote off a lot of other little signs because of stress, especially because she'd had a negative pregnancy test.
My grandmother’s neighbor delivered two babies breech at home. Her husband insisted to keep all the births natural. He was a veterinarian and thought he was qualified enough, and was super into them having this all natural homestead style lifestyle. It went okay for the first two.....and then they lost their daughter at birth and the mother came extremely close to death herself. It was straight up said that the death was caused by neglectful intervention practices. He knew something was wrong when the baby (for the THIRD TIME was breeched), he knew she had a cord wasn’t supplying oxygen, and he knew his wife was bleeding far too heavily after the birth. Yet he thought he could handle it. He wasn’t able to revive the baby himself and then waited a horribly long time before calling EMT’s for his wife because he thought he could stop the bleeding. This was in the country were it could easily take half an hour or more for an ambulance to arrive so by the time they got there she was in a VERY bad way. If he had just been a tad more responsible maybe he’d have a thirty year old daughter today and wouldn’t have put his wife and sons through the trauma of losing the baby girl and almost losing her. People who think it’s okay to delivery breech, especially at home.... oh my god they’re infuriating. Even with medical intervention at a hospital it can end so tragically.
I delivered my first baby breech. In a hospital setting with an amazing doctor super experienced with breech. I know the „Term Breech Trial“ showed a bigger risk for the child and changed the paradigm in a lot of countries BUT it has been heavily criticised for being a methodologically VERY poor study. So with experienced doctors and midwifes delivering breech vaginally poses no bigger risk (for mother and baby, given there are no known risk factors) than a cesarian plus it has all benefits of a vaginal birth :)
It is infuriating, isn't it, how some people knowingly and willfully choose - in developed nations, no less - not to receive prenatal care or have trained and licensed professionals in attendance at their deliveries because they are adamant about doing everything "the way nature intended". Your case is just one of many tragic stories that get swept under the carpet by the free-birth movement.
I knew a woman at a pottery class I used to go to who went to the hospital with abdominal pain and the doctor was basically like. "Oh, I see what is going on. You are in labor." and she was like "I AM WHAT??" That was so bizarre. It was the first kid too so there was no preparation what so ever to take care of a child . No baby room. no baby items. I mean can you just imagine??
Paws & Thumbs Those are to prevent babies... You have to put actual planning into what you want to buy for your baby. Plus you might have to set up a room for them. When you plan ahead, you can but exactly what you want and need.

You should absolutely do a Ted talk on the misconceptions of gynecology and pregnancy and just inform others of the reality of it because I think that would be an amazing TED talk
I mean, it's worth people knowing that in certain situations with someone who is trained to deliver breech babies that it's entirely possible. As opposed to just cutting. I'm guessing "Susan" was being condescending, and that's what warranted the sass? Birth has been so intensely pathologised, it's understandable that this is frustrating for some folks. Thank goodness for science and medicine, but it's nice to remember that birth is a normal physiological process. 🤷🏻♀️
My mom told me something similar. She said I was in there for a long time and decided to come out when she was pickling cucumbers and she basically went "Why now?!" as her water broke, angrily finished what she was doing and called herself an ambulance. I will add that my mom was an OBgyn at the time and is to this day a cynical bitch (and I love her for it).
@@Lucylle My mum crawled up the stairs while she was in labour with me so she could put her eyeliner on 😆 not sure how she could get a straight line through contractions, but she managed it!

One week before my due date I performed the only acrobatic maneuver of my existence and flipped from "appreciated" birthing position to breech. And I was a pretty hefty lump of human. Went from crown down to pressed ham 7 days before opening night, and that was how 38 weeks: "Everything's looking great, Mrs. J! Are you excited to bring your 3rd child into the world?" 39 weeks: "Mmmmm... This one's gonna be sassy." That one epic barrel roll set the tone for our whole relationship.
Yeah for sure. If she was still getting what seemed like a period every month and her preg test was negative I can totally see how she wouldn't realize she was pregnant, especially is she wasn't showing. My best friend just recently had a baby (full term and perfectly healthy, most beautiful baby ever born I must say) and she didn't start showing until the last couple weeks of her pregnancy
I always thought the same thing until my mom who is an ob/gyn told me that women can still get their period during pregnancy and also not show like how we typically imagine it it’s rare but it can happen
My mother has a “backwards uterus” where basically the uterus is tilted back further away from the stomach. So when she was pregnant with me and my sister she didn’t begin showing until after 7 months. But even when she began showing it just kinda looked like if someone had eaten a large dinner the night before.
Hi nice red hair it looks really cool and crazy drama series TLC I didn't know I was pregnant it was a great series that all the woman pregnancy delivery so fast and crazy series ever
I love that you never blame someone for not knowing. My mom was in denial that she was pregnant with me for six months. She'd had her tubes tied so she figured she couldn't get pregnant. She went to the doctor because she thought she had an abdominal cyst (which she'd had before) and when he said she was pregnant she said "No I'm not". She told me that later when she looked back at the pictures from that time before she realized that she doesn't even know how she didn't see that she was pregnant. Denial can be very powerful.
If this is like "Real Stories From the ER", sometimes the actual people involved in the scenario play themselves. I guess they try to use the "real" people first, but if they don't want to be on tv or they can't "act", then they get a professional actor. I don't know if they do that for this show or not, but could be.
I’m amazed at how guilty the mom is when she was completely unaware of pregnancy, I’ve seen mothers with 6 kids not care when she runs over the foot of one
That sounds like it depends on how thin the mother’s patience has run and exactly what they’re feeling guilty about. A run over foot could be interpreted by a tired and frustrated mother as attention seeking (which they then feel guilty about later if it’s more serious than they thought). Not eating properly or preparing properly when you’re pregnant because you don’t know would kill me too, because that could literally permanently damage a whole ass human being. They could get sick, have CP, epilepsy severe learning disabilities etc if you make that mistake. A run over foot in comparison becomes a funny story when the kid grows up. (My brother in law had something similar happen to him where his mom shut the car door on his hand and didn’t believe him. She’s the sweetest most Mrs. Clause like person I know, but the stories her three sons have about getting her riled up enough to do things like throw them into the bathtub fully clothed because they refused to bathe are hilarious now).
@@Brendawallingbear My mum rolled over my foot with the back wheel of the car years ago. All I felt was some pressure but no pain, my cat putting all of her weight on one spot on my leg "hurt" more to be honest.
I was involved in a delivery like this. Patient didn’t know she was pregnant complained of abdominal pain. When they went to do an US she was screaming 😕 They checked her and she was 10 cm. I set the table. I was freaking out as a new grad L&D nurse 😭🤣
Calmly Wetherill, I’m not a doctor, but I’ve had two babies. From my experience, a table is basically like a rolling cart with supplies that the OB or CNM will need immediately after delivery: cord clamps, a container for the placenta, sutures and local anesthetic for tearing, the scissors used to cut the cord, etc. I’m not sure what else might be on there though, those are just the things I know about from my births.
@@alecoloxa yes, a woman can be pregnant and not show. My midwife told me she had more than one woman turn up at the delivery suite in a slinky skin tight dress showing nothing and walk out half an hour later with a full term baby in her arms after a very fast delivery.
@@alecoloxa Absolutely; there's another episode of this show where the mother has a photo of herself the day before she gave birth wearing a bikini and sporting a totally flat and toned stomach. It depends on position of baby and mother's body (my uterus slopes backwards and I didn't show very much in my 2nd pregnancy and was sent for extra growth scans with my 3rd because I wasn't measuring big enough for my dates). Having toned stomach muscles can mask it too.
This certainly brings back memories… In the mid-70s, I had a brief but glamorous career driving an ambulance. I was an LVN at the time, got my RN later, I was bored with floor nursing at Kaiser, and the TV series “Emergency!“ was all the rage. I took an EMT course (this was before paramedics were everywhere) and got an ambulance gig. We got a call around 2 AM that a woman was in labor. It was her first pregnancy, she had gone to the hospital with labor pains that evening, but because she was 7 months, they sent her home and told her it was just Braxton Hicks and to just to take it easy. Arriving at her house, she was on the floor in full-on labor and pushing, a fire crew was already there, all these guys looking clueless as to what to do; they looked at me - oh good a female! - and stepped back - kind of like this woman’s brother handing her the phone. (I want to say this was a small town and the sophistication and training of firefighters - and ambulance drivers - has gone up exponentially in the last 40 yrs.) I noticed something that looked like liver coming out - it was blue and I realized it was a cyanotic heel with the cord wrapped over it. In my hospital, I had been floated to postpartum a lot. I didn’t know a thing about L&D, but I knew what a prolapsed cord was and said “Oh, shit. It’s breech!“ Suddenly the training kicks in. I said “I’m going to decompress the cord“. A fireman jumped in, got down and said “I’ll make an airway for the baby” and put his hand up inside. I grabbed the heels and pulled her out so fast. I didn’t even take time to cut the cord - she hadn’t delivered the placenta yet. I put Maggie on mom‘s chest, wrapped them both in a blanket and we got them to the hospital. A few days later when I was at the hospital again, I inquired and they said baby had done fine and she went home with mom a few days later. Huzzah! So I had the dubious honor of delivering a 4# 7-month double footling breech with a prolapsed cord. I briefly thought about becoming a nurse midwife or working L&D, but after that, the life of a 3-11 float nurse in a major urban hospital didn’t seem so boring. And I don’t do well with middle of the night stuff. Great video!
That is an amazing story 🥰🥰 what a champ that firefighter was to help you! I would imagine the joy of being the one to help deliver a baby would be almost the same as the woman giving birth. Such an amazing thing to be a part of.
Awww The doctors hand on her heart whenever she’s watching the video after the birth. So sweet and obvious that she’s an empathetic doctor. Glad the baby was ok

If I didnt get a positive pregnancy test with my first,I probably would've gone my entire pregnancy not knowing. I lost 20 pounds during my pregnancy, I didnt show at all, not even at 37 weeks. My baby had IUGR and was 4.3 lbs when she was born,so super duper tiny. I went to dinner the night before my induction and my husband said to the waitress "tomorrow we are having a baby so we are celebrating our last supper" lol and the waitress asked if we were adopting and I said no, I'm 37 weeks pregnant and she looked honestly in shock. I believe it's possible to go a whole pregnancy without knowing if the right set of variables occur.
kytti kane I was like that- I was HUGE with my first. HUGE! No one at work even knew I was pregnant with my second until I was 32 weeks and I wore a snug top one day. It’s crazy how different pregnancies can be!
Same I went from abs to a slight pooch at 8 months and then a stick after I delivered, I had test regularly due to other conditions and they all turned out negative, I had a seizure one day and every test after that was positive so I didn't know I was pregnant til the end of my 6 months mark.
I have a seizure condition as well and I think that somehow affected the hometest results, because I was huge, round and 8mths and it would still come up negative 😂

@@velvetdarksoul8741 Well, no, not all of us ... This is a mildly pedantic nitpick, but for those of us who are homeless, life has only gotten more stressful, not calmer or boring. That's an aside from appreciating Crockpot Mama's awesomeness, of course :P It's just something I feel compelled to point out lately since the popular thing for everyone to sympathize about right now is all being bored stuck at home, and it just matters to me to bring visibility to the fact that hundreds of thousands of us in the USA alone don't really get to be part of that club. I'm not really sure how to go about pointing out to people that it's not really representative of the whole without me seeming like kind of a threadjacking whiner lol. I just think it matters to prevent us being erased from public consideration. I don't think you or anyone else who uses the "we all" language right now are being insensitive at all, of course! You're speaking accurately to your experience and that of most people. I just feel a need to pipe up when I see it because plenty of us are online and we see this all the time, and I think people in general often forget that we're around and interacting and working jobs and chilling online being part of these conversations like everyone else, not just sitting under bridges or whatever haha. Sorry this got so long, your comment was just one example of the phenomenon and I've been seeing it everywhere and I'm still trying to figure out how to respond to it so you sorta became the recipient of all my concern 'cos I'm still learning to express it. If my husband and I hadn't been trying to get pregnant, I probably wouldn't have known I was pregnant. I'm overweight and so I didn't really show. I also never had morning sickness. I can totally see how someone could not know.
Sabrina Loizides-Merideth agreed! My husband and I tried actively for awhile and every month I thought I noticed “symptoms”. We stopped trying and I got pregnant (isn’t that how it almost always works out? Lol) but I didn’t know until almost 2 months in. No signs of anything all. I had no idea. Only found out because my bra felt slightly tighter than normal and my best friend yelled “OH MY GOD YOURE PREGNANT!” I said there was no way and two days later got a positive test after several negatives 🤣🤣
@@hannahbarrett1221 my best friend had PCOS and was actively trying to get pregnant. She had some symptoms but they were the same ones her meds gave her. She took a pregnancy test and it was negative. When she finally got a positive test and went to her OBGYN, she was 6 months pregnant.
Sabrina Loizides-Merideth oh that’s awful! PCOS really makes things so much harder. I have it as well and it was a big problem while trying. It can cause missed periods which would get our hopes up just to be let down over and over again. But to not find out until 6 months just wow. I can’t imagine 😭
@@hannahbarrett1221 PCOS really needs to be talked about more, considering how common it is. I also have it but at least I have chosen to be child free, making fertility issues a moot point.
I was underweight when I was pregnant with my first, but I'm 5'9". I didn't start showing until 7 months. I didn't make an announcement to my coworkers (just my boss when I was 2 months along) because I wasn't friendly with any of them. It was funny when I went back to work because no one had figured out I was pregnant. They were shocked when I went on mat leave and when I came back, a couple of them had started a rumour that I 'faked' it. Yes, I faked the 29 hour labour during a snow storm. I had heartburn but I didn't feel a lot of kicking until the last month when she seemed to run out of space. I never had a big belly during pregnancy and I've never had stretchmarks. I did get the dark line down my belly from about 30 weeks. I also often go months without a period. I've gone over a year without a period. So not having a period isn't something that would tip me off. It seems larger women put that it's hard to see you're pregnant strictly down to weight. But as a 5'9" woman, 20 lbs underweight, it was still hard to tell I was pregnant most of the time. And then with nausea, I lost my appetite, so I didn't put on weight until late in the pregnancy. From my perspective, just being tall can make it harder to tell you're pregnant.
I went through a similar situation 3 months ago. First my water broke and when I went to hospital they sent me home to come back when I’m in active labour even though I was losing so much water. While I was home I went to the toilet and felt the baby’s foot was coming out. Like the mum in this video, I pushed the foot back inside and rushed to the hospital. But the midwife there did not believe me when I said the baby was breech. She was adamant about baby being head down and left me to labour further. I was in so so much pain I could feel the baby was pushing herself out but the midwife was very blasé about it. In fact she laughed at me when I said the foot was coming out. Finally when her shift was over, a new midwife came in and noticed something wrong straight away. She noticed that I developed a fever and both mine and the baby’s heart rate was slowing down and called the doctor immediately. Lo and behold! The baby was footling breech!!! Within minutes I was rushed into an emergency c-section and my baby girl was finally born after 16.5 hours of labour. We later found out that the midwife who dismissed me was only a month into her job. An official complaint has been filed.
Vin when i my older brother was born it caused a tear in my moms vagina and so when she realized she was going into labor with me she could feel the top of my head and she went to the hospital and told the nurse that and the nurse laughed at her and was like “there’s no way, you would be in way more pain and wouldn’t even be able to walk” but she was wrong
@@hollygarfield123 my friend was born in the car cause her parents couldnt get to the hospital fast enough. At her next baby, they rushed fast enough but were also dismissed in a similar way as your mom was, but they knew they were right and insisted in seeing another nurse. Baby came in less than an hour
Wow. I'm so glad you and your daughter are all right. Shame on that midwife. You and your daughter are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you both ❤
I don’t understand why even after your water breaks they still try to send you home if your not dilated enough. You know the baby is coming when it breaks! I just watched a video the other day that the woman was sent home and then gave birth in the car on the way back! 😤
Most women who have had a child know what we call “phantom kick” after birth which is just gas that feels like kicks because we get used to the baby kicking. Someone could easily think the kicks or movements are just gas. Especially if baby is early or laying toward her back.
True. My first pregnancy I wasn’t sure about all those changes and new sensations. My second pregnancy I would literally always tell someone that asked about any movement “either they’re kicking or I’m gassy”. Give it some time and if you fart you’ll know.
I kept telling people in my "new mums" groups that the feeling was gas and they would ignore me! I was sure my intestines etc were slightly closer to the surface (maybe due to split tummy muscles) for the months after birth and that's why I could feel stuff. I guess they're also a bit jumbled up for a while too so maybe food flow isn't so smooth.
I'm very grateful with my family today, because of fibroids my tubes was block for five years after using Dr ojo herbal medicine now my wife gave birth to a bouncing baby girl thinks to Dr ojo
I really like how respectfully Mama Doc. Jones talks about these "I did not know I was pregnant" episodes. She is so empathic and does not talk down on the families shown. I didn't know I was pregnant until I was about 6 months into my pregnancy. I have pcos and used to go 5 months without a period. So when I didn't get my period I was like oh wells. I was chunky already so I didn't look pregnant or fatter. When it was going on 6 months I took a test and yep I was pregnant. I was actually losing weight because of my pregnancy. I had no symptoms, no nausea or cramping or anything at all. I now have a healthy, happy 7 year old! ☺️
I threw up all day and night of my pregnancy but I felt brilliant, it wasn't planned because I had the implant but it was one of the happiest times of my life and he's 18 now and continues to brings me joy every day. This one especially reminds me of my nephew. My sister in law didn’t know she was pregnant until she went into labour. She’d had no obvious symptoms, she carried towards her spine so no belly, she continued to bleed throughout her pregnancy. Only near the end did she have swelling of the hands and feet specifically if she had caffeine, so she went to the doctors and they ran bloodwork but said everything came back normal, so they said just avoid caffeine. Finally March 28, 2019 she was having immense cramps and horrible back pain that kept getting worse, so at 9:30pm they went to the hospital, they did an ultrasound where she complained the pain was and SAW NOTHING. They thought a cyst had burst. They changed the machine, and heard a second heartbeat. At 12:30am she found out she was in labour. Our town is small, our hospital doesn’t have a maternity ward, she had to be driven in an ambulance to the next nearest hospital, where at 4:45am she gave birth to a 7lb 10oz baby boy. Everything seemed fine, crazy, but fine. He didn’t have any noticeable issues, he was eating well, sleeping, the doctors checked him out said he was fine. Trigger warning, he wasn’t. We had 6 weeks of normalcy, adjusting to our perfect little bean. Then his head started swelling, his eyes started sun setting . He had fluid on the brain. Not that big of a deal right? We can fix that with a shunt. Well, the Sick Kids specialty hospital in Toronto did a CT scan prior to the surgery and discovered he didn’t have a brain. Or mostly not. He had a brain stem that had been keeping him alive, but nothing else had developed in utero. The fluid wasn’t draining and was crushing that brain stem. He was functionally blind, deaf, paralyzed, he’d never grow properly, and he was in immense pain. The neurologist cried as she told my in-laws the news. My sister-in-law blamed herself for not knowing, for not taking care of herself as a pregnant woman would. To some degree she still does blame herself, not that it was her fault, I saw her all through her pregnancy (we’re very close), I never once thought she’s pregnant. No one did. We had 6 more weeks and 2 days with him. He passed away on June 23, 12 weeks and 2 days old. His birth story is still my favourite, because he ninja-Ed has way into our lives and our hearts, and though we didn’t have long enough, I still feel honoured to have known him.
Omg 😱 I think there was definitely a lot of medical negligence going on there, and your SIL has no reason to feel guilty about anything! She went to the dr several times during that time and none of them were able to realize what was going on? Craziness!
Im so sorry your family went through that. Your sister in law is a very strong woman - absolutely nothing she did was wrong. I can't believe the doctors didn't figure out she was pregnant, I feel like I go to the doctor for totally unrelated symptoms and they do a pregnancy test.
There is no reason for her to feel guilty. She honestly didn't know and she shouldn't blame herself. I'm so sorry for your loss. You're family is in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you and your family ❤
I’m a larger woman and when I was pregnant with my daughter I only gained 18 pounds nobody could tell I was pregnant I never had to buy any maternity clothes that I wore my regular large person clothes, due to a bi-corniated uterus I never felt her move the only way I knew she was healthy was when I went to my check ups and heard the heartbeat and they did the ultrasounds so there are times that women cannot feel the baby move she never kicked she never punched she never did anything so for the naysayers out there and the doubters until you walked a mile in our shoes don’t be so quick to judge
You misspelled "morbidly obese". Gaining 6-10lbs in 7-9 months isn't normal. And you saying "regular large person clothes" means you're wearing 4-7x. You need serious mental and physical help & I hope you find it before you Disney Mother your kid by dying. Seriously. Start by walking around the block on a schedule without fail. That's how I dropped 80lbs. Every night, at 9pm, come hell or high water. 9pm, a walk around the block. After 5 lbs it went to 2 blocks. Then speedwalking 2 blocks. Then 5 blocks. A year later I was down 80lbs. Gotta do baby steps before you can run (unless you've got a toddler that's a doofus, and stands then runs straight into the coffee table full-speed & head-first).

I was a footling breech preemie myself, born at 33 weeks and my Mum was rushed into emergency c section. That negative can do alot to someone's mindset. "well it said it was negative so I must not be pregnant." All the pregnancy symptoms can seem so normal. I'm 16 weeks and I think I'm starting to feel it move. Though I could easily dismiss this as gas or indigestion. If you truly believe something isn't true you can so easily explain it away.
Also we humans tend to not be particularly great at localizing and identifying internal sensations either, how much of this is purely physiological in the sense that the density of receptors in the skin is way higher thus giving the brain more information. As opposed to the fact that we have always had the benefit of our eyes to help us map what we are feeling to a cause when it's external no such information is available with internal sensations.
Robyn Currently 25 weeks, i can understand how *some* movements can be explained away, but my my son moves an insane amount, it literally looks like that scene from alien sometimes 😂
Seraphina I agree, however, for *most* pregnancies (definitely not all) especially those who are on the skinnier side, you can 100% see the movement from the outside, for me, it started at about 23 weeks, i don’t know how anyone could just write it off, honestly sometimes it scares me and i know i’m pregnant, looks like the scene from alien 😂
My mom found out she was pregnant with me because of heartburn 😂 She had worsening heartburn & thought she had stomach ulcers. Nope! Just me. It’s been 19 years and I’m sure she still questions if she would’ve preferred the stomach ulcers
I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 11-12 weeks along ... I was a college student and out partying every weekend for that whole time. My heart broke when I thought about FAS and worried so much! But my doctor was awesome about it and really helped me through it all! My daughter will be 19 this summer and is healthy as a horse!!!
The poor grandma/mom!!! When she started crying about not being there for her daughters birth, I felt so bad for her!! Edit: ugh when the daughter started crying and feeling guilty about not knowing she was pregnant my heart broke. Clearly these women are both extremely compassionate because of how much they care for their daughters🥺
When my mom was pregnant with my younger sister, she was worried about her, my mom knew she was pregnant. Thing is that my sister never moved around, she didn't kick or anything. So i get it that some times they could say "well i didn't know cause i didn't feel anything". babies don't always move, sister was healthy and born without any complications by the way. Also have a relative who has two kids and in both pregnancies she never showed physical signs of being pregnant, like no "baby bump" at all and she wasn't fat of anything, she had an average body type as well height, both kids came out healthy as well. I still do wonder how people don't know they are carrying a baby but it is case by case scenario i guess.
Sometimes if the placenta is in the front it can be hard to feel baby move. With my son the placenta was on side/front, so I could only feel him move on one side.

Watching this actually made my anxiety shoot way up. This happened to me with my first pregnancy with my son. I didn't know I was pregnant and delivered him in the bathroom. They guessed he was about 20 to 21 weeks gestation. It was absolutely horrifying. I was later diagnosed with PTSD due to this and I was super paranoid my whole pregnancy with my daughter. PS. He did not make it and it weighed on me for YEARS and still does. Could not believe/hated myself for being in denial when I started to suspect it. I was 20 and dumb. That's probably why I caught on that I was pregnant with my daughter at 5 weeks.

lol, my daughter didn't know she was pregnant until she was in labor. A combination of physical issues that reduced her chance of getting pregnant (she understood that to mean, 'impossible' to get pregnant and was wrong) combined with "I thought I just put on my Freshman 15" led to a call from my wife while I was out of town. "Guess what, you're a grandpa." I still dunno how it happens, but I do believe that she didn't believe she was pregnant lol

My daughter was an opposing footling breech with a prolapsed cord…yes, things can go quite wrong with a breech birth. Fortunately as I was about to be rushed off for caesarean surgery because of the prolapsed cord that one foot dropped and she ended up being quite literally dragged into the world by the foot, with the other foot still up in front of her face. We both survived the experience ok although there was a bit of healing involved.

If the pain is too strong (which it was), it automatically makes you forget about other touching feelings, so it's possible she didn't noticed it
Or at least, she didn't indentifyed as as something SOLID going out, like a foot

Wow

A little under 5lbs at 30 weeks!? You were a big baby! Lol

I have heard from other obgyn youtubers that the baby will be in someone's back, so they think it is just them gaining weight.

It happens often in women who have a tilted uterus. Sometimes itll fall foward around 17 weeks. Sometimes it wont and the baby will be “in the back”. I have a tilted uterus and mine falls forward. I can look a little bloated one day and a couple days later Ill look full on pregnant.

God is awesome.

I stArted watching this show about two years ago and I found out in December that I was two months pregnant and I didn’t know it
My mother had a period almost every month when she was pregnant with my sister.
Yikes!

When pride gets in the way of a life.. This infuriates me.
Breech babies can definitely be delivered vaginally in a hospital setting, if they are in a full or frank breech position (not footlings).
Men
It is infuriating, isn't it, how some people knowingly and willfully choose - in developed nations, no less - not to receive prenatal care or have trained and licensed professionals in attendance at their deliveries because they are adamant about doing everything "the way nature intended". Your case is just one of many tragic stories that get swept under the carpet by the free-birth movement.
Someone's mother in my school didn't know she was pregnant. She just came to school one day and was like "I HAVE A LITTLE BROTHER"
I knew a woman at a pottery class I used to go to who went to the hospital with abdominal pain and the doctor was basically like. "Oh, I see what is going on. I feel like a lot of the “i didn’t know i was pregnant” stories i really don’t get, but this one makes a lot more sense than some of them.
Maggie K that’s how my second pregnancy’s going, i didn’t look pregnant until 7 months then BAM! Pregnant as a house
My mum has a collegue who was pregnant at 16 and also still had her period for a long time. It's a really scary thought
The reason I love these is because I watch this show and think “HOW?!” So when I see a real OBGYN react to them I get closure
“You know what Steven I can’t really talk right now”
Hello 👋 how are you doing
The resemblance between the characters and the figures they represent is uncanny in these episodes...
If this is like "Real Stories From the ER", sometimes the actual people involved in the scenario play themselves. I guess they try to use the "real" people first, but if they don't want to be on tv or they can't "act", then they get a professional actor. I’m amazed at how guilty the mom is when she was completely unaware of pregnancy, I’ve seen mothers with 6 kids not care when she runs over the foot of one
She obviously got that trait from her mom, who also said the same thing. Yup. We women like to live with guilt over things we can’t possibly control.
With the car? A child's foot? Mom didn't CARE? dang. 😢
Sounds like a very memorable delivery :o I'm curious, what do you mean by setting the table?
Calmly Wetherill, I’m not a doctor, but I’ve had two babies. From my experience, a table is basically like a rolling cart with supplies that the OB or CNM will need immediately after delivery: cord clamps, a container for the placenta, sutures and local anesthetic for tearing, the scissors used to cut the cord, etc. I’m not sure what else might be on there though, those are just the things I know about from my births.
What about a baby bump? Can a woman be pregnant and don't show one of this?
This certainly brings back memories…
In the mid-70s, I had a brief but glamorous career driving an ambulance.
(I want to say this was a small town and the sophistication and training of firefighters - and ambulance drivers - has gone up exponentially in the last 40 yrs.)
I noticed something that looked like liver coming out - it was blue and I realized it was a cyanotic heel with the cord wrapped over it. In my hospital, I had been floated to postpartum a lot. I didn’t know a thing about L&D, but I knew what a prolapsed cord was and said “Oh, shit. It’s breech!“
Suddenly the training kicks in.
You're amazing!!!
What a story! Thanks for sharing!
That is an amazing story 🥰🥰 what a champ that firefighter was to help you! I would imagine the joy of being the one to help deliver a baby would be almost the same as the woman giving birth. Such an amazing thing to be a part of.
Good job! Amazing how training and instinct can kick in and save the day even when we're panicking.

I was huge with my first but super small with my second which was so strange
kytti kane I was like that- I was HUGE with my first.
That’s funny! But judging by your pic you look heavier. Usually you can’t tell that much on heavier ladies :)

XD
I can't get enough of these "I didn't know I was pregnant " stories and love the babies pulling through!
Hello 👋 how are you doing
Vin when i my older brother was born it caused a tear in my moms vagina and so when she realized she was going into labor with me she could feel the top of my head and she went to the hospital and told the nurse that and the nurse laughed at her and was like “there’s no way, you would be in way more pain and wouldn’t even be able to walk” but she was wrong
that's so awful. women face so much discrimination in medicine- i've been on my own receiving end for chronic health conditions. no one listens to us.
I get phantom kicks multiple times a day
Ever since I was pregnant with my son, every-time I feel a gas bubble move in my stomach, I had a slight moment where my heart stops lmaooo

I didn't know I was pregnant until I was about 6 months into my pregnancy. I have pcos and used to go 5 months without a period. So when I didn't get my period I was like oh wells. Aubz N Indy. I want her for my doctor..
I wish she was my mom. Lol.
Mercy sakes!!

I've had muscle spasms in my stomach before so that could easily be dismissed as "Oh I'm not pregnant" if I had a negative pregnancy test
Congratulations!

I still do wonder how people don't know they are carrying a baby but it is case by case scenario i guess.

lol, my daughter didn't know she was pregnant until she was in labor. A combination of physical issues that reduced her chance of getting pregnant (she understood that to mean, 'impossible' to get pregnant and was wrong) combined with "I thought I just put on my Freshman 15" led to a call from my wife while I was out of town.
